I am struggling about cleaning bunny poop time consuming about an hour everyday. I use the tarp just like the others. I found your video just now, Thank you so much for the great idea. I use the back scratcher try to reach and clean poop under the big cage. I have to try to make a plan for the new cleaning system with my family. Great appreciation. Thank you, Sir.
You can also get some scrap of the “roofing” material and attach it to a stick. Then just push the poop down in a few seconds. You’d still want to do as you do but maybe not as often. Great setup
It works great until winter time. Then it froze solid. Usually we have enough warm days between the cold snaps that it won't freeze but not this year. I had to remove them because they were solid ice/poo
Thanx for the video I was wondering what pitch/angle I would need to get the 💩 to roll. It is steeper than I was hoping, you saved me time and money great video and idea
If you used a tight tarp in place of the tin (with a steeper angle) would you be able to "bounce" the tarp from the underside to knock the poop down without the need of getting the poop soaked? Or does it stick? If it isn't sticky, you could dump the urine, then collect the drier poop with a brush in the gutter. Or somehow make the gutter easy to remove so you could just tip it into the bucket? Interesting system! I don't have rabbits- yet. Still looking for a low maintenance design like this. Love the water system!
I’m liking that corrugated poop tray into gutter system. I need to design/build one myself. I’d try to push poop with a squeegee tho….that bucket would be too heavy for me.🤷🏻♀ Thanks for the inspiration!
So many ways to house rabbits. Your setup looks really good and you have lots of space for the big rack system. Will be interesting to see how it works over the next few years. We tried to figure out how to house our herd inside but ended up going with outdoor hutches for space reasons.
Thanks for watching! I will be moving this hutch to a lean to on the side of my barn before winter. I had this same style last time i raised meat rabbits, i used it for about 4 years and loved it!
I love your idea! Could you do a double bucket system? Bucket no holes on bottom to catch urine, stacked bucket on top with holes to catch poop and let urine run into bottom bucket? I guess that would be two buckets to handle and not as efficient as handling just one.
I wonder what would happen if you used a smooth surface under the cages and attached a windshield wiper system. They are 12v and could run off a battery. Set them on a timer to automatically spray and wash every few hours. Thoughts?
My husband build one similar. To this one but when it's so hot here in the south I put the water hose flow light and they like it and I spray in the corner and yes it don't stink and easy to clean
Love Love Love THIS!!!!!! Do you have plans? I will be doing this for my new garage set up! I have seen the system before, but WITHOUT the gutters, what a simple but genius idea. :D
So you are raising them, correct? I ask because I assume that’s dif from having one as a pet. Your cages are empty other than food and water. Mine is opposite. Should I not put other stuff in the cage or am I rite when I said I assume it’s dif because yours are temp (not sure that’s the correct way to say it) ? lol I have shavings, some of the fluffy paper they make for rabbits, a salt lick thingy, water, pellets & fresh vegetables daily. I also have created a little room where she can hide & hay of course.
Everyone does things differently and that fine. I can't speak much about the stuff you have in the cage, but if it won't hurt your rabbit and you want it there.
Do your rabbits not get any hay? I noticed I don't see fallen hay on your collection tray, nor in the trough. Curious as I'm building a similar system but my rabbits always make a mess with the hay.
@@OwlCreekHomestead ?? NOT REGULARLY? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO TAKE CARE OF RABBITS? HAY SHOULD BE 80% OF THEIR DIET AND YOU MAKE THEM LIVE OFF OF PELLETS??? NOT ONLY THAT BUT YOU KEEP RABBITS IN THOSE MISERABLE FUCKING CAGES YOU ARE A TERRIBLE OWNER YOU WOULD NEVER PUT A DOG OR CAT IN A CAGE SO WHY RABBITS OR ANY OTHER ANIMAL?
These rabbits live miserably in those wired cages. No where to run around freely, all they do is live in those miserable small cages and they can get food infections from wired cages as they do not have pawpads. You are a terrible rabbit owner.
My heart breaks for them. This is way too small for a rabbit ant they’re definitely not happy about it! Plus the fencing they have to lay on!!!! SHAME ON YOU! You need to educate yourself A LOT on how to care for a bunny and what their needs are!
Melissa at Good Simple Living did a video where she says why wire mesh is actually more comfortable for the bunnies. And I see resting pads for them if they want.
Every once in a while I stumble across a UA-cam video that will forever change how I run my homestead; this is one of those videos! Thank you!

Love the gutter on the back! I think I may utilize this idea for our hutch!

@@OwlCreekHomestead Gotchya! I could see how that would be problematic. Winter time clean ups are hard to begin with.
Yeah they are!
New to your channel. Love this design! Do you have a tutorial on the build? Thanks so much

Very nice set up.. a little more adjustment and i guess that'll be the best set up. Maximizing the space and easy to manage poops and urine.
absolutely. I like it! Thanks for watching
I might have to copy this design. Works great. But I would slant the gutter a lot more. Great video
Yeah I plan to adjust my gutters before winter when I relocate my hutch. Thanks for watching!
Totally BEST DESIGN on UA-cam!
Thanks! Please share with any rabbit raising friends!

What an awesome setup. Looks way more economical compared to the bass flush kleen system
I like the flow of things here. I think I will implemement the concept thanks!
Really liking how easy it was to clean. love the hutch!
Thanks! I plan to build another soon.
Thanks for the idea and concept.
NP, I hope it helped!
Great design! We are following your other video for building our hutch. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
Do you have a video showing how you built your hutch too? Thank you so much. I do want something for bucks as well as for does to nest.

Cute rabbits..nice rabbit cage..new fren here from Philippines
Thanks and welcome!
The cage is not nice! It’s whire imagin standing on whire with no shoes on for your whole life!
Great build I really like your work 👍🏻👍🏻
OMG fantastic Idea 💡 thanks for sharing.

Do you have a template of how you built it I think yours is the best I’ve seen
No, I should have put it on paper. I just built it from a design in my head lol
Looking for a good way to clean out. Nice idea
Genius set up!
genius set up. love it!
Good idea, since i,m new inthe rabbit world ,i wll follw suite.

Awesome! If i use this method, can I scoop up the manure once it has drained and dried to use in a compost bin?
Terrific vid. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Very informative channel. thank you for sharing.
This is still a awesome system
What do you do in the winter time when it freezes does it get that cold in the barn?

is that about a six inch difference in height between the top and bottom of the metal roofing? how much of an angle did you use for the gutter?
and adding biochar or charcoal to the bucket of pee will help even more to reduce/ eliminate the smell
Whats the size of bottom mesh rectangle size? I mean spaces that let poop not stuck in the cage?
Do you feed your rabbits hay with this system. Looks like it’s just manure and water?
good idea
Nice and clean.
what's the spec of your welded wire? do you make the cage yourself too?
I use a GAW wire from Klubertanz.com I have video's on rabbit cage and rabbit hutch building, check them out! Thanks for watchin!
Don’t do this
Love the system but what’s holding the cage up
This is great and best rabbit set up thanks new subs here
What the f*ck dude, rabbit abuse.
Awesome!
Excelent👍
I think mesh floors arnet nice at all its extremely cruel and bad for there feet they have no bed or area to feel comfortable in!
Fyi. Rabbit urine is gold. It's fantastic fertilizer for your garden. You could sell the urine and manure if you don't have a garden
you may not need a hose for that. you should try a long handled back scratcher to rake down the poo
Do your rabbits not get any hay? I noticed I don't see fallen hay on your collection tray, nor in the trough.
Curious as I'm building a similar system but my rabbits always make a mess with the hay.
Typically I only give hay to does while preparing to kindle. They get a good quality pellet the rest of the time and do good without hay.
Can u send me your exact measurements and how much wood this takes this is awesome
Please don’t put rabbits in these hutches and wire bottom cages are abuse and wrong
Smart !
How do you keep rats out of the cages ?
What is the angle on the tin that catches the feces and urine?
How tall is the sides of the rabbit cage wooding fram
In the uk its recommended not to keep bunnies in cages with wire floors. It hurts their feet.
Kindly send what all things needed to make rabbit cage. Also show step by step how to make the cage.
Did you make the actual rabbit cage or did you buy those?
Made them. I have videos showing that as well. Thanks for watching!
@@OwlCreekHomestead I found it. Thank you for replying. They are great videos.
Thanks!
do you feed them hay???
Not regularly, they get a high quality pellet from Meiss Feeds. I do break off small branches and give them to chew on for their teeth.
oh ok. I give mine hay but I have 2 that like to scratch it out of the feeder and it gets into the trough system I have
@churchyardchild I've raised rabbits for years not feeding hay 24-7. With a good quality pellet they have done great.

Instead of washing it down with a water holes, use a air hole.
I’ve read that the wire isn’t good for their feet.
Thick gage wire is good, not hardware cloth.
The unpleasant smell is best removed by earthworms.
😎🐇🧐
& what about breeding?
if you have somewhere to dump the manure....
But don’t they shoot pee 2 feet away?
It might not seem like it to you, but this is animal abuse. This is why people really need to do their research on rabbits.
I will never, ever , force my rabbits , to live on a gaze, metal dread wire floor...
Rabbits don’t have padded feet letting them on wires all day is so bad for their feet and will give them blisters!!! Don’t do this
That can mske them have sorr hawks this is terrible the hides? Hay? Water
Solid waste, liquid waste
Horrible hosing and wetting system !!!!!
Nnc
Disgusting set up, to small.
OMG POOR RABBITS! PLEASE GOVE THEM A INSIDE CAGE OR A NON WHIRE BOTOM CAGE!!!
Lol no

Rabbits should never stand on wire. its awful for their paws and give them no quilty of life😠poor bunny feet
What would you recommend? Kinda rude to criticize without offering a better solution.

Horrible set up .. horrible to spray rabbits .. let water fall in feeders .. take the ooop to your mini okie of posion ivy …
These rabbits have no enrichment abd are walking around on wire......not ideal at all I don't luje your set up sorry
