I'm new to shuffling, just joining the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club in March (22). I'm really liking the game as is my wife, and we're now getting into the strategies of the game. Watching other players, we are finding that the best players are not intent on scoring with their first shots, rather placing a series of blocks or clearing so that opponents cannot score. This is where the advantage of having the hammer really becomes clear, and for the experienced players, where their points are made. Like anything, the more you practice, the better you get. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
We recently moved to a community with an outstanding club house that has Pickleball, Bocci Ball, Shuffleboard, etc. We started playing Shuffleboard and it’s a relaxing fun. This video is outstanding next level information…thanks! Only question is where do we go from here? What’s a “hammer”? We don’t have all the basics down…not sure.
The 'Hammer' is the last shot taken of all the disk. It's the most powerful shot as it gives the person with the 'hammer' the opportunity to score last or to knock the opponents disk of the board. I would join a shuffleboard club if they have one there. Good luck and have fun.
@@DarrylKenyon thanks! I was looking through your videos to see if you did a whole series on shuffleboard. There isn’t a club here. It’s just a beautiful, professional court.
Excellent introduction! Never played and just signed up for a fun tournament in June. Most helpful. Thanks
Enjoy....It's a great sport.

I also did an 'intro to shuffleboard' video which may explain the hammer better. ua-cam.com/video/oPOt-DYWsiM/v-deo.html

Dots on the discs? No such thing around these parts.
