Asterix And Obelix "mission Cléopatre" is the best movie than all other Asterix and Obelix movies. La septième compagnie is a classic comedy still broadcast in TV. Les visiteurs but the fisrt one is the best. Les bronzés font du ski a huge classic comedy. Le gendarme a St Tropez it's a series of films with Louis de Funés, famous Michel Galabru, two big names in French comedy. LA soupe au choux indetronable classic. I am french and i can give you some explainations.
In france, there is no censor in the dialogue in movie. The movie "la folie des grandeurs" is not a cowboy movie. It take place in spain at the end of the middle age. For "les couloirs du temps", it's the 2nd movie of the "visiteurs" franchise. Only the first one is good. for "les bronzés font du ski" it's the sequel of "les bronzés" and all the actors in it became very famous in france. the movie "les gendarmes et les extraterrestres" is the last of the "gendarme" franchise and only the 4 first movie were good. for the 2 last ones, the principal caractere "Louis de Funes" Was old and tired except for "la soupe aux choux" his last movie, few month before he died in 1983. we have a lot of other good movies in france but most of time they are focused for the French market. When the hollywood decide to make a remake, most of time it's not on the original level. Thats too why you don't know all the actors : US remake. One word at the end : You said "Ils sont beaux les chevals" it's not completely correct. When a word finish bay "al" un singular, it finish by "aux" in plural. So you should say "Ils sont beaux les chevaux".

I saw all these French movies and comedies as a kid. Yes, the French were once the world leaders in film production and also in high quality films and had great acting stars. My favorite French actor was Louis de Funès. Unfortunately, the French have declined quite a lot nowadays in terms of filmmaking, and they miss movie stars very much, or many of the last stars have become very old and there are no new movie stars.

These movies are mainly comedies and pretty old school from 70’s, 80’s and 90’s but still popular nowadays… they are still broadcast at least once every year in french TV.
Les Bronzés (literally, The Tanned) and Les Bronzés font du ski (the tanned are skiing) was theatre productions by the same company who played their roles in the cinema version and all of them became famous and some of the most influential actors in the 80’s afterwards.
Maybe you noted the name of Christian Clavier (one of the Bronzés) appeared in the credits of more than one movie in the video.
Louis De Funès was also a record breaker of his time and became a star in his late years.
The Asterix and Obelix different movies were great hits too but for the last one (maybe because of the changes in the cast) and the best one is probably Mission Cleopatre.

Fantastic vehicle, same base as the mythic 2cv. Very resilient, extra simple conception, etc. The car body is in ABS plastic, so no corrosion, lightweight, etc.
Fun fact: the designer of the Méhari's body was Roland de la Poype, who was a fighter pilot during WWII, in the "Normandie-Niemen" fighter squadron. This was a very unique squadron in USSR, with mixed crew of soviet and French personnel (from the squadron "Normandie", which was allowed by Staline to add "-Niemen" because of their participation to the Niemen battle), sent there by De Gaulle to have french free forces on all war zones. The squadron still exists, and keeps this fantastic heritage (it was awarded of many french AND soviet distinctions, even "Hero of the Soviet Union", very rarely given outside of the USSR).
So there is quite a big bit of French History in this tiny plastic car!

vulgarity in France is considered part of freedom of expression on TV and in the cinema, merde, fuck and a middle finger is accepted on TV and in the cinema the limit as long as there is no harm to the person and in any case and in everything does not beep at worst the body responsible for regulating the media can be seized to intervene and sanctioned. Cinema is freer than TV, for example it is forbidden to smoke or drink alcohol in front of TV cameras and even to name brands because they have advertising spaces provided so if a brand is mentioned it is necessary to name others of the same kind after.

In order, you had Asterix and Obelix ( Gérard Depardieu, Christian Clavier), 7eme Compagnie (Mondy, Lefebvre, Guybet) , La folie des grandeurs (Yves Montand, Louis de Funes), Les visiteurs 2 (Jean Réno, Christian Clavier), Les bronzés font du ski (Thierry Lhermitte, Michel Blanc, Josiane Balasko and many more), Les gendarmes (Louis de Funes, Michel Galabru), La soupe aux choux (Louis de Funes, Jean Carmet, Jacque Villeret) , Le jaguar (Jean Réno, Patrick Bruel, Danny Trejo), La Chevre (Pierre Richard, Gérard Depardieu).
From those, Louis de Funes is considered the greatest french comedian who ever lived.
The names you could have recognized are Danny Trejo ( Played in Desperado with Banderas and lead actor of Machete), Jean Reno (Lead Actor in the amazing movie with Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman, Léon. Also secondary antagonist role in Mission: Impossible, with Tom Cruise, the very first one. ). Beside those 2, most of these actors never got international recognition... They starred together in the 1960 film "Let's Make Love," alongside Gene Kelly. The green car like a cheap Jeep is a Mehari. And yes, the very first prototype of the 2 CV "jeep", using ribbed panels (like the Citroën Type H and the Junkers 52 aircraft), was made in the late 1950s in Abidjan by a French restorer, Maurice Delignon.
The final French Citroën Méhari is based on the Dyane platform chassis and is equipped with the Citroën 602 cm3 AK2 engine, a variant that was used when it was released on the Dyane 6 and the 2CV AKB 2 van. The parts making up the car, apart from the bodywork and the tarpaulin, mainly come from other models of the brand: 2CV steering wheel, wheels, headlights, windscreen wipers, Dyane handbrake, Type H van taillights. A sort of Frankenstein of the car, in other words! 😅
The "méhari" that inspired the name of the car is a Saharan dromedary mainly used by the Tuaregs, Chaâmbas and "méharistes" of the French army at the time. 😉

If you can watch these 2 films with subtitles, I advise you, they are really very funny and there is a historical context. For example the village of Obelix and Asterix really resisted against the Roman invasion. Be careful to watch the first films, because they made sequels. :

unlike a jeep which can get stuck in the mud, a mehari is impossible to get stuck in the mud and if that happens you just need to push a little

There is no official censorship in France except for what falls under the law (racism, sexism, homophobia, hate speech, promotion of pedophilia, etc.). But there is unofficial censorship: more and more French media are in the hands of large companies and it is generally forbidden to broadcast investigations or statements that implicate these companies, their managers or their interests. It is also increasingly difficult to criticize the police in France under penalty of legal proceedings.
Regarding the credits of the films presented, I understand why it is called "French French films in France". These are films with "very French" humor (there are only comedies) that are difficult to export. Many rely on their star actors who are popular comic actors (Louis de Funès, Pierre Richard, etc.), and they were very successful when they were released in France. The exception for me is "Les Bronzés font du ski" which is part of a small series of films adapted from café-théâtre plays ("Le Splendid") which were not very successful when they were released but which have become cult over the course of their reruns on TV. Their humor is much meaner than the others, they make fun of the faults of the average French with incredible lines which have entered popular language ("Is it my eyes or what?" for example).

They made several Astérix movies, Michael Schumacher was even in one, he played a cart racer in the Roman Circus. The excerpt shown here was the first one, it's quite good (the following ones, not so much). These are all comedies, I don't think the humor would work in English, or mabe only partially (especially the "Les Bronzés" series of films, they're even embarrassing to nowadays French people). Some of these movies were made in the 1970s and they haven't aged well. E.g., back then, people would roll on the floor laughing when they'd see a man in drag; obviously nowadays, not anymore (except people who haven't evolved since, and there are a few, unfortunately).
Michel Polnareff, who made the music for the western, is a great composer, you ought to check out some of his songs, like "Le Bal De Laze" or "Âmes Calines" (which was a popular instrumental tune even in the USA, though nobody knows he has written it, I guess). He's really huge in Japan for his songs. He has also written quite a few movie soundtracks.
You probably know Louis de Funes, he was a great comedian, he's famous in many countries. His most famous movies are "The Gendarme in Saint Tropez" series (there is an excerpt here; the little green car is a Citroen Méhari), made in the 1960s - early 1970s, but he has made other ones that are much better in my opinion, much more subversive.
These are all comedies, and not even good ones (there are a few excellent ones, though, not shown here). I'm not sure those shown here would make anybody laugh in the USA, though, except maybe for Astérix, but even for this one, I guess one needs to know the original comic version to find it interesting. But many of these French comedies have had US remakes (The Birdcage, 3 Men and a Baby, and many more).
No, nothing is censored, not even on TV (well, they avoid strong language like swear words on TV live shows like e.g. talk shows, but they call things by their names, for instance acts of violence, SA, etc.; they're not beeped out like here on YT, where I sometimes don't even know what they're talking about with all the words except 2 or 3 replaced by beeps). I think in the USA, it's not to offend religious people most of the time; the mentality in France is totally different for this, most people couldn't care less about religion. There are a few religious people, and if they are offended, it's their problem. But people use political correct language when talking about minorities, e.g. ethnic, or LBGT+ (more recently).

Yes, I don't really understand why someone suggested you to watch this...
If it were the best scenes of french movies, it would make sense.
If it were trailer, it could have a sense too (but quite limited).
    Here, you can't understand anything.
"La soupe au choux" (cabbage soup) has a really... interesting topic: a man is making so much noises when farting that he calls alien to earth.
"La chèvre" (the goat) is a movie about a really really unlucky guy that has a mission to find a really really unlucky girl lost in a foreinger island. That's a funny and touching movie.

Some are really of of the classics comedies and actors (especially Louis de Funès), we miss also Bourvil and Fernandel, older ones. Some here are not the best when they come from a serie (Les visiteurs 1 is muche better than this one).
Concerning the "biiiiiippp" censorship in France: no way !!!
When americans actors are interviewed in french tv shows, most of the time, the host tell them: you can say eveything you want in french tv, even "bad" words, so americans love to have fun and say "f...", "Son of a..." things like that, just for fun.
It starts now to have less freedom than before, when we talk about sensible topics, but it stills very strange to hear those "biiiiips" in american tv shows, or things like the "nipplegate scandal" with Janet Jackson.
