Red Wellington has got exactly what it voted for.
Destroying parking is the most stupid thing ever.
I visited Wellington last year for the first time in many years.
It seemed to be full of earnest leftist-liberal types, many working for the state in minor policy or advisory positions and all intent on fixing the world.
Not much interest in private enterprise, perhaps even hostility to it. And hostility to the established norms on which the city and our country is built.
Instead of trying to address real issues of concern to ordinary people, the council is devoting time, money, people and resources into exploring having the Muslim call to prayer publicly broadcast in Wellington. It beggars belief how arrogant and out-of-touch the council is.
Yet the voters keep returning Green/Labour to office. WTF??

I love wellington. I lived there for ten years. Some of the coolest people I know still do. I fear for the city and the people living there. Its very sad.
So the increased rate will go to those green industry "consultancy", no doubt about it. Fat contracts coming.

Wellington was great back in the 1970s when students could afford rents for inner-city houses and buy a few jugs of beers.
Wellington is somewhere I travel to, to hop onto a ferry. Not to visit.
Council is hopeless and Wellington is going backwards....

It's nice to know that at least one councilor on the WCC is in tough with reality. The LGWM is a project by admin staff trying to justify their existence. The recent Lambton Bus Exchange project that cost millions has achieved NOTHING; just cosmetics. WHAT A WASTE.

Wellington Council ran a competition to write 300 words on the benefits of living in Wellington, the 1st prize was a weeks all expenses paid holiday in Wellington, the 2nd prize was a two weeks all expenses paid holiday there..........
