It might be because the pie crusts everyone chose to make really sucked. The egg and the cheese in pie crust? It's not really pie crust anymore. The apple ingredients they made in my opinion didn't cut it. So, I guess the people who tried it was thinking of their Mom's apple pie, which was better than what they got. Just by looking at what they put or didn't put in the pie made me want to cringe.
They were honest which is what this challenge was about. All the recipes had something unique going on. But it all comes down to taste.
