3:13. God that L1 attack is a thing of beauty. The speed it chains at after an R1 with is so satisfying. My favourite combo before they patched it was Greatsword and Great Club. Whiffing a slow Great Club R1 on purpose to bait a punish then throwing out that L1 attack at Mach 9000 to take half their lifebar was so damn satisfying, dude. Just disgusting damage. I love DS2 so much.
Def gonna do the caestus + Bonefist. I swear this video came at a perfect time, since I recently started playing DS2, as blind as I can (Which ain't much since I started playing thanks to you), and I was wondering what cool powerstances I could try, and was thinking of greatsword with a long sword.
my favorite combo is Spear in left hand and Katana in the right. I like the extra counter damage katanas have and the powerstance is the spears moveset, turning everything into thrust for the thrust counters. I use Stone Spear and Blacksteel Katana for it, powerstancing for main damage and being tricky with the spear length or blacksteel moveset to finish people off!
My least favorite thing about Elden Ring powerstance is the removal of the 3/2 stat requirement. It encouraged more build diversity and it felt rewarding to "earn" the powerstance, like you needed extra stats to "master" the weapon. No stat requirements for it makes it feel so unceremonious
Edit: First things first, now that I finished writing the comment I noticed it might sound a bit more negative than intended, so let me preface this by clarifying that I really love DS2. I'm not saying this to talk against the game, so while I understand being defensive with how much hate it gets for no reason, I just want to reassure you that you don't need to do so here. Anyways, back to the comment: I think the exact opposite. That's my favorite thing about Elden Ring's powerstancing, since it was the reason I rarely ever powerstanced in DS2. It always felt like such a huge unnecessary chore to level up so much more just to powerstance a weapon, especially when two handing was straight up better more often than not. In fact, even with my dual wielding character, I didn't bother powerstancing and just used the weapons separately: Scorpion Stinger or Manslayer for smaller enemies, Mytha's Bent Blade (favorite weapon in the game by the way, absolutely loved that thing. DS2 just did poison SO MUCH better than all the others, I really miss that. Elden Ring was particularly disappointing with the Serpentbone Blade not allowing Ashes of War) for bosses. Powerstancing in DS2 was something you needed to go out of your way for, while in Elden Ring, you can just do it naturally and enjoy. People also seem to forget how many weapon type combinations in DS2 shared a moveset. What's the difference between two straight swords and a straight sword and a curved sword or axe when they have the exact same moveset? It's true that it allowed smaller weapons with bigger ones, something Elden Ring doesn't, so I'm not saying the difference is irrelevant or that DS2's version wasn't better, I'm just saying people overstate how big a deal it was. If I had to point out a least favorite thing about powerstancing in Elden Ring, it'd the way it only works with L1, and doesn't allow for powerstanced heavy attacks. Elden Ring as a whole is more focused on heavy attacks than light ones due to the stance mechanic, so I'd much rather it allowed you to use both light and heavy attacks with both weapons like DS2 did, which could be done by either using both weapons when using R2, or by having an active stance like DS2 did when two handing the left handed weapon.
@@anirbannandi8263 No no, it did both. That was the weapon's whole thing: It was the only one able to apply both poison and toxic. That's why I loved it so much. The poison build up was higher than toxic, so poison always procced first, but it was pretty clear once toxic came up a few hits later. It's still a poison weapon, the toxic is a bonus add-on on top of that.
You sound exactly like i thought you would. And also pretty good. I didn't experiment around that much in DS2, just two copies of the same thing or the same class and that thing was usually a lance or a greatsword or a greatclub or one of the unique weapon combos. That said i really do like how you got the L2 with the special effects on things like the Smelter Sword. Oh, and there is a youtube channel Mixed Martial Ari that covered the DS2 fist movesets recently. Would recommend them, interesting video, there's influence from a specific chinese style of martial arts in DS2's bone fist i think, bajiquan.
One unorthodox combo I would love using would be the Murakumo in rh and the Partizan in lh, I would stance swap ( look it up if you don’t know) and the Murakumo could go from a powerful overhead swing to almost a full 180 coverage side swipe. The Partizan was great if I needed to keep distance and poke or catch people rolling to my left and if I stance swapped I could have a side swing cover my left side as well since the partizan is the only (to my knowledge) spear in ds2 with a poke and swipe.
Props to you for putting your real voice out there! Now to the topic: Yeah, Elden Ring's powerstancing more streamlined, but I think that's largly owed to the sheer amount of weapons that are in the game. In addition to that they have almost doubled all attack string animations like 6 different R1s from a Straight Sword etc instead 2 from DS3. So, I "forgive" them for not adding even more. Besides, some of those animations look really weird like the Ice Rapier/MLGS. You wouldn't swing a rapier that is meant for poking like a sword. Overall, I'm just glad we have ps back at all lol
SO just a quick clarification, in the ds2 pvp community there are two techniques involving animation cancelling: Quickroll: a rolling attack cancel into another roll. (Roll, R1, Roll. etc) Recovery Cancel: cutting off the end of an attack by cancelling the combo'd attack. (R1 --> R1, but quickly roll or backstab out of the first frames of it.) Both techniques are absolutely insane in PvP. Around the world, they are seen differently. In North America, Recovery Cancel is seen as less honorable than Quickroll. And we really can't talk about Power Stance without bringing up Quick Attack : ): ua-cam.com/video/9OeAeTrCGl0/v-deo.html By the way, I really loved hearing your voice on the video. Great job once again!
iirc cancelling attack recovery is usually known as recovery cancel, quickroll is a type of recovery cancel where you cancel the recovery of the roll itself into another roll instead of an attack into a roll every weapon can quickroll, and it's about the same window for all of them but, not every weapon can rc - greatswords, ultra greatswords and greataxes struggle especially and usually have to use an r2 or an offhand to do so
as someone who started with elden ring when it came out but wasn't too keen with how powerstancing felt in that game, i was actually pretty pleasantly surprised to see how good powerstancing actually felt in ds2. I haven't experimented with it too much yet, but, as a dex lover, i definitely plan on using the warped sword + ricard rapier combo in the future
For me, my current favorite powerstance setup is the helix halberd and channelers trident. Both because halberd’s are my favorite weapons in the series (albeit this setup is more like spears) as well as it reminds me of the infamous helix halberd and mastodon halberd build that got nerfed out of existence.
Ngl, i loved powerstancing red and blue smelter GS. the explosion is pure dopamine rush lol! Not sure if there's any explosive GS build in other souls game though
I love ER's combat, but honestly, I miss DS2 powerstancing so much. Its a shame that even the paired weapons are a bit of a downgrade in ER. For some reason, FromSoft went backwards with dual weilding after DS2 and i have no clue why.
@@kazueglassheardt7185 isn't it obvious? The amount of misinformation about DS2 is insane. of course they don't wanna try something new anymore! they don't want another "DS2 situation" all over again (all thanks to the youtuber like mauler)

It isn't powerstancing, influencers just started calling it that to boost the game's popularity, likely paid to do it like with their massive DS2 hate bandwagon. The japanese are cutthroat as fuck. They basically sabotage the games they publish to put the devs under their boot, like EA does every single time. Did you know they own Dark Souls? Bamco is really scummy. As for the mechanic, it's just dual wielding using DS3's shitty twins weapons as a basis.
Playing DS2 is anything but boring-it's like a high-stakes game of chess where every move must be calculated with precision. You can’t just charge in recklessly; success hinges on understanding enemy placements, strengths and weaknesses and countering them effectively. Each encounter requires a different approach, forcing you to adapt your tactics on the fly, just like chess requires you to anticipate your opponent's next move. It’s a battle of strategy, timing, and patience, where knowing when to be aggressive or defensive can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Far from boring, it's a cerebral and intense experience that rewards thoughtful play.
Idk how good it technically was but my favorite was the grwm great axe and butcher knife combo since the knife was very fast for its size and did lifesteal it was nice to do a lot of damage with the great ace while powerstanced
You can powerstance the magestic greatsword with blueflame. It allows you to do some pretty wacky combos if we add spells such as soul greatsword onto the mix.
Please do more showcases of unique powerstance combinations. When I first played DS2 I assumed that powerstancing only worked for weapons of the same class.
Powerstancing different weapon classes is so cool, I would love to powerstance the cross naginata and uchi from Elden Ring for the Isshin cosplay, but sadly you can just pretend that they work together.
you should do a video about in-depth analysis of DS2 powerstance mechanics. something like, how to make a good powerstance combination(?) that could serve a good guide for people who wants to try a dual wielding build on DS2 ;)
I have a good one for you: monastery scimi on the left hand with rapier in the right hand. This combination is good bc you have one of the best parry in the game (one-handed rapier) with the cool flow of the curved sword powerstance. But heres the catch: why monastery scimi specificallly? why not use any other scimi with lower stats for power stance? well the monastery has a unique R2 atack when one handed in the right hand, its a spin attack! when the weapon is on the left hand the default L2 is a parry, but if you do an L2 after a R1 with a weapon compatible the scimi while having the stats for power stance, then you do that spin move with the monastery in the left hand. So TDLR its a build for swaping between power stance and dual welding and having cool moves both ways
Young Domo, there are but two paths. Mantain the habit of AI speak, or do a voice reveal. But only a true monarch can make such a choice. Very few, indeed, have come even this far. And yet, your journey is far from over. Half-grown Hollow, do you have a good voice? [Spoiler: Yes]
I had at least 3 fire glow characters in Ds2 and don't remember ever using a build powerstancing so different weapon classes o-O I did always use asymetrical movesets, like axe and claymore, or halberd and axe on each hand, with contrasting speed, reach and width or tracking and timings on run attacks, that way spam rolling was not safe because they could not predict what to roll against next. I miss that so much, the mechanical options were truly complex.
Yeah I like ds2 dual wielding more. Better hit types for, example: dual rapiers hit both at the same time. And also you can combine different weapon classes. And also you can infuse staves and talismans and buff enchanted weapons, woops that's a different topic.
1. Good voice. All you need is just a little practice, and you will sound great. But what an interesting accent... Domo, may I ask you to make some backlight for the letters in situations like 1:21(take a look on letters which are on lavafalls)? It makes text much more readable.
I find fun to use spiked whip and that one poison whip together. It makes the bosses that are vurnerable to those effects to melt away in no time. One thing tho, you best put 2 covennant rings (I don't remember their english names :D), and either put the poison gloves or bleed gloves. (Same as with the rings :D)

Hmm strange! It's almost like they're (fromsoft) was too afraid to improve the ds2 mechanics (the original power stance) on ER and instead they're playing safe with it.. i wonder why? 🙄 anyway, loving the new voice!
I'd argue that it's a huge ass game that they had a lot of stuff to work on and either didn't have the time to flesh out all of the different weapon combinations for powerstancing or they realized early on that the sheer extent of combinations and effort was too much and elected to keep the dual-wielding more focused and reliable.
@@pessolano461 huge ass game, with copy pasted bosses and dungeons and enemies and animations and spells and weapons and so on and so forth and they didnt had time to improve on old stuff, while being just a bit shy of being an asset flip? You can powerstance the magestic greatsword with blueflame. It allows you to do some pretty wacky combos if we add spells such as soul greatsword onto the mix.
Please do more showcases of unique powerstance combinations. When I first played DS2 I assumed that powerstancing only worked for weapons of the same class.
Large Club and a Great Club they just work, and great to see you using your voice in the video keep it up
Powerstancing different weapon classes is so cool, I would love to powerstance the cross naginata and uchi from Elden Ring for the Isshin cosplay, but sadly you can just pretend that they work together.
Missed opportunity for an ichimonji ash of war that would do great posture damage for katanas
really appreciate doing own voiceover
you should do a video about in-depth analysis of DS2 powerstance mechanics. something like, how to make a good powerstance combination(?)
that could serve a good guide for people who wants to try a dual wielding build on DS2 ;)
Sounds way better with your own voice imo. Also glad that the "wheeee" made it out from the ai versions
For it being the first time you've recorded your real voice, you did a great job! Also, the 'Wee!' is so much better with your inflection lol.
I had at least 3 fire glow characters in Ds2 and don't remember ever using a build powerstancing so different weapon classes o-O
I did always use asymetrical movesets, like axe and claymore, or halberd and axe on each hand, with contrasting speed, reach and width or tracking and timings on run attacks, that way spam rolling was not safe because they could not predict what to roll against next. I miss that so much, the mechanical options were truly complex.
Petition for a 10 hour Mauler roasting with this voice
When I heard your real voice I got so excited and went and showed my bf
Yeah I like ds2 dual wielding more. Better hit types for, example: dual rapiers hit both at the same time.
And also you can combine different weapon classes.
And also you can infuse staves and talismans and buff enchanted weapons, woops that's a different topic.
personally i'm a huge fan of offhanding a helix halberd with pretty much anything else, predominantly the warped sword
ill admit ive never used power stance a single time... im not very smart though. this will help! ty :)
your english is perfect!
1. Good voice. All you need is just a little practice, and you will sound great. But what an interesting accent... (ok, to be honest, when I try to speak English I have pretty similar pronouncination, heh).
2. Domo, may I ask you to make some backlight for the letters in situations like 1:21(take a look on letters which are on lavafalls)? It makes text much more readable.
Nice accent, friend. The audio comes through well. You are perfectly understandable.
Nice vid as usual.
Keep up the personal voiceover … nice and unique! 💪
Nah you put me on game wit this 🔥
Warped sword actually does longer spin when powerstanced with itself. Though i powerstance it with Red Rust Scimitar because it looks cooler to me.
My honorary mention goes to Yorgh's Spear + Santier's Spear, the absolute mixup blender moveset.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you for once again proving why another dark souls 2 unique idea is superior to a later iteration of it. Always loved the weapon animations they packed into the game. There’s just a flair to them, that I don’t feel more recent games have lived up to.
Your own voice adds a nice, distinctive layer to this kind of video. Nice work and definitely a welcome change👍
Hate to give you more work haha but you’ve gotta check out Joe gella’s video on why everyone hates dark souls 2. While he does give some props, a lot of the things he hates on are things we’ve heard before.
i remember requesting this video glad to finally hear you voice. not sure what your accent it tho?
German
Hmm strange! It's almost like they're (fromsoft) was too afraid to improve the ds2 mechanics (the original power stance) on ER and instead they're playing safe with it.. i wonder why? 🙄
anyway, loving the new voice!
You can't argue a game is huge therefore it couldn't be improved. It's a weak argument.
Just don't make it that huge?
Maybe actually have unique content in that huge world?
@@pessolano461 there's an obvious reason for that but i wouldn't deny your statement because that could possibly be the case too
@@schmietwechdeschiet4340 It is significantly bigger than DS2, even with the copy-pasted bosses, hardly a valid complaint when comparing sheer scale.
@@pessolano461 won't put much faith into this possibility just because they didn't bring it back at DS3 already.
HE'S GEHRMAN!?!
I've played this game for over 1,300 hours, but I've almost never used power stance. The only time I did was dual washing poles. Maybe i'll trya mismatched powerstance run
Good voice bro 👍 👍 keep up the great vids
Ds2 straight sword with greatsword powerstance is so nice when you land that R1 L1 combo
The Domo voice reveal! WITH A WEEEE! :O
Awesome Vid!
Thank You very much for Your Work! Greetings from Germany
Not related to powerstance but with the superior dual wielding mechanic of ds2 but i love to pancake enemies with left handed greatshield jump attacks
REAL VOICE?!!! NO WAY!!!
Thank You for speaking about the Quick Rolls, cuz ONLY IN DS2 u can cancel the animation of the attacks, not only quick rolls but also fast recovery from a running attack is amazing, there is NOTHING like this in DS1 and DS3.
