This song was part of an amazing movie “Harold and Maude”. One of the greatest love stories ever.
I LOVE that movie. Makes me sob Every. Darn. Time. A classic among classics.
"Harold and Maude" would be worthy for Rob Squad Movie Reaction.
It also has the best Jaguar E type of all time.
That was my brother's favorite movie.
Love that movie!! Such a fantastic....I guess dark comedy!!! ❤❤❤❤
From Tea for the Tillerman, one of the best Albums of all time.
Tea for the Tillerman is one of my top 3 albums I would need to have if stranded on a dessert island.
Three singers that have voices that just give me so much peace inside: Cat Stevens, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell.
I would add Jim Croce and John Denver to the list!👍👍
This fits in with Joni's "Put Up a Parking Lot."
@@christineobrien7707 I would also add Art Garfunkel and Robin Gibb
If we are talking distinctive voices, then Van Morrison needs to be on that list.
Not forgetting Carol king
Cat Stevens was an important artist in my youth. No one else has ever sounded anything like him.
"Morning Has Broken" is absolutely beautiful. A huge hit of his.
Absolutely a beautiful cover, of a Christian Hymn,,written in 1931
Moon Shadow, Father and Son, Peace Train.
I always thought 'Matthew & Son' - one of his mid-60s chart hits - was pretty exceptional, both for its musical form and subject matter. Interestingly, it proved quite influential in the longer term. Echo and The Bunnymen's frontman, Ian McCulloch, asked the musician playing the intro to their single, 'The Cutter' to improvise something based on part of the song, while Tears For Fears 'appropriated' another section of it for their song 'Mad World' - which Stevens would himself highlight, by singing some of its lyrics while performing 'Matthew & Son', in his later concert appearances.
Amber, your analysis is always perfect. As a 73 year old, I really feel that you "get it" as I do. Respect
His voice is a warm blanket for the cold & weary soul.
Perfectly said!👍
Yusaf (Cat)........
A philosopher as well as musical genius
Rare are people like him in history
Thank you guys for what you do here!
🎸🎶❤🇨🇦
Cat Stevens was saying nearly fifty years ago what most politicians still don't understand today - we can't endlessly advance technologically while ignoring the repercussions.
I was counting the years, too. 😔
Politicians ?!?...nahhh...people instead...why do we always put the blame only on politicians !. That's us, that's human beings, I'm afraid we'll be counting the years...endlessly !.
Perhaps the advent of AI is starting to wake us up to considering the consequences rather than just profit.
@@giuliogrifi7739 swallowed the propaganda have you that will allow them to depop you.
@@GratefulZen Well Chat GPT when asked can see the lies and says what many of us know which is that they are lying and CO2 needs to be massively increased in order for life to flourish
Number one song CAT STEVENS EVER is WILD WORLD ❤🎉
"Harold and Maude" would make a great movie review, Cat Stevens songs make up the entire soundtrack.
They haven't done that yet? OMG!
Amber would love that movie
I've been asking for it for about a year now
Not sure if they're ready yet. loL
@@O_Towne_Bear ya well, they should be
I saw all the comment's to react to "Harold and Maude" great movie it has my favorite actress Ruth Gordon please react 😀 peace ✌️ 😊❤Gary
Funny how his lyrics are so on point decades later. We should have paid more attention at the time.
You really can't go wrong with Cat Stevens. I suggest Oh Very Young. It's one of my favorites.
Great suggestion!
One of my favourites too!
That whole album Tea for the Tillerman is just special. My favorite is hardheaded woman. Everybody needs one thank God I got one.
A MUST HEAR Classic,, Cat Stevens
"Miles From Nowhere" 🔥♥️🔥
YES !!!!! definitely a must hear please do this one next !!!!!!!
He has so many good songs. I’ve been listening to his music since I was “knee-high to a grasshopper” as my grandpa would say.
Me too!
Songs of 60's and 70's had a Social Conscience.👍🏼❤
"Harold and Maude" is a great movie. Soundtrack by Cat Stevens. It is a strange movie and quite quirky, exploring issues of life and death. Wonderful message.
Cat Stevens has a beautiful voice. Truly one of a kind sound. The soundtrack and movie Harold and Maude is a perfect iconic blend that weaves his songs perfectly throughout to the end. The opening song Don’t Be Shy was only released and written for the movie and one of many favorites from this genius man.
There is a couple of great live concert videos of this song. Love this song & "Father & Son"
Outstanding musician, his songs are ageless
You have to see the movie Harold and Maude before you die! 🏄♂️
Ya ive been asking for that movie for a year
the first time I ever heard Cat Stevens was the song "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out!"... I was pretty little, but the song was already an old one. I loved it immediately, of course.
Literally the entire “Tea for the Tillerman” album is 🔥
The whole thing. Even if you don’t react to it, you should listen to it because it will go on your playlist forever.
This song has been part of my life since it came out...i grew up in north Vancouver and was surrounded by forests and mountains to explore...it is now being so developed and over populated...i used to ride my horse through forest trails that now have apartments and condos on them...'70s were the best..!
Great song that's even more relevant now than when it was written. On the sound-track of "Harold & Maude," my all time fav "indie" movie. Please react to the movie sometime.
Another masterpiece from the 70's. Best decade for music of all kinds.
Tea for the Tillerman is a classic album. Every song on it is priceless.
You absolutely need to watch the movie, "Harold and Maude," and watch for the scene where this song is used. Very moving!
There a lot of his songs in that movie. But u won't know what a slapping machine is until u watch the movie
@@hippielady123 you mean the vending machine game Dieector Hal Ashby is playing at the Santa Cruz boardwalk?
Back in the day, youngsters wanting to learn to play acoustic guitar worked on songs like these from Cat, Neil Young... just to name two of many great singer/songwriters.
Cat Stevens recorded so many great songs, and this is surely one of them. One of my favorites of his songs is Longer Boats.
Another rarely mentioned great song. If l Laugh, How Can I Tell You, 18th Avenue and Sun/C79 another few examples.
The remarkable thing is with the exception of Morning has broken, every Cat Stevens song you've listened to so far is from the same album namely "Tea for the Tillerman". I'm so happy that you're falling in love with him. I hope there are songs like this for you because every time I hear one of his songs it takes me to a place, a fond memory.
Did they react to Morning Has Broken? I must have missed that. And was pushing for them to react to a specific concert version that's on YT, that sounds like they're in a recording studio, pure and perfect.
They also reacted to Peace Train, which is from the album Teaser and the Firecat.
Would love to hear, the boy with the moon and star on his head.
@@DJHolte Yes, "Teaser and the Firecat" is another fine album from Cat Stevens. The songs “Moonshadow” and “Bitterblue” are favorites of mine.
The album this song comes from, Tea For The Tillerman, is a perfect experience from start to finish -- with amazing songs like Sad Lisa, Wild World, Miles From Nowhere, Father and Son, & Into White -- you would love the whole thing, and it's something I've listened to as a child and continue to listen as an adult.
We tried in the 70’s to change things it’s about our environment, and we still are . We started the ecology movement. I’m still fighting for my grandchildren.
I'm the same I'm at my happiest when out in nature listening to nature's animals, even at 69 it's my go to.
Then we turned Maga,sheesh 😪
Harold and Maude is a cult classic you guys would love it
I was a 10 year old boy and had 3 older sisters and one of them bought Cat Stevens albums, it was the first "modern" music I ever heard. I loved it especially the sound of the acoustic guitar which my parents eventually gave me one on my 14th birthday. His album Tea For The Tillerman was my favourite of his back then.
"Moonshadow," "Into White," and "Sad Lisa." All three are just gorgeous!
I was just about to mention these songs ❤
MAN - YA'LL are on FIRE, TONIGHT, with the PICKS!!! THANKS! Ya'll really should watch Harold and Maude....GOOD MOVIE!! HUGS!
'Can't Keep It In' is a great song from Cat Stevens.
Woooohoooo! I love this song so much. It's even more relevant today than when he wrote it!
this, "The Wind" and "Peace Train" and his most beautiful songs in my opinion
Peace Train is a must listen!
Oh, looks like they already reacted to Peace Train and Morning Has Broken
A couple of lesser known lovely songs are If l Laugh and How Can l Tell You.
Ah, The Wind. Used to listen to that sweet songalot and haven’t heard it in years.
One of the greatest singer songwriters of ALL time. Beautiful songs. Please do Sad Lisa next
Love Sad Lisa, and Wild World.
Yes, so Sad Lisa!
They don’t read the comments. So no, they won’t review Sad Lisa.
Banapple Gas.
Love Sad Lisa. So beautiful and haunting.
This song, and IF YOU WANT TO SING OUT, SING OUT are a couple of my faves - Ditto on all the remarks to put HAROLD & MAUDE (1971) on your Movie Reaction channel! It features a Cat Stevens soundtrack.
LOVE Cat Stevens!! All of his are great!
Goes to show the world is changing….it was changing when he wrote this and so it goes today.
Thanks for the reaction. This was the first song I ever heard from him. We had that album TEA FOR THE TILLERMAN, in the bunk I was in in a summer camp back in 1969 or 1970. And I think this song was also a single. In any case it was the first song I heard, and I fell in love with it. I think I got the album or the wore it out on vinyl
One of my favorite songs from Tea for the Tillerman. Love this album so much I have 2 copies of it because I wore one out!
You can’t go wrong with any song on Tea For the Tillerman or Teaser and the Firecat, but give Catch Bull at Four a try. You won’t regret it.
Love you guys
Tea and Teaser were practically required for every high school kid's record collection at the beginning of the Seventies. On my first actual "Date" we saw him in Chicago around 1970 or 71.
Also Buddha and the Chocolate Box.
18th Avenue......love it.
@@mikegalvin9801Lucky you!
@@markmacdonald8512 Great track, favourite on that album.
Love your passion for children learning through playing and using their imagination.
He will hit your soul every time. Yusef - Cat Stevens is beyond a special talented artist. So many songs....'The Wind' , If I Laugh', 'How Can I Tell You', " Two Fine People, ' Sad Lisa ' and so many many more.
You mentioned two favourite songs there which are seldom mentioned. If I Laugh and How Can I Tell You.
Any track off Tea for the Tillerman or Teaser and the Firecat is brilliance at a level very few musicians have reached.
I have every Album of Cat Stevens, he is a great singer/songwriter !!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite Cat Steven's SONGS!!! THIS SONG S TIMELESS AND STILL SO REVELENT TODAY. WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR PLANET ITS THE ONLY ONE WE GOT. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS FOR REACTING TO THIS SONG. LOVE YOU BOTH 😍
Must watch Harold and Maude!
Thank you for another song from the man who helped change my thinking. This is one of the songs from the soundtrack of the cult classic HAROLD & MAUDE starring Ruth Gordon and Bud Cory. All music is by Cat. I hope someday you’ll see it. You won’t be disappointed. Peace
Cat Stevens is one of those artists that writes songs with so much depth and meaning. I grew up listening to him.Sad Lisa Lisa is one of my favorites.
Have a soft spot for Cat Stevens as it’s what my dad would listen to on our family car trips as a kid.
Dad is still alive, but we don’t often do the family trips etc now
He’s got so many good songs 😄 “Sitting” is a personal favourite
ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE SONGS OF ALL TIME,,,,,,,,,,,THE ALBUM IS FANTASTIC !!!
Rob and Amber listen to Cat's "On The Road to Find Out" from the album "Tea For The Tillerman"
This was off his classic album “Tea for the Tillerman” it’s like a greatest hits album. Every song is brilliant.
- “Harold and Maude” for the cult classic win!
- You should consider doing “Harold and Maude” for one of your movie nights.
- It's very "interesting"/different. And, I think people will be interested in your reactions, and take on things.
- Enjoy :) ...
It's a great movie
3 awesome songs tonight!!! This is one of the greatest Cat Steven's songs. He was one of the top beloved singer songwriters for sure. And as others said Harold and Maude was a beloved movie by the youth of the day. My favorite song by Cat Steven's is Hard Headed Woman.
"Lady D'Arbanville" was one of his first songs that got attention and an excellent one.
He was in a relationship with actress Patty D'Arbenville & he wrote that song & Wild World about her. He was content with a simple life & she wanted to pursue her career.
The whole album that this was on - Tea for the Tillerman - is outstanding. Other songs on the album that are worth a listen include Hard-Headed Woman, Wild World, Father and Son, Sad Lisa
Dude, you married one smart lady. Amber you're song interpretations are so good, way to go.
Definitely.
Absolutely my favorite film! “Harold and Maude” just edges out “Brother Sun and Sister Moon” that had Donovan’s music.
Do more music from them and react to them!
This song is...everything.
ALSO: You would love "If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out"
The contribution Cat Stevens has made to music is immeasurable. Bravo.
This is the first song on one of the greatest albums ever made, Tea For the Tillerman. Every song is worth a reaction!
I think you guys would love the movie Harold and Maude in which this beautiful song is part of the soundtrack 👍🏼👌🏼
Brilliant Brilliant Cat Stevens. He wrote such great songs like "first cut is the deepest "
Great song, early Cat Steven’s albums were eagerly devoured by me as a teenager, I’m now 68 and still listening to him. My personal favourite song was always “Lady D'Arbanville”. The song was from his 3rd album released from Mona Bone Jakon and was a change in style towards folk rock. However it builds stunningly and is on of the best break up songs ever in my opinion, his break up with the American model-actress Patti D’Arbanville. You should check it out. Very powerful and very poetic.
This is probably my Cat Stevens favorite. I love how low he gets with his voice in the chorus.
Love Lady D’Arbanville (amazing guitar work plus haunting tune and lyrics) by Cat Steven’s plus Hard Headed woman.
Please watch and react to Harold and Maude. All of the songs are Cat Steven's songs! You will love them. It's a quirky love story. Amber if you just breathe though the first part you will get through to a charming romance. Close your eyes and breathe.
Yes please do
One of my very faves of Cat’s. Love it when the drumroll kicks in.
An environmental song way before anyone in music beside the late great John Denver ever gave notice to environmental issues. This song "Where Do The Children Play" came out of his great album "Tea For The Tillerman in (1971)." It also had another great song title "Father And Son." Brilliant!
This song is pure greatness!
I grew up playing in the woods and creeks ...the best years of my life . No cell phones no video games just nature and our imagination. Thanks for playing this song !
There was and is nobody quite like Cat Stevens. So original ad so gifted. His wonderful songwriiting ,guitar playing and unique voice has had a major influence on me over the years...You cant help but be moved by his beautiful songs...Please try "Sad Lisa"' or Into White
Another Cat Stevens song I love is "Two Fine People".
on the same album, "TEA FOR THE TILLERMAN" check out the song, "SAD LISA".
In my humble opinion, comfortably his best song.
Easily one of his top 5 songs of all time.
In addition to the lyrics and his voice...his acoustic guitar was always at the forefront in his songs. Nothing fancy, but so warm and inviting.
Great musician, singer, and song writer! Thanks for the listen.
Very hard hitting lyrics and unfortunately still very pertinent today!
Keep RAISING the VIBRATIONS, Much LOVE to ALL
Cat Stevens had such an incredible baritone voice...
The Boy With a Moon and Star on His Head is another rarely mentioned lovely Cat Stevens song.
Cat Stevens is TOTALLY UNIQUE.
Soooo many great songs & the fact that he left all this ( corrupt music business ) behind at the height of his career tells you a lot about his soul!
I was coming of age when this song came out and after all these years it never gets old.
That song is one of my earliest memory ever, I was around 4 years old in 1971. My older brothers had his albums.
Cat Stevens plays rhythm guitar on his records. His long time friend Alun Davies is the guy who plays all the lovely lead guitar parts and is still playing alongside Cat today. He never gets the credit.
Cat Stevens songs were loved by everybody during his hay day, so cool…💜💜
3 Top songs by top artists in one day, what a treat! Thanks guys! :)
Cat Stevens had countless hits that are still sung around the campfires all around the world. Tea for the Tillerman is one of these perfect albums that never will age and you can take any song from it and it will hit you!
BTW please dig a little bit into Donovan's catalogue, he is one of the most incredible songwriters of all time and one of the most influencial musicians (also for the Beatles) in the 60s and he did all styles from simple guitar folk to psychedelia, eastern music, and hard rock.
Cat took a simple question and put that burden on all of us. A remarkable use of music to educate the masses. If only we listen to this message. A masterpiece in songwriting.
Again in the great 60's-70's all original sounds. You did Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, The Love I Lost but it was from Soul Train so it was cut way short. You need studio album versions to get the full sound. So try "Don't Leave Me This Way" from the Wake up Everybody album, all 6 min & 5 sec. to get full effact of the Blue Notes, Teddy Pendergrass and the Keyboards. Guarantee this will be an all time favorite for both you and Amber.
The first time I heard CS was when I was running a homeless shelter in the 80's. This song has been so relevant at any time asking such a simple question, where do they get to play.. His catalog of music is incredible and his voice is so amazing.
