That really doesn't sound good at all. That's not right, invading someones personal space without permission in public like that. I will say though, perhaps if there was positive engagement with the attendees about the topic, instead of hostile warnings, the problem might become less severe. Some of these guys that are really into Anime and such have developmental disabilities and as someone with Asperger's, I know how it feels to have demands I don't understand placed on me without any explanation. Also, I know for a fact that it's not just men doing this... though they are the majority I'm sure. We poor men do tend to be born with such things more often after all. Such a thing should garner sympathy, but sadly I see a lot of people saying "see how much better women are" instead. Those kinds of people suck so much.

Tips for staying healthy at a con! 1. Take vitamin C supplements (like emergen-c) or eat v.c rich foods before, during, and after the con, this will help your body bounce back from potential illness from all the close contact with hundreds of people 2. Even if you're cosplaying and it's not canon to the character, bring a bag that's at least big enough to fit a standard sized plastic water bottle, and drink the contents of said bottle. It also helps if you can fit a snack in there so you can take some granola or another snack that you can munch on to help prevent shopping on an empty stomach (trust me, it helps reduce cost of snacks by a lot) 3. If you have a lot you want to do and not a lot of time left over to actually eat, drink nutritional shakes! They will help you meet your nutritional needs for the day if you wind up running out of time to actually eat (don't use them to replace meals though, it's just to help keep your body functioning until you can eat real food) 4. If you're cosplaying, at least try to keep it seasonally appropriate, I made this mistake last con and boy did I regret it. It was like 100+°F outside and I was wearing so many layers... so many layers..... If you can't bring yourself to vote down a cosplay due to weather, make sure that you have a way to either cover up (for winter) or cool off (for summer). Bundle up with easily removable layers for winter (you can take them off in the bathroom and stuff them in a bag and vice versa for exiting the venue) and for heat, make sure you have fans. Not one, but multiple ones. You can get one of those slim battery operated ones that hang around your neck and hide it in your shirt (or armor) so that you have a consistent flow of cool air, and bring a second (manual or battery operated) fan. The second can serve as backup should the first fan fail, or if it's two manual fans, then you can make twice the breeze. (Or lend it to a friend or someone in need, they'll definitely appreciate it) Hope this helps!
@@bokutozz-5317 thank you! I just want to make sure my fellow con goers stay safe, it can be difficult to stay healthy during cons (as someone with adhd this is especially true) so I wanted to give some tips on how!
Had my first anime convention experience just over a month ago, this guide was so incredibly accurate to the point where it wasn't even a joke And now I'm addicted to them, looking forward to the next one I plan to go to in 5 month
For me the first con I went to was "yiffcon [REDACTED]" cleaning up after 953 was not fun... nor was losing the livers of half my team... but the surviving people were friendly enough. Hope you enjoyed yours last month-ish though!
Yes, but well, Gigguk's point stands firm either way: Using bodyspray cannot replace a shower. Good thing I've never been to an Anime Convention before... I guess?
Imagine being an extraterrestrial anime fan, and watching this as a guide before your first con cosplaying as a human, and taking this 100% at face value.
I think there was a man at a con who was asking cosplayers for hugs. Turns out he had a go pro strapped to his chest so he could video/take photos of girls’ breasts.
Another possible factor of the post con period is the sudden realization that your throat feels like it got put through a blender and you body temperature is hotter than the surface of the sun. You have most likely contracted the _"Con Flu"_ , an epidemic caused by a handful of hopeless weebs who prioritizing indulging in a con over their actual physical health resulting in them inadvertently spreading their germs to everyone they pass by. You might think that since you're too sick to go to work this is the perfect opportunity to catch up with all your unfinished anime and games, but you'll soon find yourself in too much excruciating pain and discomfort to even indulge in your precious Moe collection. This illness will only worsen your depression as you begin to become aware of the crushing fact that no one is there to care for you because you're lonely and have no real friends. You can try various methods to avoid catching the dreaded _Con Flu_ via various means such as the aforementioned hand sanitizer or the irrational consumption of cough drops but all it takes in the stray uncovered sneeze or a rampant glomper to ensure your inevitable infection.
"It's better to feel regret not being able to pay rent for a month than regret not buying that figurine for your entire life" That is the words of a true genius
I went to my first anime con when I was 13 with my mom because I knew no one who like it. Bless that woman she was so confused but she still took me anyway.
Damn I appreciate her effort to bring you happinness but I myself am so glad I never went through that experience when I was little, it would make me feel like a useless nobody just being uncomfortable and unappreciated the whole time (not referring to anyone else here, I'm only speaking for myself).
The first (and so far only) convention I've gone to had an auditorium. When they began playing the Pokemon Opening I heard many screams while people did cringy Fortnite dances and People Naruto ran into the auditorium to sing the Pokemon theme song in unison. It was at that moment where I knew that I was where I belonged.
At the last anime convention I went to, I saw a figurine I really wanted. I'd only brought about $150, cause I'm a teenager and that's all the money I had to spend at the time. My dad is a nerd too, so he has no issue taking his nerdy daughters to conventions and such (which is fucking awesome) so luckily, at least until I'm an adult, rooming and food and whatnot is something I don't have to worry about when going to a con. Anywho, so this figurine was super cute right? I mean of course it was, it was one of my two main anime wives. So this figurine is only around $60. Which wasn't too horrible as compared to how expensive that shit CAN get. So y'know, I figured 'sure, why not?' even if it did put a sizable dent in all the money I'd saved over the past month or two. I buy the figurine and I'm super happy with my purchase. Fast forward to just last summer, me and my family take a trip to Japan. My uncle lives there in a little town called Fussa, and it was super nice. We were pretty close to Akihabara, so in the couple weeks we were there we visited a few times. I'm in one of the many anime shops there, and what do I see? I see the figurine I'd bought only a couple months prior. And how much does it cost? ONLY 1800 FUCKING YEN. (The exchange rate is always changing, but that's only like.. $14-$17) FUCKIN UGGGHH. GOD DAMN ANIME CONVENTIONS AND THEIR OVERPRICED BULLSHIT. The worst part is, I know I'm still gonna buy the stuff for the overpricing that there is.
BlackRoses Thorn H-HEY! IVE HEARX OF FUSSA! IF YIU WATCH ONLY IN JAPAN GO SEARCH HIS UA-cam CHANNEL IT'S ALL ABOUT FOOD! AND TRAVELING TO JAPAN! AND STUFF LIKE THAT! BUT BTW! MY COUSIN LICES IN FUSSA JAPAN!

this past year I went to anime boston and bernie sanders was staying in the hotel connected to the convention center so there now exists photos of bernie sanders with furries
A few years ago, I took my fiancee to my first anime convention (Japan Expo 2019, France), not really knowing what I was going into, as the only few people I knew were going to that type of events were perfectly fine people, met most of them at work or at the gym. I wasn't a major anime enthusiast, only the old ones like Ghost in the Shell, and a few here and there once every six months or so. I assumed some people might be a bit weirdish, but they would probably have basic hygiene and social skills. There's no good ending. I was single a week later.
ITS WE'RE YOU GO DRESSED UP AS YOU'RE FAVORITE ANIME AND SEE YOU'RE FAVORITE THING'S! AND BUY THEM IF YOU WANT!. AND THEN!!!!... AT THE END I THINK THEY GIVE YOU A HUGE BAG OF MERCHANDISE FROM ALL THE TYPES OF ANIME YOU LIKE AND SOME THAT YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF!
It's not the wallet putting a hit on me. It's the loan sharks that got pissed I took $500000 from them to buy some fucking weeb trash. Oh well. Time to change countries again. I hear Noth Korea is beautiful this time of year.
Don't bother with North Korea, just find some unaffiliated loan sharks to borrow more cash from, and use the cash to pay for a new identity along with the plastic surgery to change your appearance. Then, you'll be ready to borrow from the first batch of loan sharks for your next con.
There was this one time where I desperately wanted to take pictures with DDLC cosplayers. The day before I went to a con last February, my best friend was sleeping over at my house, and I was telling her about what I really wanted, and she was telling me that I'm gonna see my Dokis. The next day, at the con, my friend, other friend, my mom, and I were waiting for the merch hall to open up in a huge crowd of people, and all of a sudden, I saw a Monika cosplayer in the distance behind me. I started yelling, "MONIKA! MONIKA! MONIKA!", and my mom was like, "We're not going anywhere until these doors open up!" and then I said to my mom, "Mom, if you love me, you'll let me go over there!" and my mom reluctantly agreed. My best friend and I speed ran to the cosplayer, and we were fangirling really hard about her cosplay. The cosplayer seemed to appreciate us loving her cosplay, and let us take a selfie with her. First I had one with her, and then my friend mushed me in her selfie. The cosplayer was holding a box of heart shaped cookies, and you know what she did? She gave us each a cookie! I thought that was the nicest thing a cosplayer has ever done for me, even if I was a complete stranger to them. The cookie was really good, too!
My weirdest anime con experience: turning up at the reception desk and finding that all the attendee badges had some of my artwork on them. They hadn't told me they were going to use it. :/

Can confirm. Every year I tell myself I'll run by the hotel restaurant and eat and then it's suddenly 3am and the rave is happening and all the restaurants are closed and I can't even make myself regret my near death experience via starvation...
@@gino5214 I suppose it depends. I've been to two anime cons and only one of them actually served any kind of food and that was more or less the snack station at the hotel. The other con center had no food, unless you counted the cheap hot dog carts outside and the water vendors yelling about how their bottled water is only a dollar. Also good luck actually trying to eat in a reasonable distance from the con because everything will be packed. You are going to be waiting an hour from start to finish. What I usually wind up doing is buying a massive pack of bottled water and some simple food I can prepare in the hotel room or take with me. It's a lot cheaper than eating out every day, three meals a day.
The best anime-con regular people interaction was the end of the relationship with the hotel we used for it. Someone had their wedding the same weekend as the Con. Things were off to a bad start when someone asked her who she was cosplaying in her wedding dress, but to get out of paying for the damages they did they blamed the con. So after 17 years we were kicked out of the hotel for all future cons.
As someone who has personally met you in AX 2017 in downtown LA, meeting you was honestly my biggest highlight. I doubt you'll remember this, but you signed my two dollar bill (I have it hanging on display in my room) and I took a selfie with you afterwards. And you were the most friendly famous person I've met there. You didn't seem like you got tired of meeting your subscribers which was something I found amazing because you'd think a famous person would get sick of constantly being bombarded by fans, but it wasn't the case with you, Gigguk. THANK YOU so much for coming to AX 2017. Even though the food and products were great there, meeting you in person was my best moment of 2017. In my country a $2 bill can be reported as counterfeit by an elementary school cafeteria lady, who then calls the police and imprisons a young girl until they take it to a bank and find out that it was just a bill that's been in circulation for a very long time.

This is extremely accurate. "Kawaii" is used primarily by weebs, "sugoi" is more used by those who intend to mock said weebs and any and all JoJo references are a demonstration of a person having good taste in anime.
I was so excited when I booked tickets for my very first anime convention... which got cancelled. Thank you for preaching the ways of the anime convention - the currently forbidden artform of gathering.
This is very important. Use deodorant. Ask before you take a photo. Don't stand in he middle of the street and go to the side to let others by. I haven't even been to a Con before (yet) and even I know that. These are rules but just know to be friendly and be aware of other people around you.

There was that one time when there was an Anime convention and a Christian Evangelical conference at the same place at the same time. it's cause you have to hide the actual animes you love from the people in your church congregation or else they will think you're the creepiest person ever
Same, I'm a Christian and watch anime. But anime isn't seen as a bad thing or shunned at my church. They just don't care about that cuz it's nothing bad or threatening.... Also I have a lot of anime fans and gamers as friends at church.
2:08 I love how you added Ladybeard 🤣🤣🤣 That guy’s a legend 😂 An Aussie wrestler who also used to cross-dress in a Japanese Kawaii Metal band along with two Japanese girls (which unfortunately disbanded)
Dafrogeron I pretty much don't. I'm fine when a non-Japanese is interested in my country's culture, but some people certainly have mental problems that make it more than a "passion". Even Japanese otakus tend to have bad taste. I get that real society's choice of clothing is boring, though. IRL fashion is sadly mundane.
Iv been at one and felt out of place 😐 i would love to fit in but i just couldnt. I love anime but the convention just felt strange. Saw some hot grills tho that was a plus!
I only went once to an anime convention and it was at anime expo 2017. From my experience, I feel that the only reason why I felt weird around everyone there was because I made it awkward. Lemme explain: while everyone there is freely expressing there love for w/e anime, genre, etc they are into and being goofy and having fun I'm there being scared that I would be judged by other people. (Especially since I'm a guy who grew up watching sailormoon and hamtaro....that's how my love and respect for anime began). So not trying to give any advice or anything but i;m going to attend this year again as well and this time I'm going there with an open mind knowing that every individual is unique in their own way and are here to show their love for anime in general. However...I'm going to try to avoid checking out hot maids from now on because sometimes it could be a trap....
Bruh, one time I went to a place called the Ontario Science Centre which is... exactly what I said. But I went there to see an imax film in this really cool theatre. All things I’ve said so far are unrelated to anime, right? But that doesn’t stop an army of Sailor Moons (Male and Female) from having a convention there. How great!
I'm a baby? Budget is a skill? I should bring Pocky? People forget showers? There're black holes at conventions? I should stand right in the way there? There's a Bible Black panel? Normal society is deadly?

1. Take vitamin C supplements (like emergen-c) or eat v.c rich foods before, during, and after the con, this will help your body bounce back from potential illness from all the close contact with hundreds of people
2. Even if you're cosplaying and it's not canon to the character, bring a bag that's at least big enough to fit a standard sized plastic water bottle, and drink the contents of said bottle. It also helps if you can fit a snack in there so you can take some granola or another snack that you can munch on to help prevent shopping on an empty stomach (trust me, it helps reduce cost of snacks by a lot)
3. If you have a lot you want to do and not a lot of time left over to actually eat, drink nutritional shakes! They will help you meet your nutritional needs for the day if you wind up running out of time to actually eat (don't use them to replace meals though, it's just to help keep your body functioning until you can eat real food)
4. (Or lend it to a friend or someone in need, they'll definitely appreciate it)
Hope this helps!

@@peaceandloveusa6656 completely wrong. 1. it's 2021, so bad start, 2. forcing people to wear masks is always going to be wrong. 3. we are not in a pandemic anymore we are in an endemic, meaning it's going to be as common as the cold or flu from now on. period. and it mutates so fast no shot or lockdown will fix this. 4. the who, china and fouchi all lied to the american public causing the crisis to get worse, not to mention states like ny actually were warned they needed to restock, and upgrade their ventilators in 2017 or 18 and ignored it because it would have cost too much. Then without a plan threw all the sick old people in nursing homes unequipt to deal with the illness letting it spread like wildfire. If you want to lock yourself down don't punish the rest of us. and if you don't understand virology then that's your fault for not going out of your way to stay scienfitically educated. america weren't the assholes, we were lied to, manipulated and then drove to hysterics. and no one refers to c-19 as an endemic even though it was catagorized as such MONTHS ago. you want to hate america and americans for being scientifically illiterate and making things worse well you are the problem. oh not to mention lockdowns don't work in a lot of places cause condos and appartments for the most part have connected ventilation. a sars virus in asia before c-19 had a massive outbreak in an appartment building due to 1 man with the runs because sars or at least that strain, not all, but that strain of sars was transmitable from the fecal oral route.

The other con center had no food, unless you counted the cheap hot dog carts outside and the water vendors yelling about how their bottled water is only a dollar. Also good luck actually trying to eat in a reasonable distance from the con because everything will be packed. You are going to be waiting an hour from start to finish.
(Yes, I'm liking my own comment because I really want him to see my appreciation.)
congratulations, you just wasted 2 dollars
Carstea Florentin nah it was totally worth it
codyriceandothers á
in my country you can buy half a liter of ice cream with 2 dollars and still get change. So don't underestimate the value of 2 dollars.
In my country a $2 bill can be reported as counterfeit by an elementary school cafeteria lady, who then calls the police and imprisons a young girl until they take it to a bank and find out that it was just a bill that's been in circulation for a very long time.
3:51 don’t worry Mr Bean is there protecting us! He’s my waifu!
Jack Fernley I didn’t see that XD
I saw that too lmao
Wonder what he's doing there...

Johnny English. Not bean
After attending two anime cons, this is 100% accurate
Best of luck to you for the next 20 cons, friend!
Just 2
@@matthew_natividad I know, right, newbie congoers are so kawaii!
Wait until you attend your 20 year anniversary going to conventions. Time goes by real fast after attending your first con.
This makes me more interested in cons than I already am
Same.
This year's comic on is being hosted near where I live, based on what I have heard. I am going in foundation uniform to see how long it takes for bright or some anomaly to poke its head out. This is going to be fun containment.
"Go to Anime Expo", he said. "You can meet me", he said.
Now I'm broke. Thanks Gigguk.
Seriously though it was fun.
Stfu weeb
i dont have money
wish i went
The only reason I'd go to Anime Expo is to see Mega64 (and Gigguk if he's there)
When you can't physically continue the video because "and sometimes even breed with their own kind" has you dying.
Right? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like these people aren't incel.
all of this is so true although I will add that the line for badges the day before is actually the best part, that's when you get all your cosplay photos, where you hear all those dead memes, where you flirt with that really cute Suzuno cosplayer while you try to ignore the fact her ponytail is on the wrong side and where you hear all the cosplayers yelling out attack names while thrusting there weapons in the air while all the Gokus try to go super saiyan
Me: an adult weeb
My sister:teenage weeblet
Me: lets go to an anime con
Also me: cosplay and I will disown you
Lol
Weeblet sounds cute as heck
@@kzwei2 yep twitter is something else entirely, that place is a dumpster fire honestly.
I only meant it as a compliment. if i had a younger sister I’d probably spoil her a lot, but just like you, no way I am letting her cosplay so creepy dudes can ogle her at a convention.
@@nineten9011 as an older brother (my sister was born 11 years after me)I spoil her rotten and was always worry about her and whenever I see shitnlike that on Twitter it scares me

kawaii: i am a weeb
sugoi: i am mocking a weeb
jojo reference: a demonstration of all parties in a situation being greatly cultured
Joj Deluxe What's jojo?
Janezki ö A fantastic anime my friend. A fantastic anime. Let me just say that the second season involves a 190 cm tall English-American man breathing to defeat three Aztec-vampire-fitness gods obsessed with posing. Oh, and he recruits a blond guy that fights with bubbles, a MILF, and a cyborg Nazi along the way.
themasterquester *multiple delicious MILFs
This is extremely accurate. "Kawaii" is used primarily by weebs, "sugoi" is more used by those who intend to mock said weebs and any and all JoJo references are a demonstration of a person having good taste in anime.
Weeb-Boltzmann Law: "The weeb density is inversely proportional to the distance traveled away from the convention in miles."
Find a good place to consume alcohol that can poison a FUCKING ELEPHANT
Even 5 years later this video is still 100% accurate.
Before I played the video, I was like "I wonder how much of this is still going to apply in 2022" and it seems like almost all of it still applies.

Thank you, Gigguk. Thank you very much.

These are rules but just know to be friendly and be aware of other people around you.
i often take photos without asking if someone is moving in a crowd and i just cant get them ( saw a Xayah and Rakan duo on a Con once , there were lots of people around them)
because figures are something special , priorities
If i go and hear Sugoi I'm going to start yelling about Russian fighters

There was that one time when there was an Anime convention and a Christian Evangelical conference at the same place at the same time. Being both Christian and an Anime fan I was like, "I'm sure you guys have been renewed with the passion to preach the gospel, you should start by talking to the lady carrying the giant pentagram...
Twisted Banana Productions
Well... I bet that was a fun experience. XD
Also, always nice to meet a fellow Christian anime fan. I feel like we're often far and few between...
Maybe there's a reason for that....
it's cause you have to hide the actual animes you love from the people in your church congregation or else they will think you're the creepiest person ever
Neon genesis evangelism
Same, I'm a Christian and watch anime. But anime isn't seen as a bad thing or shunned at my church. They just don't care about that cuz it's nothing bad or threatening.... Also I have a lot of anime fans and gamers as friends at church.
Well it is easy. Have you seen animes? The sentence "every day we stray further from the light of god" is literally the truth when it comes to anime.
Why does Gigguk have to make everything so deep? Jesus i feel bad now Sorry Mirai Kuriyama , but we're throught.
A casual Black Guy because it's all tru and AX is just around the corner
2:08 I love how you added Ladybeard 🤣🤣🤣
That guy’s a legend 😂
An Aussie wrestler who also used to cross-dress in a Japanese Kawaii Metal band along with two Japanese girls (which unfortunately disbanded)
I have anxiety and I’d recommend bringing meds and a friend
having a breakdown in the middle of a con is not a good experience
Shit I didn’t even think about that
I really want to go now....
ElectricPyroclast lol yeah
Kerwin C lol
Kerwin C yea
Dafrogeron really? This makes me NOT want to go this year lmao
Iv been at one and felt out of place 😐 i would love to fit in but i just couldnt. I love anime but the convention just felt strange. Saw some hot grills tho that was a plus!
Little Light same. I love anime and cartoons and video games but I do not fit in with either normal people or weeboos.
However...I'm going to try to avoid checking out hot maids from now on because sometimes it could be a trap....
bob johnson GO WITH A FRIEND WHO ALSO WATCHES ANIME IF THEY DONT WATCH ANIME MAKE WATCH IT WORKED FOR ME
I prefer traps, but seeing some cute girls is good too
Wait guys he didn't say "hot girls" he said "hot grills", to make BBQ DUH. Who doesn't like grills?
As someone who has gone to a convention; I can confirm that one of the lines of a panel had to wrap around itself a total of 4 times.
6:21 IT SO F*CKIN TRUE 😂😂
someone who understands!!
Maybe if you drive to the con in a food truck...

JaxBlade I’m pretty sure Fish at a Japanese Restaurant is healthy…
Bruh, one time I went to a place called the Ontario Science Centre which is... exactly what I said. But I went there to see an imax film in this really cool theatre. All things I’ve said so far are unrelated to anime, right? But that doesn’t stop an army of Sailor Moons (Male and Female) from having a convention there. How great!
Jacob Novak ah pretty heroes con lol
I live like 5 minutes away from there and we visit it like every weekend.
WHEN AND HOW DID I FREAKING MISS A WHOLE SAILOR MOON CONVENTION?
I'm a baby? Budget is a skill? I should bring Pocky? People forget showers? There're black holes at conventions? I should stand right in the way there? There's a Bible Black panel? Normal society is deadly?
Xhante chan all of what you said is true

There are only three reasons to attend a con:
1) VA's
2) Cosplayers
3) Alcohol Poisoning
