I had to play it back and listen in to hear that weird chirping sound. I never caught it before and you're the first to point it out, I don't think I would have ever noticed it. Don't know what it is but we'll check it out and see if we can recreate it next time and find out.
@@AF_Gulfstream We removed the valves in all sound clips, have not figured out the chirping noise but this does exist with the factory system as well. Maybe someone from GM can help answer this question

I've had the straight pipe for about 6 months now on 2019 Sierra 5.3. @@devineunlimited6800 We're waiting for one to run our exhaust challenge on. If you are local to SoCal we could use your truck or subscribe to our channel and we'll post as soon as we have it. Thanks.
Stupid question I’m sure everyone asks.. hard to tell from the video, but what would u recommend for a nice clean throaty sound, but not one that will make the neighbors hate me or hate myself when I’m driving down the freeway at 70mph?
Flowmaster Super 10 was our favorite. Thank you.
What all was removed in these videos? Did you leave the resonators, and the flap? Or is this just straight pipe and the muffler's?
Hello Colt, we removed the muffler and exhaust flap only, reusing the existing tail pipes with resonators. Please subscribe for more updates.
both Borla all the way
Thank you
So does getting rid of that exhaust flapper hurt anything? Or what's the purpose of them
Removing the exhaust valve does not hurt anything. It's there to control the sound when the truck goes into the 4 cylinder mode to save fuel. Please subscribe for more updates. Thank you
My question is, what will sound best on a stage 2 cam, long tube headers off a y-pipe?
What sound level (aggressive, super aggressive. low bass tone, quiet) and are you going to install the cat converters? True dual exhaust?
FMS Performance no cats, not true duals, I want an aggressive sound, but not as loud as it is straight pipes. The cold start is to obnoxious the way it is.
How do i know what inlet/outlet option to choose for my 2019 trailboss?? 2.5 single offset on both, whats the difference if i go with another option im not familiar
Which muffler would you prefer and I'll send you the part number to use.
FMS Performance also interested in part number for flowmaster 40 series.
2019 trailboss LT
Thanks
@@jamaaledwards4380 For the Flowmaster 40 series we used part number 42541 fmsperformance.com/shop/performance-mufflers/flowmaster-40-series/
Was the flapper removed with all muffler sound clips? I’m interested in the borla atak, magnaflow, or straight pipe. What is the magnaflow part #. Also, what clamps did you use to connect the ones I mentioned. Thanks
Hello James, yes we removed the exhaust valve. We welded all the mufflers, no clamps.

Borla #400945

Thank you
Last question, why are some you used 2 1/2” in/out and some 3” in/out? I’m trying to decide which route to go(so many options) and does it really make much of a difference?
@@jamesardisana3326 Yes, we removed the exhaust valve in all muffler sound clips for this truck. We used the parts that were available to us for this challenge. For the three inch mufflers we slipped the 3 inch adapter pipe inside the mufflers inlet & outlet, and for the 2 1/2 inch we slipped the 3 inch adapter pipe over the muffler inlet & outlet. The factory pipe size is between 2 1/2 & 3 inch so it works either way. Thank you
@@FMSPerformance how much of a difference would the sound be if the exhaust valve hadn't been removed?
@@amattusaf Would be much quieter at idle and a small difference at acceleration
These all sound like the resonators are still there...why?
Good ear. Yes they are. We wanted to hear what it would sound like with just the mufflers changed with the factory tailpipes. Please subscribe for more updates. Thank you
How did u get the borla atak to fit on the 19 gm? I have a 20 sierra 5.3
You will need some 3 inch adapter pipes and it requires welding. I suggest taking it to a local muffler shop. Please subscribe for more updates. Thank you
@@FMSPerformance thank you subbed
Have you done any exhaust on the 6.2 Silverado. Just got a 2020 and was curious to know which one you think would sound best without being overly loud
Do you have a dual system or single system?
FMS Performance It’s the dual system. One in and two out
Check this out. If you just do the muffler swap it won't be as loud as the video on the link below. Thank you, please subscribe for more updates.
fmsperformance.com/shop/performance-mufflers/magnaflow-14161/
FMS Performance I did the super 10 on my 2019 trail boss and sealed the mesh screens and it sounded great. How much louder will it be to do it on a 6.2 and cut out the resonators?
What's that squeaking sound every time you let off the throttle?
I had to play it back and listen in to hear that weird chirping sound. I never caught it before and you're the first to point it out, I don't think I would have ever noticed it. Don't know what it is but we'll check it out and see if we can recreate it next time and find out.
@@FMSPerformance it stood out to me because my 2016 makes a very similar sound when I'm driving and let off the throttle and mine's 100% stock.
The exhaust valve moving maybe. Or did you guys remove the valves?
@@AF_Gulfstream We removed the valves in all sound clips, have not figured out the chirping noise but this does exist with the factory system as well. Maybe someone from GM can help answer this question
Does anyone know if the borla atak muffler is CARB approved?
There is no need for CARB approval for a muffler change. You do need a CARB number for headers, intake, tuner, and catalytic converters.

I believe u have a rev limiter that goes to 3-4 thousand RPM while u sitting in park reving it full I’m planning to buy one maybe I can get a tune and get rid of the limiter rev and put it up to 6.1k RPM
Your correct. We have not found a tuner available for this truck yet. When you do please let us know. Thank you and please subscribe for more updates.
Catback? What is the piping size? You guys used clamps on these right? Great video ! Liked !
This was just a muffler change, no piping. All piping remained stock. We did not measure the stock piping but we believe it to be 2.78" center pipe and 2.38" tail pipes. We sealed the connections before the sound test was taken each time.
@@FMSPerformance Thank you kind sir ! I suggest you do some drive passes or cabin recording !
Am I the only one hearing the idle of another exhaust somewhere? I couldn’t get a good idea over that other truck idling.

Would you recommend the borla atak on a v6 4.3 silverado 1500?
@fmsperformance
No, sorry I can't recommend the Borla Atak for your V6 Silverado. We do recommend the Flowmaster Super 10, very deep aggressive growl. Sounds more like a V8.

FMS Performance what about Flowmaster Outlaw on the 19’ 4.3 Chevy
Will you need doing this for the 6.2 and the 6.6?
Hello Derek, yes we are working on doing another video for the 6.2, 6.0, and 6.6 gas motor. Thank you
Just run straight pipe díd 1 yesterday try all kinds of mufflers got the best sound with straight pipe found out the tail pipes got some kind of baffles inside
Thanks for your comment Fernando. The screens in the tail pipe are resonators, pretty crazy exhaust technology. You can replace the tail pipe or cover the screens with a band clamp to change the tone. Let me know if you try it, I'd love to hear back on your changes and upgrades.
Really can't wait to see an actual quad tip on one of these.
Me to... I'm adding quads to my 40 series on my DENALI. If you cover the resonator screens or removed in it sounds good.
Coolest look for exhaust on trail boss quad tips
Update: I removed the 40 series and went with the Super 44 single in dual out to 4" Quad tips. That Super 44 thou👌🏽
Is the Borla Atak a direct bolt on or is there more to it? Thank you!!
This is a universal Borla Atak muffler that requires adapter piping and can be clamped but welding is recommended.

Thank you for the video! Muffler delete straight pipe the best sound of all.
Thanks for the comment! Please subscribe for more updates.
YES YES AND YES!!!!! I agree!!
I've had the straight pipe for about 6 months now on 2019 Sierra 5.3. Love the aggressive sound but have found out that when cruising to stop or down hill under 10mph it has a horrendous loud popping sound. I'm also getting tired of the drone inside at highway speeds. Watched this video to see which muffler to go with now. The atak sounds just like the straight pipe and hopefully eliminates that popping crackling but is it worth the extra cash?
great video guys! super helpful thanks
