If this is the Black River…it was my dad’s favorite spot when we trout fished in NJ in the early 1980s. The last time we fished it (1984), we limited out on the Fourth of July. My dad’s been gone over three years now. He was my best friend and I can’t bring myself to fish anymore without him. Good memories! 🎣
"This is just turning into a comedy of errors." That sounds like the majority of my trout fishing outings (even when I do get the occasional catch). I have video proof of my own errors! Beautiful area you were fishing. Reminds me of my home state of Maine (just not the fifty degrees in February part).
Good ol black river. Even to 2022 i still find picky brooks and browns in there with miles of footwork. Beautiful place once you are away from the crowds
That was a great way to spend a winter afternoon. Beautiful looking stream and surroundings. You almost fooled a few of those wild trout. You must have left there smiling and that's what it's really all about Tight lines. See you on the next adventure!
i finally trout fished too after a long streak of ice fishing, was a great day and fun to shed off the winter jacket. PA was really good i think that warm trend got em going. I found pocket water fishing to be really tough in winter. Like the guys you talked to they go nuts once it's spring.
Just remember, if it’s easily accessible, everyone fishes it. Those guy told you that to keep you there. The gorge is great but pressured. In NJ we fish the foam
It's possible they were pulling my leg, but I've done well at heavily pressured spots before. You have to learn how to catch pressured fish if you're going to fish in NJ.
No shame - It's rough out there. I went fishing on the same day in an area that I don't think gets fished where I was absolutely sure there'd be fish. Not a single bite. 5 hours, and absolutely nothing. I saw 1 fish all day, and it didn't bite, just chased once. I keep telling myself, just 4 more weeks and things might start getting aggressive again.

That's the kind of stream that I could sit on a rock and listen to the water all day. Just gorgeous. -Mom
Definitely worth the hike.
There's 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back
Next time, There's always a next time. Love, Dad

You were so close! February fishing is never easy but the scenery is gorgeous. What a beautiful place in NJ!
I guess it’s best to get the first skunking over with early. The sting was mitigated by the scenery.
No, it certainly does as not a bust. Positive side-you got a few bites. Absolutely beautiful scenery, nice weather. Nope, not a bust at all! 👍👍🎥
Never thought it was a bust. Thanks.

I left with a HUGE smile. And sore legs. Thanks for watching.
Good to see your videos again. Stay warm my Brother! God speed!
Thanks, you too!
There’s a spot on the Delaware me and my pal canoe through that we call “The Pocket”. This brought back memories. Thanks Lard
Thanks, glad you enjoyed.

Seems like everything goes off in spring. I wish it lasted 12 months instead of just 3.
Love that stream🤫
Definitely quite the hidden gem.
Yesterday was a great day. I threw around a little bit with luck after losing 2 rigs to snags. Gave it up ,threw a magnet around instead😆
Glad you took advantage of the good weather.
Throw a fly rod Dude!

Been a slow start to the year, it can only get better.
Welcome to super pressured NJ fishing. Lots of fishing, little catching.
Looks like Pequest river.
You got to slow it down a little.
