  • THE BIGGEST BROOK TROUT OF THE YEAR!
    SO FLY GEAR: www.soflygear.com
Very rarely do you get the opportunity to catch multiple 11-12 inch native brook trout in a single day, at least not in the Appalachian mountains. After a bunch of research I chose my access point and decided to make a day of it. I drove over an hour on dirt roads and had to hike for a solid hour or more but when I got to this beautiful creek it was worth it. The creek was LOADED with brook trout and had some trophy fish as well. Not only that bu the fish were very willing to take a dry fly which made the day even better. After fishing I was able to make it back out of the woods and am planning to have another trip down to this gem of a stream in the next couple of months to do some more exploring.

Makes me feel spoiled living on the east coast of Canada, I don't even take pictures of them unless they are 13 inches or bigger. With that said they are all beautiful fish and the smaller ones can be just as fun.

Same here. I live in the UP of Michigan and tons of people hate on brookies because the browns and rainbows are the "prized" fish because of their size.

What an extraordinary stream, and what amazing native brook trout! As a quite senior brook trout angler, the likelihood of my finding and accessing such a remote fishery drops significantly with each passing year. But I am delighted, and reassured, to know they still exit. This was a beautifully produced video - and I am very grateful for the continuing excellence of your efforts.

How could you not enjoy this video? It was fantastic. Not only was it nice to see the colorful brookies, but it's nice to see we still have remote places like this to fish. Personally l wouldn't tell a soul about this special place. The way you found this place is the way I like to go... alone. I've done many remote hikes like the one you did. But not so much anymore, now it would probably kill me. Lol. Not as young as I used to be, but I still do pretty good. Excellent excellent video looking forward to watching more. Until next time. My friend would consistently catch 12-15" natives in wv on a certain creek. I've never saw him fish standing up in the open for brookies. He always wore clothing that blended in with the environment and literally crawled up the creek banks. The best days were usually 1-2 days after rain when the water was a little off color. Great videos and nice catch!

Yeah man! I live in WV so it's a good guess that most of the places I fish are WV. Although sometimes I sprinkle in a few other surrounding states for fun!

What a day! Great video work too. It's not easy hauling equipment all day like that. Were those all on dry flies? Any hatches going on?

Mountain speckleds are a real prize. There are many who claim these fish are the best table fare of the trout species.

A stream to really remember and show how a true conservationists leaves no impact. The fish were beautiful and you caught 3 about as large as that stream can support regularly.
Congratulations and well done with a very nice production and presentation.

Brook Trout are char (salvelinus) which are very similar to arctic char (Arctic charr overlap with brook trout in Maine, They can easily be mistaken for brook trout)

New to the channel. Where are you? Smokey Mountain area? Appalachian Mountains? Great fishing btw. I'm a WOTM native (west of the mississippi) and would love to fish the eastern waters too! EDIT: I just realized on the PC version it shows the map icon in your title. I guessed right!
