These Supeer Maramu must be the ideal world cruising sailboat. We keep looking around at various sailboat but somehow we always end up back at a SM. Just imagine taking 10 to 15 years to slowely go everywhere and meet the people in all those far off places and islands. What a dream.
After watching a lot of your videos about your adventures, I finally watched this one. Good to see down below. I know the Amels have an emphasis on access to systems. We berthed near a new Amel 50 last year and it was impressive. The other boat that we would look at is the Kraken 50. There is one for sale in Sydney at the moment. I hope our lottery ticket pays out on Thursday! 😀
What a fabulous tour, thank you. This boat was not on my radar, as I assumed them to be above the price range we are looking in, I was wrong, there are a few. We are currently weighing the pros and cons of the 45-47’ mid 2000’s cats and the 2010 era jeanneau 49-53 Deck Saloon. For a lot of our plans, the Cat sounds so nice, but when I look at things like your passage back to Australia, I can not imagine what that would have been like on a high windage Cat. Even the rear cockpit DS I’m looking at would feel so exposed. Your Jaygo, she is a beautiful tank of a vessel. And that mechanical room is the real highlight to me, stunning arrangement. Room for a dive compressor? Thanks for sharing.
Hey Archer. The Super Maramu is a great boat and the engine room is about the best you could possibly get on a boat this size, but a very different proposition to a 45-47’ cat. Both have pros & cons but you are right, the Amel is a much safer sea boat (in my opinion). Regarding the dive compressor; This was a factory option & the (Bauer Jnr) compressor was fitted to a slide out base in the huge Portside cockpit locker. Some owners have also fitted them in the engine room or in the aft Lazarette as well. Maybe heat in the engine room might not be the best option?
Lovely boat, beautifully kept , I like your wind tower for the main cabin,I will try to copy it for DarNico (SM2K N°471).Safe travels and stay away from Tigers 😅
Thanks Nicholas. The wind scoop is just brilliant. Definitely need it in the tropics. As for the Tiger Sharks, Dee never wants to see one that close ever again. That encounter could have ended very badly. I feel like strangling the people who bait them up to their boats just for fun. Teaching these awesome predators to associate food with yachts is just plain dumb. Same goes for feeding chickens to crocodiles in the wild. 👍 Rob.
Really nice sailboat! I must say that the interior and exterior are in excellent condition. The woodwork inside the boat is, from what I see, like new. I can't see a scratch or hole or mark anywhere. So nice! -- QUESTION -- That large closet in the front opposite the washroom, if you emptyed it could you instal one of those combo washing machines and dryers? Not sure if it would fit but it may be a good location if it was possibe (we are dream building our perfect sailboat and wanted a large washer/dryer) :)
That storage space is easily large enough for a washer but for us it is more practical as is. Some other SM owners have used it for other purposes, including for a washer.
Thanks for asking that question, I've been looking through vids and waiting for that as well, keep hearing that it's an Amel but that's it, 53' wow, any wonder it handled those seas so well, what a beast. Also wondering if you don't mind can I ask how much solar and 12v ah and is there an inverter or just the genny? I've just decided in the last week that I want to buy a yacht, youtubers such as yourself are to blame for that God damn it, never sailed before let alone ever stepped foot on a yacht but what the hell.
@Rosco213. Hey Rosco, we have 430w of Solar but many boats of this size have much more (even 2000w). Jaygo has a house bank of 880ah of AGM but again, many are changing to Lithium Phosphate which is much more efficient. We have a 6.5kVa genset but also 3000w inverter so plenty of options although battery & solar technology is advancing incredibly as the moment. Good luck with your journey. I would strongly advise going to a sailing/yacht club asap & go out on other peoples boats as much as you can. This is the place to start in my view. Rob.
Tyvm, love the tour. Subscribed n cheers from Western Canada 🇨🇦
Cheers back at ya Dennis. 👍💕
Excellent Cruising Boats.

Hey Amanda, if this is the Amanda I am thinking of, how is that 30 footer of yours going? Great boat you have. Rob.
