My PROBLEM with The First Descendant

- I really wanted to add this game to my roster of looter shooters but in its current launch state I just can't. The game is somewhat enjoyable but it's not enough. Let me explain.

@@AdoinkAdoink "Baaack in myyyyy daaaaay..." lol. D1 release was a great time indeed. I don't play Destiny anymore, but WF is top tier. I love TFD, but it has powerhouse competition. Best case for looter shooter junkies is probably run them on a merry-go-round. Once you hit burnout or get "caught up" in each game, move to the next and wait for updates on the others.

There's a lot more to do in first descendant though vs anthems baren nothing
IN my opinion i think its a bit too early to judge TFD as this is literally pre-season. What drew me to Destiny was the companies. Me as a kid seeing "Activision and Bungie" as devs after playing both halo and being a cod vet "then" I was hooked. Destiny will always hold a special place in my heart but that is now in the past. Warframe had a horrible start but grew into what it is. Idk in my opinion I love the game and I can't wait to see the future. Devs actually listen here so I'm here for it.
Funny enough that's how I felt about Destiny how you explained TFD in the beginning still liked it for the time I played, just like Warframe, It's better to enjoy live service games here and their and not burn out on it, TFD is still new and enjoyable for now
yep, the story (-missions) are not great.., but those aside, your other negatives are points, are ones every game of the genre has to struggle with..

that said, the controls, the action & grappling, the area structure / surfacts, grind diversity, the class diversity, the skin (incl
male characters) diversity, etc. etc. are all fine..

every spot I grind feels different.., and when you switch classes, they than feel very different .

the combat, flow, areas structures etc. are all so good, even Metroid Prime 4 will have to step up, to keep up
lul, you just spend an absurd amount of money on a fotm game and cant admit that you wasted it all on skins XD
keep coping, the UE5-Assetflip wont improve because player will get scammed by the publisher......not the first time it happens XD

its worth & fun grinding for the characters.., paying a few bucks for some skins is supporting the game is fine.., other games are way predatory

Ya I also noticed the male characters have no personality to them unlike the female characters (except Chad Ajax).
I tried it, put 2 hours in and dropped it. felt very soulless but i recently put 40 hours into it. With just shy of 1k hours on warframe i really get this feeling of, "why am i not just playing that." Idk like its ... not terrible but its not really all that captivating, its just this min-max simulator that feels more like a means of tapping an addiction than anything.
The missions are so trash it’s the same ones everytime in each map
One thing I hate is that the game forces you to build other characters to do the void fragments. Sucks when you only have 10 slots 😒

@@Dennis-DK2 Yea man I hate to admit it but less than a year ago all I had to worry about was school. Now I’ve got a lot on my plate and shit just ain’t the same, makes me value my time on these games a lot more so I feel a little more critical.
Rightfully so. I noticed from the first trailer how generic is looked. The explosions don't interact with the characters or environment in any way there's absolutely no immersion into the world. I need those "damn this is awesome" moments or it's not worth my time. Helldiver's 2, Everspace 2 have got me hooked.@@AdoinkAdoink
It just doesn't have that secret sauce in it, at least not yet.
I think the biggest problem is the lack of true endgame content. Like, I'm grinding Ult Gley for.....what? Speedruns? Soloing default missions? In destiny, I grind for the raid, or I grind for trials. Right now, there isn't anything like that. I know a mega dungeon is planned, but a December release is not it. Also, microtransactions ruin the grind. So many have Ult Bunny because they bought it. For me, who grinded it out, it's nice to have, but not special.
@@conro6918 This is a big one too, it doesn’t feel like there’s a reason to farm anything or run it more than once.
I grinded f2p ult bunny and ult gley but found myself bored and drained out after, the story isn't good and even though the intial grind was fun, get your character strong enough for boss fights and once u can do them all there is no reason to play the game

I think they should remove the balls completely.... it's just there to prolong the inevitable ...

It isn’t terrible once you have ult bunny
the tru depth of the game unfolds later,.. not when rushing through it for the 1st time, but when you experience the levels on hard mode.., trying to solo some of them, or using fresh classes.., thats when you see how well the game is actually designed

farming & grinding.., that's part of the main gameplay loot of such games.. , but TFD did a good job, of making the farm areas / structures diverse.., no farm arrea feels the same (especially when using different characters..), the "core" gameplay is great (each void reactor feels different, when farming them.., setting / area, things look out for, etc...)
That's not depth, that's just more grinding.
Yet the true LACK of depth also shows itself the moment you get 100+ hours into endgame. In fact there IS NO ENDGAME. There is not a single mission or boss in the entire game or objective that requires actual endgame grinding to participate in.

there's plenty to grind for in the endgame, .. and plenty of areas, missions, bosses, over-world objectives etc. to grind in
Warframe monetization is way better... took me like 2h to farm 400 platinum to buy the ember Heirloom collection which costs 25€ (brrr 100€ ult bunny lol)....farming primes takes way less time and if your'e unlucky you can just sell the stuff u got and buy the parts from other players...

THE KINGS OF REHASH (10 year vet btw) this game is a fresh take and fresh break from the same thing we’ve gotten in return in Destiny.
I’m enjoying it , not simping over characters cause of how they look but the amount of ppl I played with , met and grinded with … takes the cake for me .

Easy play what you want bro you dont need if you dont like it i do enjoy the grind for the sake of it and the descendents grind keeps me busy and is easy enaugh after work to relax then playing crucible pvp or warframe i think that system is complicated ,and cant complicate to learn all and even try to catch up in those other games destiny is pay by patch warframe to much to catch up this is fresh and has enaugh to do to keep ppl engage
i would like to give this game a month before I put times n money in it, if they got the direction of being less greedy and have better game, I will purchase the freaking ultimate booty....
Warframe was basically 10 tile sets on release. Give the devs time if it stays this way for another year I’ll agree..
lets be honest though... Warframe had the same issue until The Second Dream. Prior to the second dream the story... didnt really exist. and the levels were kinda meh. Now when it comes ot mission variety there was alot there. Now one thing i do like with this vs waframe is that due to warframes age it is... kinda bloated. DE has a really bad habit of creating some new system because it seemed cool at the time, half baking it, then just kinda dropping it and that makes the game INCREDIBLY unfriendly for new players sadly.

Maybe i just have too many hours in destiny; but when we talk about monotony, it's the poster child. Sure, they have good story (most of the time, but we cannot ignore all their bad years), but the rest is just a very drawn out repetitive grind in a different color as well. And as much as I want to love Destiny still, it's gone so far downhill that I cant. I think mission wise, the only difference between warframe and TFD is only the length of time. BUT it really is nice to have very short loops when trying to farm or grind for specific items. I also barely knew warframe had a story up until duviri paradox; barring release frames as some are kind of cool.
When it comes to character deisgn, i agree for the most part. The women have more design for sure and it definitely is a fan service to get people in the door. It does, however, make some sense based on their lore/background. Where the guys are basically a bunch of army dudes (i know). Freyna is a merc, Valby cant be outside of her suit and maintain solid form, Gley is a scientist, non ult Viessa is more army ish, Sharon is a spec op, and bunny.... is just a fan service. is it on purpose though? definitely and it fits. although you did leave Yujin and Kyle out so i cant fully accept the criticism.
Colossi, i think at launch, have just enough diversity to hold over until the 7/31 update when they'll be releasing another one. Yeah it can get a bit old, but im also glad when im trying to farm and can easily get through them. I do want more out of it though. But I'm also scared to say that because, respectfully, i see a lot of people struggling to beat them as is before we even introduced hanged man's ONE mechanic. Like its actually infuriating how low the average skill level is in this game. I would honestly love raids at some point, but that pool of people who can actually do it feels like it will be so low.
All in all, i feel like this is the common critique, and hopefully there is more to come for sure. But equally, i feel that's what makes the game what it is. Not having to spend 2 hours doing a D2 raid once a week for 6 months to not get the exotic, farming duriel in D4 and the mats for 10k total runs to not get the uber, and warframe is just a longer mission timer vs the few minutes it takes to clear a farm in TFD. It has its pros and cons, but i think it's done well enough that its still enjoyable
the biggest problem this game has is the balancing, if you have a rlly good bunny or gley build theres 0 reason to play anyone else. the fact bunny is supposed to be a farming aoe character but can also do everything else just as well kinda makes everyone else super bad in comparison
I miss the Valby farm 😢
I mean it's still there. It's only nerfed by like 30% or something. Apparently not to the level of the original plan which was going to be nerfed more.

I feel this, i have alot of hours in destiny like over 9000 just to make a joke and i just platinumed first descendant but i fell this there isnt much going on to do and i honestly want to try warframe now more because of this game, warframe came along way in this time its had and TFD has a strong foundation, i just hope this isnt a cash grab tbh
the areas, levels & structures are diverse enough.., when you start to farm in different areas, you start to appreciate the zone structures
They did this so you have a reason to purchase the colors lol it's marketing

The games been out for a month warframe was a complete mess when it first came out i played warframe back when they tried to charge real money to run missions this game launch 100 times better then warframe and will only get better especially if givin 10 plus years like warframe had
Oh shit, you're right the about male characters. I get not including Kyle to make your point, but it still holds. I never thought much of it but the dudes really are all dripped in brown, and I kinda hate it. Also I can't even disagree with the story not being boring when I spent most of the campaign listening to about 3 words from the VA, speed-reading the subtitle, then pressing space bar. I was a little invested towards the end, but quality of story aside, the lack of input from the character you're playing as during the moments when big things are happening is what irked me. They talk so much during gameplay and when they're NPCs on missions, but absolutely nothing during the big story beats. This game has soooo much voicelines but didn't have them in the most important parts.
@@Hibernape yea Kyle felt like an outlier in the lineup, but in a game where playing all these characters is so integral, it sucks that the males are all so bland. They made it clear that they aren’t the selling point lol
Destiny ruined it for me cause I ain't paying a full price game every dlc.

better than warframe killed me.. we dont spend 3 hrs farming forma . we spend 30 secs farming forma...3 hrs+ 8 hrs crafting timer.. i dont really see them doing anything better than warframe..system wise . i have to day they both have sht farm for base frame /descendant.. its actually much faster to farm ultimate lepic vs normal lepic 🤡
@@MO-nj7tj you’re definitely right, I just meant the actual craft times felt better for characters, but yea when you factor in all the farming it’s definitely worse than WF
