Yep. With Fortiche doing a little bit of digital matte painting in the style of Renaissance-era Parisian oil paintings(That iconic ending of Episode 3 should look familiar if you`ve ever looked at a certain Alexandre Cabernel painting).
From an animation perspective, they would take motion capture and use it as a reference or basis to animate on top of. There is a lot of work and artistry that animators have to do to take motion capture data from real life and make something that people actually like and not become uncanny or stiff which is usually the case if you take mo-cap data and put it onto a 3d model.
The difference in power and speed between Vi's and Jinx's punches made me think "Wow, these fuckers made CGI feel as fluid as the best hand drawn animation out there???". This shit is gonna be so good.

first time I heard JID was on enemy. his part was absolutely insane so I listened to everything he had on spotify. I actually listened to scatter brain non stop until I knew his part word for word. what an incredible talent. his flow is really something else.
Aight, Im here to lay out the lore and shit. Assuming you don't play league of legends, or are in any way interested in the characters, I'll do a short summary of it then go deeper in after. Basically, Arcane is a netflix series that is being made by Riot Games in conjunction with Netflix and animated primarily by Fortiche Productions, who also did this music video. Enemy is song that is part of the soundtrack of Arcane, created for the series, and features snippets of the actual show's animation with some stuff animated specifically for the video. This is all animated in the style of the show using mo-cap and hand animation (which is why J.I.D looks so good, and even his hair moves realistically, he was likely mo-capped doing these movements and then it was replayed over and over by the animators so they got it exactly right.), which features three well known characters from the game at various ages of their life prior to their current status. The characters are as follows, with a short snippet of info about them, but the show itself will feature more of the characters from league. Jinx, The Loose Cannon The blue haired girl from the video, and the main character of arcane. Essentially, Jinx was raised to hate the authority of Piltover, the city above Zaun, where they live. (Essentially Piltover and Zaun are a giant cylinder, with Piltover literally above Zaun, while Zaun stretches downwards underground. Piltover naturally lives high society, while Zaun lives in poverty. But piltover enforces the laws into Zaun as well. Little complicated.) Her story through arcane will be her growing up, and eventually becoming insane due to drugs and abuse, as well as betrayal from Vi. We don't know how this happens, all we know is that it will happen, as jinx does eventually go insane and become an extremely dangerous psychotic terrorist. Her story however takes place over 4 parts as far as we know. Childhood, pre-teenage years, teenage years, and post drug exposure. Teenage years and Post Drug exposure are likely the most important parts of her story, and both have a powerful change in character for her as a whole between the previous points. As a child Jinx was happy, as a pre-teen jinx was rebellious but wide eyed with a strained relationship with vi but still remaining as a loving sister, but as a teenager this all changes. Jinx has to put her happy life behind her as a teenager and become independent. She becomes a strong person with psychotic tendencies, but is nowhere near as insane as she is present day in the game post-drug exposure. We can visualize the change with her eye color change, as pre-drug her eyes are blue, but they turn pink after she's exposed to it. (I say exposed because it's unknown if it's willing or unwilling yet, only time will tell. All we know is that it enhances her violent tendencies and turns her into the psychopath she is today.) Vi, The Piltover Enforcer The pink haired girl from the video, and Jinx's sister. Vi grew up protecting Jinx as best she could, learning to fight and teaching her that the authority was terrible. Before eventually joining them. Vi joined up with Caitlyn, piltover's sheriff, and essentially became something worse than a cop. She betrayed jinx's trust, which was already waning due to their repeated fights, which put a major strain on Jinx's psyche and turned her into what she is today. Ekko, The Boy Who Shattered Time The white haired black kid from the video, Jinx's best friend. Ekko's story is one I won't get into, as it takes place after arcane is over (potentially) and has little bearing over the stuff we see in this video. But essentially he grew up alongside Jinx and Vi, joined their gang, trained with them, and was generally their friend. He had a crush on Jinx for a lot of her life until eventually she went nuts. At that point he couldnt stick around, and became the character we players know today, the boy who can turn back time. The First Half Arcane heavily features Jinx's descent into madness, that much is certain. That's essentially what this video is about. It's Jinx as a pre-teen reminiscing about her childhood friendship and her trauma. The Piltover enforcers attacking her and her sister, running from the cops, the betrayal of a friend of theirs and her eventual sister's betrayal (though this is not featured in the video) but also the good times of learning to fight from Vi, and flipping off said enforcers with Ekko, as well as generally goofing off. We see her slowly begin to believe that she's surrounded by people that hate her and are her "Enemy". The greater plot of Arcane is yet to be known, so the reason for Jinx actually going insane is yet to be known, though people like Necrit, a league youtuber, believe it will have to do with a purple drug that the main villain is peddling. Also, the firefly coming out of her mouth is apparently going to be a plot point in the show, as we saw the fireflys in a previous trailer. Finally, after one final fight with Vi, we see Jinx break down and start to cry, which begins J.I.D's verse. J.I.D's Verse and Aftermath I like to think that J.I.D's verse is Jinx trying to rationalize inside her head, or to Ekko since he's featured so much in the cutaways during it. If you look at the lyrics for his part it really just screams jinx's story, at least to me. We can sorta see the defined change in Jinx's psyche right after J.I.D's verse, which is why I think that it's her rationalizing it all before succumbing to her own insanity. The lyric "Spare the sympathy" is her eventually breaking down and realizing that she can't rely on people. This unleashes the monster, which we see as adult jinx killing the attacking enforcers. This results in the person she is now, ending the song. This is further supported by the imagery we see of Jinx during the entirety of J.I.D's verse. The scrawled lines in the outline of J.I.D and Jinx's silhouette, as well as the overlaid projections that keep changing, and then the appearance we see of adult jinx during it, whom we hadn't seen at all up to that point except for brief snippets show that as time goes on she can't keep being the weak little girl. That means all of this is taking place within Jinx's head, and in the future, her personal view of herself and who she needs to become, while that darkness she has inside herself is slowly influencing her to become someone she may not consciously want to be, until eventually there's no going back. Directly after J.I.D's verse we see a lot of this, with Jinx as a kid punching at her own head, tearing at her clothes and struggling inside her own head as the silhouette behind her becomes jagged and violent, symbolizing the dangerous part of her mind trying to break free. Also, a small note is that Ekko is no longer present in this white space like he was during J.I.D's verse, potentially showing that Ekko's absence was also a big part of her breakdown. Psychology of Jinx Generally, we can see that pre-teen jinx is not happy about the person she is becoming, but after her change she realizes it was either necessary, or enjoyable. This we see by her ever-present smile after growing into a young adult. I think that this also has to do with the fact that adult jinx in this video symbolizes psycho jinx, or the psychotic part of her brain, while the pre-teen version symbolizes her stable version. And eventually, that stable version is overshadowed by the her adult self, not present at all, or completely inexpressive, like she's come to an understanding that this is what needs to be done. We see stable jinx struggling with this realization for a while, until eventually she becomes stone faced, falls back, and gives up, allowing her teenage part to take over and deal with her problems for her, symbolized by in my opinion, the most dramatic shot of the entire music video. That shot, is the Piltover enforcers encircling her and her younger version. Stable jinx allows her to deal with the problem, which is symbolized by her falling back in the next shot, before teenage jinx fires on them all, but not before all 3 versions of jinx express their remorse for their upcoming actions, and leaving stable jinx there, alone, with no expression. God I hope this show is good. I will lose all respect for Riot if it isn't.
LOL does do an excellent job of getting you invested in CERTAIN characters not that i blame them with a roster that big its hard to give everyone their due
Im already hyped about this stuff then i look to see if people as as hyped as me about it, then when they get hyped for it, it gets me even more hyped about it lol love the reaction ♥
The animation in this video, as well as the whole series was 100% hand animated. They definitely referenced JIDs movements for his performance, but Fortiche studios animated everything by hand for this series
So, love the song, love the animation, but what was most striking to me was that this is how you do a feature right. It is an imagine dragons song, for the verse and the chorus and then, when JID comes on, they recuce the instrumentation to a hip hop vibing drums and base at first, just a simple beat to build a stage for JID to style on. Then, for the finale of the verse, they get completely out the way, for JID to open up and right after that they go in for the intensified Chorus. What a brilliant way to include another artist. None of them comprompromised their style and of course the Lyrics are super dramatic. (Also I just noticed that the second time through in your reaction, but I believe the monkey falling off the bar is Jinx going over the edge, because that girl is crazy.)
I seriously can't read the words as quick as this young man does he is incredible the series Arcane is superb the animation is second to none I am so hooked to this series
That is Jinx! That is my favorite champ in league! Psycho girl with the gun my man. Arcane is a story following her and vi. The white haired kid might also be ekko too. ANother awesome champ. You might know him as the face of True Damage. The Giants song
Bullet points. 1. Arcane is the Netflix series you got to check out. 2. The blue hair girl is powder who turns into Jinx a main character in LoL. 3. The pink hair girl is her sister VI, short for Violet. If you don't play LoL you won't get a lot of the Arcane references but it's still an amazing story.
arcane is a new show that coming on Netflix soon, its about jinx and vi, 2 league champs that are also sisters, jinx is a psychotic criminal who loves to blow shit up, and vi is a cop that works with the sheriff to hunt down jinx, this is about there childhood and how they came to be what they are now.
Fortiche (the studio animating) did not do motion capture. Which is amazing when you see the intricacies of animation in the show. "Shorty has seen a lot." Oh man you have no idea.
Its crazy that this wasnt done with motion capture. Its hand animated. I agree thatthe movement in the series is out of this world. Imo Fortiche set a new standard for animation.
Arcane is the anime for League of Legends that comes out in November. It focuses on to champs that are sisters, Jinx and Vi. You've seen them in the other music videos. Jinx had an entire video blowing things up and going crazy, very Harley Quinn-ish. Vi was in the Warriors 2020 video as the one that was punching all of the bad guys, she works as a cop and her sister is a criminal
Arcane is an upcoming Netflix series based off of the 2 LoL champions Jinx (the blue haired girl, generally the main character) and Vi (pink haired girl who's Jinx's sister.

4:56 - "Our goal was to find a good balance between realism and 'cartoon' style. Since our characters have semi-realistic proportions, they have to move and behave in a realistic way with weight and solid body-mechanics. But to keep the appeal and avoid any uncanny valley effect, we also had to bring traditional animation techniques. That’s why we didn't do mocap [motion capture] but only keyframe animation that allows us to control our acting performance and aesthetic."

Arcane is an animated series set in the League of Legends universe its mainly about two sisters (the one with short pink hair , and the one with long blue hair, (Vi and Jinx)) , its set in a city that has two faces. above ground its the pinacle of engineering and science and wealth, but below ground its a gangtown with chaos everywhere. And in game , we always had these two characters almost from the start but didn't really knew who they are . We only knew that the one with blue hair is carrying three guns and is crazy like REALLY crazy and the other one can punch and has 13 differents voice lines that are dad jokes about punching. Thats it
The champions featured in this music video are jinx and Vi they are adopted sisters in the lore. Arcane is a Netflix animated series, that will be used to explain their story.

Jinx, The Loose Cannon
The blue haired girl from the video, and the main character of arcane.
All we know is that it enhances her violent tendencies and turns her into the psychopath she is today.)
Vi, The Piltover Enforcer
The pink haired girl from the video, and Jinx's sister.
Ekko, The Boy Who Shattered Time
The white haired black kid from the video, Jinx's best friend.
The First Half
Arcane heavily features Jinx's descent into madness, that much is certain.
J.I.D's Verse and Aftermath
I like to think that J.I.D's verse is Jinx trying to rationalize inside her head, or to Ekko since he's featured so much in the cutaways during it.
Psychology of Jinx
Generally, we can see that pre-teen jinx is not happy about the person she is becoming, but after her change she realizes it was either necessary, or enjoyable.
I will lose all respect for Riot if it isn't.
i have good new for you, also interesting read
Pausing on the exact 1 frame where adult Jinx is in the beginning was magical
bro this show is so good and the intro song makes me wait the 2 min intro thats how good it is
Yes JID is back baby
People had the audacity to say JID made the song worse😐
As someone fresh off Arcane, it was amazing, definitely worth the watch.
The graphics designers and animators are actually super talented to make cartoon almost look real.
Song was uploaded 6h ago. This man is on his shit. Gotta respect the grind 💯 💪
LOL does do an excellent job of getting you invested in CERTAIN characters not that i blame them with a roster that big its hard to give everyone their due
and these certain characters are the ones with the most skins XD
My guy. Good to see a legit JID fan
Im already hyped about this stuff then i look to see if people as as hyped as me about it, then when they get hyped for it, it gets me even more hyped about it lol love the reaction ♥
Arcane is the New animated League show they are coming out with focusing on Jinx and Vi's early life before the games!
The tupac impression is too good 😂
You need to watch and react to Arcane. And dont worry about Copyright, Arcane are loving the attention right now.
Just found you through this video, love your personality and your passion for rap/music/animation. Great video
This guy is so conflicted with an banger of a song, and visuals that are too real.
And its golden!
The animation in this video, as well as the whole series was 100% hand animated. They definitely referenced JIDs movements for his performance, but Fortiche studios animated everything by hand for this series
Would love to see you react to the rest of the Arcane soundtrack.
His reactions are pure gold, no even better, diamond... what's better than diamonds?
Sick reaction dude! Really like how you look at both the music and the actual video animation!
4:00 "omg, chill with that"
*wents back and plays it to see it again*
Arcane is a story between Jinx and Vi and their relationship. And it's definitely worth a watch
i was searching for a reaction like this, like mine, jid is a new great discoverment, hes doooope!!!!
That is Jinx! That is my favorite champ in league! Psycho girl with the gun my man. Arcane is a story following her and vi. The white haired kid might also be ekko too. ANother awesome champ. You might know him as the face of True Damage. The Giants song
Best reaction when JID wraps up. ;)
YAs!!!!! Now this is what I was waiting for.
Ive been watching people react to Arcane vids to still my shimmer addiction. Thanks for helping
Fortiche (the studio animating) did not do motion capture. Which is amazing when you see the intricacies of animation in the show.
"Shorty has seen a lot."
Oh man you have no idea.
Its actually surreal watching a game you've played and enjoyed for a long time become a movie with a linear story. You can never play the game the same way again. Never ever.
its nice to see reactions were people know the terminology of things, subed
8:13 He literally died hearing him rap 🤣
Arcane’s an animated series coming out on netflix in the next week or so. It’s set in the LOL universe, and covers the story of two famous champions. If you like anime and stuff like that, then you might enjoy it.
Wasnt expecting this, but I was somewhat waiting for it? YES
Arcane is a series coming to netflix on the 6th of november 2021 the character with blue hair was Jinx the red/pink hair one is Vi and the dude with the white hair is Ekko this are 3 champions in League of Legends
Arcane is a Netflix series. You have seen Jinx before and that's the blue haired girl. It follows her and her sister Vi, the pink haired one you've seen with the big metal fists.
i like how the JID huh at 5:30 actually makes the song better even though all it was was a huh
Arcane has probably my favorite soundtrack.
Thats it
JID literally WENT OFF
Scru should watch the series
I would love to see you react to the netflix Arcane series!!! it's an amazing story and lore, I think you'd like it a ton
Happy Halloween to everyone and Happy Birthday to J.I.D!!! Us Halloween babies are the coldest...
I got those chills from J.I.D!!
The moment I saw the music vid up, I KNEW SCRU BOUTTA GO CRAZY ON A REMIX FR
The champions featured in this music video are jinx and Vi they are adopted sisters in the lore. Arcane is a Netflix animated series, that will be used to explain their story.
This made me play league and made me realize again how much I hate this addicting game where I always lose
Btw at 5:08 that's Ekko when he was still kid.
