I like to use Kellogg’s (Patio plus I believe. Haven’t had it in stock for awhile), coarse perlite/pumice, homemade compost (or store bought) and vermiculite. Works well for my lemongrass, the most successful plant in my garden. I’m no expert in dragonfruit though, my last two died from rot because I underwatered it. Luckily I saved cuttings from the fastest grower and they are growing new branches!
If i didnt buy the pre-made potting mix what would be your suggestion for me making it up from scratch? I live in Australia have perlite coir bark on hand.
I live in South Florida and can't find the fox farm potting soil. I pre-purchased miracle gro cactus, citrus, and succulent potting mix before realizing it wasn't the best. Is it possible to amend the soil for my dragon fruit plants? If so, how?
Good morning, I been watching your video for quite some time, am sucribe now, and I have a question for you hopefully you can help me, I have a dragon fruit that is about 5 years old, this is the second year that Blum's but must of the fruit either falls off or it gets mushy, soft completely. Last year out of like 15 fruits only one made it, medium size, but very sweet. This year the plant has about 12 flowers, some are drying off very small and die, and one of them nice size already got mushy, soft and die, do tou know why this is happening by any chance and how I can fix my plant. Thank you in advance, much appreciated.
Hi Richard, I just join your facebook , but I have been watching your video for 2 years already. Can you tell me where can I buy the General Hydroponic Grow and GH bloom? How can I sign up to get the cutting? Please advise.
I have a bag of miracle grow cactus and succulent potting mix. How can I make it work for my dragon fruits? Whatvshould i add to it and at whatvratio please? I know its prob not the best but since its what i have rn id like to use it. Tks
Right now my friend give me 1 kind Vietnam white only and I really want to buy all your 13 varieties branches so do you cut it and sales or do you know where I can go and buy some to grew on my back yard like your I really like your video it all very clear
Hi Junne L. Her, I will have cuttings of most of my varieties in the month of November. That is when I start to prune my dragonfruits and will have some cuttings available for you to buy. You can check with me again at that time I will have them available. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support!
Where can the foxfarm be picked up in SoCal are, I'm in San Bernadino County. I have searched all over and places that sell for decent price are shipping for over $100 by pallet. Ace used to carry but seems they dropped it, Home Depot charges $30+ for it 1.5 cu ft. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks for your valuable information. I have normal soil, horn/bone powder, mastard cake, sand, SOP, neem cake, etc. Can you suggest me how to make soil for planting Dragon in pot?
In the winter time I water once a week. And in the spring-summer time I water 2 times sometimes even 3 times a week if it gets really hot. You can tell when they need water if you put your finger 1 inch into the soil and it’s loose and dry. They like the soil moist. Dragonfruits are tropical cactus unlike their cousins the desert cactus require less water.
I have used fox farms before and found it degrades and is not good after about 6-8 months. Can cause root rot. Have you thought about using a more permanent soil that won't degrade and compact down over time? Much more air to the roots also. I like Gary's Top Pot, it is great! ua-cam.com/video/uhRAQTYHAeg/v-deo.html Let me know what you think.
*911 what’s your emergency?* Umm my dragonfruit plant isn’t producing Edit: I assume you mean repot. From what I have heard a dragonfruit plant will happily live its entire life in at least a 10-15 gallon pot There is a vid on doing that on this channel too ua-cam.com/video/QFeeQ8wRJ_s/v-deo.html
Short, sweet and to the point! THANK YOU!!!
I love Fox Farm Ocean forest, they are the best, I am using them for my figs, I don't have to worrying about soil when I plant DF.

I sure will! 👍🏼
@@GraftingDragonFruit I am interested also. What’s the best way to contact you ?
So there is no need to insert sand and small stones or rocks into the substrate? Can you stick a good organic soil?
Home Depot has a soil called black magic... Do you know if it is compatible with fox farm soil?... Thanks in advance for your answer

Can you suggest me how to make soil for planting Dragon in pot?
In my country (Bangladesh), ready to use soil is not quality soil. So I need your suggestion.
2 times / year to fertilize. Can you tell when , which month, please? Like your video. Thanks.
Do you ever change the soil, if so every how many years?
Have you ever thought about using a notill organic living soil mix for dragon fruits?
I’m doing that experiment now
What do you do when you add new fertilizer to your pots? Do you dump some of the soil out to make room for the new fertilizer?
Hi Sam, I just add more soil on top. Its usually gets compact and low by the time I need to refertilize in 6 months. 1 inch is all I add to the top.
@@GraftingDragonFruitI now you mention 6 months apart, but when exactly do you do it I live also in southern California thanks Richard
sadly the fox farm soil is about 32$ a bag here in canada
Does it really have worms in the soil?
Muito bom amigo
Where do you get this for under $20 buck every I see it’s in the $30+ range?
I just bought some Ocean Forest yesterday at a hydrophobic store in San Bernardino for $9.99 per bag 1.5 cft
@@dragonfruitworld what is the store called? i live in san bernardino
Hello can i use a loam soil in dragon fruit?
You can use any soil that has well drainage to prevent flooding of the roots.
Thank You Ricahard
thank you , but do you have the ratio ?
how do you know when to water

Can you use sand as potting soil?
have you tried it yet?
