Hayley! i got my first job as a driver, been offered a contract today! yay!!! Airfreight from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport! Thanks for the motivation to get it!
honestly I really dont like when companies try to pass blame for things like this. A haulage company cannot operate on the premise that no damage will ever be done, and that *most* drivers would never deliberately damages their trucks. accidents will always happen and there should be a repair budget in place for this. Thankfully my company has never went down this route and will always repair the truck when required.
I agree with this. This is what insurance is for and upto the company if they want to use insurance. If it was carelessness then that's what disciplinary procedures. Just my views. However, as said in video, it's not Hayleys fault or anyone's fault in that case, just one of them things. And maybe they should do something about the curtai ratchets so it won't happen to the next person, not just wait for it to happen again
from one arctic driver to another (30 years on the US roads ) ..... braid your airlines and power cable together, then they are less likely to droop down in the way of things ..... good luck driving ......... :)
Whooop whoooop I get another mention 🤪🤪. I should start charging for my advice 😂😂😂
You're famous mate 😂
I guess British trucks don't have "pogo sticks" on the back to keep the air and electric lines in the clear.
My Volvo VN had a handle on the upper back of the sleeper to bungee the lines to.
Nice one Hayley. This industry it’s hard when your new. You learn when it’s going wrong. Then you get told the tips or how to do it or what you should avoid.
Shalom
Bay day with the air compressor.
Hi Hayley, I'm on a curtain sider this week and doing bay deliveries so 2 new challenges together. I have to wear glasses for driving too and try and remember to leave them in the cab in wet weather or I end up with spots in front my eyes 😂 have a good week
Never worked at a company that charge you for damages, that's ridiculous
Hi Hayley, My class 1 licence is on the way back to me after 22 years with the DLVA, (Insulin Junky!). I’ve just taken a quick peep at your excellent channel to see what’s changed while I was away.
Sat nav, telemetry, automatic gears, digital Tachos, drivers cpc, working time directive alongside drivers hours, dash cams, blind spot mirrors, electric windows on the drivers side, ad blue and of course UA-cam! Anything you think I may have missed, crumbs sounds like I was driving The Flintstones car!
Hmmm 🤔. Yes, you missed the recent change to the Highway Code giving cyclists and pedestrians more priority 🤪
My first day as an hgv1 driver in england in 2005 i was given a brand new daf xf 530! There was still plastic wrapping on the tractors bed!! Your vlog and your accent reminds me my happy days in my beloved midlands!! Passes my class 1 in swynneton!! Regards from greece! You have int audience too!! Drive safely! Respect!
Wow, imagine that! Brand new! Glad it brought back some nice memories for you. All the best to you across the ocean. Take care 😁
Biker couple here, from North East England, love the idea of you doing a Bike Related Vid/s

Lucky with compressed air.
I agree with the others. you should not be expected to pay for repairs to the truck. Where do they draw the line, new tyre if you get a puncture, new trailer curtain if its damaged!
Hayley, it was nice to see you driving around cheadle heath, i live in that area. The airline thing annoyed me, we know you take care, and things do happen. Thanks again for another great video.
Interesting video Hayley as usual xx as you said it wasn't a deliberate or careless action that caused the hose failure but an accident ( an unforeseen event ) more over a design fault xx Good to see your smiling face again Stay safe and healthy xx
I tell you what. You are a true pro! Honestly you have got my total respect.
Near the end you said the MAN had an air leak, yet it"s just come back off inspection..defect it.
Suzzies deteriorate over time due to exposure to sun and heat.
Many companies have two spare airlines on the lorry, red and yellow or one black plus two large adjustable spanners to enable you to change them if they snap.
I have had them go on a motorway at 56mph..luckily a service line. The red would just have locked the trailer brakes up.
Great video thanks for posting.
Hayley ideally. Even though I stretched my airline by screwing it. You should disconnect them and then use the black shunt brake on trailer then you can jackknife it and not snap cables
Thanks 👍 again Hayley for posting your videos and stay safe out on the road this week.
I saw a Ks wagon on the Wolverhampton rd the other day
Great reg for your bike at 16 minutes on the red van 😂 good bikes MT09’s I had one in 2018
I love it, it's a great bike 😊
Great video Hayley, good to see you working the wheel 👍
Camera/cameras working well, proper Monday yawn after a nice ride out.
Thanks for sharing and stay safe all.
Tara a bit.
Thanks for sharing your story Hayley.
Hi can you make a video of the most common mistakes make in LGV Class 1. And how to improve it. Thank you
Like in Practical
Hi great video really clear bit harsh with the you pay for damages especially if it not intentional, accident happen you can’t see if the air line hook up on the corners or anything else the company I drive for don’t charge us for things like that when I take the lst trailers to certain deliveries we drive in and turn round you defo have to watch the lines if it a tight turn I’ll stop half way round and check as sometimes they get caught on the corners and they are only half stretched and I can just knock them off to save any damage if it ever happens to you again and you are empty disconnect the air lines and push the brake and shunt buttons together and this make the trailer free wheel and you can get it moved or take back to the yard I drive a daf cf 440 and the dash loves to sing to you so I know the tunes of by heart 😂 think the new fleet there getting are man / merc so would be nice to get higher up great video take care stay safe xx
Hayley, there's an old American Country Song from 1968 by Tammy Wynette that fits you in this instance... "Stand by Your Man" LOL, it's perfect!!! Though I guess it should actually be "Stand by Your MAN"... LOL! I'm partial to Yamaha as that's what I've always had so, congrats to both of you!
I have had 5 new cars in the last 11 years and they all had Tom Tom which is rubbish. I have my own Garmin which has NEVER let me down. I cannot praise Garmin enough.
I hope you're all keeping well Hayley
Thanks, you too Wayne 😊
I'm doing fine thanks Hayley keep up the superb vloggs Hayley and take good care of yourselves won't you
I had the same thing with my TomTom losing gps signal. Had it in the same place as usual in the middle of the window then for weeks it was playing up. Moved it next to the pillar and not had a problem since.
Weird aren't they??
Wait till someone decides to pull your pin then all of the suzzies break off and you have 20 ton on the landing legs too wind backup now have padlock as well as dog cilp fifewheel
It always seems to me that the seating position in all the CF's is set way too low in the cab, never mind the overall cab height being lower. The policy there with drivers paying for damage like that is not reasonable and I can not agree with it. If the company wishes to claim back the expense of driver damages then it should be looked at as a case by case basis where you can usually tell the difference between accidental damage and damage caused by reckless behaviour. The last time I had accidental damage was when I completely smashed the light bar beacons on the roof on a branch when trying to get out of a gateway. After picking up the bits I called the boss who told me not to worry about it as shit happens. It had a new light bar fitted overnight and it was never mentioned again. I was looking hard to see if I was anywhere about as we've had two jobs in that area where your second drop was so we've been running through there for five days. Loved the video all the best.
NIce vid H. Stay safe n well.
Really good video Hayley keep up the good work 🚚
Hi Hayley. Thanks for your videos and insight into being a HGV driver. I have my class 1 test in the morning after a week of lessons and passing the 3a. Feeling a bit apprehensive at the moment!
I passed!!!!!👍
So pleased to hear it!!! Congratulations on the pass 🎉🎉🎉😁
Love the video Hayley you're doing a great job and like i said before you are enjoying your work keep going girl x
Hi goo d video When am at home l download videos so when waiting got some thing to watch and not need the internet to watch them. A bit hard of them on the air lines keep safe
Thank you!
Awesome vlog as always hayley really enjoy them
well don keep on trucking👍👍
Good morning Hayley
I love yours videos
Thank you 😊
Outrageous policy.
I know you said lorry park full . Coach parking is for reason many hgv drives block this parking . Coaches have the same break neads plus passenger safety too think of school children elderly etc if you use those bays dont moan if you are boxed in .
I wasn't actually in a coach parking bay, I was parked in the coach area but not in any of the bays (which were empty) 👍🏻
Hey Hayley won't you and your partner think about purchasing a motor home so that you could enjoy some time away from work and away from home
Together this would allow you to do some beautiful locations
Like Helmsley Thornton le dale
Kingston upon Hull and Beverley and York
Would you ever think about purchasing one full time then you could do some very kind blogs
First of your videos ive watched . Will b lkn for more well done your doing great job .👍
Thanks very much 😊
Hi Hayley it’s Nessa. You same to have taken to class 1 like a duck to water. I can see why you were wound up about the air line situation. That was ridiculous of them to say you were being charged without even asking you what happens first. It makes me wonder how many drivers have been charged for things out of their control!
If you are asked to pay for something which your employer accuses you of damaging, insist that they give you the damaged item. Then inspect it for signs of fraying elsewhere. Which would suggest that it was already well worn before you took the vehicle. The fact that there was nowhere to tie the air line suggests a possible design fault.
I am currently swotting for the theory test; did you say that 2 lines were the same colour? I thought that they should be different. That suggests that a line has failed before, and they had to replace it with what they had in - if yours was the older of the 2, that would be a sign that it's wear and tear, not mistreatment.
When you say that you want the damaged item, it's possible that they might back down, as they will most likely know that you intend challenging them.
Hayley you have picked up a lovely bike 🏍,please vlog, just cover Speedo 👍.
Thank you, I love it 🥰
Nice video like always
I'd like to voice my opinion Hayley you should say in future when your judged in court by a judge of curless driving you will pay up :-) also if summit happens and trucks written off do you hve to pay for the truck trailer and load because they have insurance and that being comprehensive should cover it
Great video
What's the camera you have for the mirror view? Love these vlogs by the way, passed my Class 2 three weeks ago and am thinking about vlogging my journey
Goodness Sake Hayley!!!!!
This sounds ridiculous. There’s many companies that lookafter you during your day to day trials and tribulations.
Id be looking elsewhere. You’re a considerate person….please seek out and get a proper job.
We’ve several drivers that’s caused thousands of pounds worth of damage…most repeatable companies are self insured …
It’s guaranteed “ accident’s happen” you can’t be coming to work stressed about punctures, light cluster damage, fuel cap losses scratches, nicks and bumps……!!!
Ps, thanks for flashing me in on the M6 before Stafford services last week…..😊.
Bless you Hayley I stretched an airline lol
Teach it
Better off with the MT than all that Honda malarkey.
I liked the Hondas they just weren't comfy. The MT is a beast 🥰
have you had it flashed yet?
If I was you I would defect the trailer 👍as a petrol tanker driver we don’t take out a defected trailer then you can’t get blamed for any damage 😀👍
Accidents will happen
i know one or two drivers that work at on braod
hello friend one question can you help me please
how much money can be made truck owner europe per month and week 🙏
Hiya Hayley. Having heard just now about Readly, I've just gotta check it out sometime presently. Especially for a friend, I've just gotta. I've done this before, looking up old & retro magazine contents via other websites as well. How far back so the various back issues in all categories go, by the way?
Until around 2014 on the magazines I've checked 👍🏻
Hi. In my area l see keep safe
We are thinking of visiting the Backcountry Living Museum in the summer on bikes from Devon , Is that any good ?
Yes, it's really good if you like history. They call it "living" because they have characters there that tell you about how they live etc. It's always good as well if you can get in when they do special events. Enjoy if you do come up here😊
@@TruckDriverHayley Thanks H x
Charged for damage - times have changed. Dear me…
Sorry Hayley but we are going to have to charge you for the air leak, and we have calculated that you have also wasted 20,000 cubic feet of air so we we will also have to charge you for that.
U'll probably be charged for the air leak aswell hayley!!!🤣😂
😂
Hi hayley can you say if you ever use poa ? only if you can k ;)
No, I never use POA 😊
do you ever deliver to Chippenham in Wiltshire?
Yes, but not very often 😊
Whereabouts in Chippenham Wiltshire do you deliver?
Melksham
Hayley, can I ask, what exactly does your contract say regarding damage. Is it referring to any damage or just meaning airlines and suzies
Any damage due to carelessness, wrecklessness or neglect
@@TruckDriverHayley well obviously you should never have to pay then as you have no intentions of either of them
MAN, MAN, MAN ... ;)
👍
Hi, taking my class ce at the end of this month. Any tips for someone like me going basically car to ce?
If you haven't already done it by now, take your time and try to imagine as if your instructor was there and not the examiner. Good luck 😁
@@TruckDriverHayley Thanks Hayley. I passed first time last week. Now the hard part finding a CE job.
Nothing wrong with de de de,de de de Dafs.....I had 5 yellows and a red this morning 😵💫.....fixed with a click of Dafaids laptop thingy...isn't technology wonderful 🤨
