For multiplayer combat, don't know how important it is for immersion purposes or what have you, but you can also have someone initiate combat one at a time for ranged pre-emptive strikes, and then follow suit with the other party members out of combat, since their initiative hasn't been rolled yet. It can potentially shave down a few enemies before the fight is in full swing depending on turn order from the first initiative roll from party member one, and maybe make a fight easier to handle as you bring each member into initiative rolls one at a time, as opposed to all jumping in at once.

I will be playing next weekend with 3 friends on PS5. Should we play with 4 created characters or 4 origin characters? I heard origin characters get special story and items?
I've been invited to play by 2 different parties (at different scheduled times), Is it possible to do this or do I need to get a 2nd copy of the game to do it?
Hey. Thanks for the video. Sorry if I missed this but if I play with one friend do we each control one of the NPC characters? So basically each play 2 characters?
question, in divinity original sin 2 you could do coop and online at the same time. can you do this in BG3? and what i mean is 2 players on one PS5/PC and another 2 playing on PS5/PC all together. so two copies of the game but 4 players online

does it matter who hosts a co-op campaign? are there any benefits to being host? will npc's affinity only be focused on the host, or can a npc like one play and despise the other? I basically just want to know if control and interaction with the world/characters/story is equally shared amongst all players.
Yeah each player makes their own decisions and although some things could affect everyone in some way because it could change the course of the story for all, the affinity is just for the person who did the thing if that makes sense
is there any way to use my current character from my own playthrough in a multiplayer world with my friends? or do i have a make a new character from scratch? i cant just use my current character? the whole thing seems super confusing if i want to make a copy of my current character (just race/ class/ looks wise) i have to literally just build the character again? spent an hour on this already just the other day when i got the game myself is there a con to playing online co op, is the story butchered slightly without the npcs and their side quests/ lore?
If I'm playing with one friend, is there any way for us both to create 2 custom characters each? Or do we have to create 1 and choose one of the existing ones?
So, explain to me please if I play with a friend can we both make our own dialogue choices and have our own dialogue cutscenes and both have chances for dialogue and not have a voting system? Or will all the dialogue decisions be voting and only one character in the dialogue cutscenes will be present every time?
So either of you can start the conversation, and if you change your mind and want another to take over, you can "leave" and let the other initiate it, you can both watch it, you can vote and they will see your vote, but the person who initiated the conversation gets to decide whatever they want

I just have a question if for example a friend of mine hosts a game and i join with my own character so it would be 2 companions, do my companions also level up ? For example if i play sometimes with my friend sometimes alone, would be good if the level ups for my companions and my main character are simultaneously Or is there just a level for your own character and your companions are automatically the same level as your main character? Does this even work ? Or do you have to make a different campaign for solo and for online?
I've got a group of 4 players, but one friend is so limited on free/gaming time (2 young children), that I doubt they'll be able to do a separate single-player playthru to experience all the NPC interactions from having the Origin NPCs tag along. In trying to think of a way for them to still experience those NPC quests, I was wondering if instead of joining at initial character creation, I instead joined the party after play had begun and let them assign me one of the Origin characters. If I did this, would I be able to swap between the NPCs at camp, and would me controlling said NPC still allow their story interactions to take place (e.g. Lae'zel needing to be in the party to talk to someone who had seen another Gith, Karlach asking to be in the party when we confront the paladins, etc) OR would a player controlling an NPC prevent those interactions from happening (in which case I might as well just create a custom character from the get-go)?
This looks amazing. I can't find anybody locally to play D&D with. I'll be playing both single player and custom multiplayer with 2, possibly 3, others.
Hello, can you help me please. I would like to know how to play by myself a campaign that my friend and myself started. When we initially started playing my friend would just invite me via Steam to join the game, but when he is not playing I have no idea how to load the save we have. Is it not possible, or maybe I am just missing something.
One thing I am not sure of is how the controls will work for split screen. Do you need to set up two mice and two keyboards, or say, 1 k& m plus 1 controller. I don't want to be passing the keyboard back and forth.
There is multiple games in wich split screen is only available for console. For two main reason : The PC controller as you said, and PC monitors are some time too small to assure a good experience.
I already know what I am doing when I t release I am going solo for the first playthrough then with a friend this game going to be huge already pre-order on PS5 can't wait
Sorry just to confirm...if me and my mate buy this game start it together same day creating our custom characters we cannot finish the story together ? So if he always joins my game when we finish the game only i technically have finished it, meaning he gets no story trophies/achievements or story progression nothing ? And if i can't play cause im busy he can't continue and do side quests or explore alone, then when I come back we just continue the main story? For example is it like the borderlands games where you do main story together and I (the host) leave to go bed, other players can continue playing side quests leveling up and that not doing story missions, then when I come back we continue the story. Or is it like we do 10 story missions together I go off-line, does he lose all those 10 missions we did together, so if he wants to go do side missions in his own game while im not there, all those missions we did are gone for him in his game if he decides to play alone...if so that's shit as and we won't be getting it...could anyone please confirm for us Thanks
I'm playing single and multiplayer with my wife. My wife is doing the same. We created a character in each's party and occasionally hop into each other's games to play them. A way to try alts without having to replay the whole game.
Question, if you make a multiplayer game with players A, B, C, and D (all of whom have their own Tavs) and player D isn't able to make it to a session, would you be able to have a player E show up, make their own Tav, and join the adverture?
Also the host holds the saved data. It is not jum in jump out coop. You make a new character when joining your friends story. Or you both start from the beginning, but remember the host always has to start the game. Its like this because each character has there own story, you cant just leave your story and join a friends. Makes sense
If i wanted to do Multiplayer from scratch as my main playthrough, but wanted to do a separate playthrough solo depending on if my party cant play, can i have 2 campaigns saved simultaneously?
I want to play this game on Playstation 5 with two friends and my wife. Can me and my wife both play with our own characters on the same Playstation 5 and TV? So co-op + multiplayer? Or will we have to share a character and decide dialogue options together/take turns in combat in order to be able to play it together?
Or 2 players can LAN connect on one copy from what I understand and play in the same home on 2 different computers with one copy, like couch co-op but with their own computer/monitor, but not online

from what i’ve experienced, i played dark urge warlock with a friend playing paladin (paladin ‘i can fix her’ mentality while trying to damage control constant murder rp) and we had to do most of the rp on mic, doesn’t seem like there’s too much character on character interaction with the multiplayer, which is a shame but still fun!
My wife and I used to play champions of Norrath back in the day on PlayStation. We are looking forward to playing this especially since it's DD turn based.
We used to play DD Friday nights back in the day.
We're gonna be doing some couch co op
You are going to have a blast, it’s the best co-op experience ever
Well you have made up my mind. We are getting it for sure for the PS5. Spoke to the wife and she's on board.@@TheNathanNAPALM
I've only played the game solo and normally this is what I prefer. However, I have a few irl friends who love the game and I think this is one of the rare times I would actually be willing to either join them or have them join me. I think that would also be a good way to show them cool stuff you did or found and have them show you too. I am currently on my 2nd playthrough and I am choosing different dialogue options to fit a chaotic neutral character and it's almost brand new for me already.
Ok so I need help me and my brother both played an hour of multiplier from scratch, we both created our people and the game auto saved both our games before we got off but when we got back on to play multiplier again we couldn’t find the people we made and where we left off, it made us reset so how can we make it to where we are able to save get off and jump right back in to where we left off when we get on another time?
Whoever started the multiplayer is the host, only they can start it back by going to LOAD and picking it from the list : then the other person can join once the host has it loaded up. You can also press ESC and go to Session and then click the + and invite them to the game. The saves are all stored on the Host's PC
@@TheNathanNAPALM ok thank you so much I’ll try that next time
Question: If my friend and I start a coop splitscreen in his playstation, will I still be able to continue playing with the character I created when I come home and play BG3 in my playstation in online coop? and the experience/things we can do will be the same?
Great video btw!
Nice video Nathan! Very useful too. I had no idea about that Coop possibility. Lots of things to consider now! :D
Glad I could help! Should be a ton of fun! Hope you are having a blast at your event!
can you splitscreen and online at same time? does anyone know? would love to play with a friend and their partner, but its not viable for them to get multiple devices for if we just used online feature alone.
This is my question.
I love automated subtitles. also Butter Skate 3 is my favorite game 😂
lol
Thank you! Any info about can you play double split-screen? Like two couples playing together on two machines?
Yeah not sure but I hope so
Game looks great and can't wait to play with a friend.
With computers being able to handle 2 monitors, can you do split screen and split it on each monitor?
I will be playing next weekend with 3 friends on PS5. Should we play with 4 created characters or 4 origin characters? I heard origin characters get special story and items?
Both ways is absolutely fantastic to be honest, play it however you decide and you won't be disappointed no matter what
I've been invited to play by 2 different parties (at different scheduled times), Is it possible to do this or do I need to get a 2nd copy of the game to do it?
Yes you can run many different campaigns, they will just have different save files
Thank you for confirming that you can have a party of unique characters if you want.
My pleasure, glad it helped you!
Hey. Thanks for the video. Sorry if I missed this but if I play with one friend do we each control one of the NPC characters? So basically each play 2 characters?
Yes, the host can assign one of the NPCs or Companions to the other player
@@TheNathanNAPALM awesome. Thanks for the reply :)
question, in divinity original sin 2 you could do coop and online at the same time. can you do this in BG3?
and what i mean is 2 players on one PS5/PC and another 2 playing on PS5/PC all together.
so two copies of the game but 4 players online
hadn't thought of that and not sure, can't find anything confirming that or denying it
@@TheNathanNAPALM yeah, I've been assuming that you can cause they did it for their last game. But that's not a guarantee. I also haven't found anything that says you can do it either, so I hope we get to find out if we can soon.
Don't quote me on this but I feel preeetty sure they said you could during the last Panel from Hell. You could always check the split screen co-op section of it and see.
5:46 would I want PVP arenas in the game? Well sure, why not? But the thing is, though I haven’t tried it yet, I’m sure you and a friend could just decide to engage in PVP anywhere if you wanted.
But perhaps an arena could be a fun place to recruit a future companion?
After actually watching: great video! Well thought out and you really took your time to adress potential questions in detail.
I appreciate that!
Im planning to run a solo campaign, a 2p campaign and a 4p campaign. Super excited!
Sounds great! So much content!
I have a question and havent been able to find any information on it yet, if you play with friends, as far as romancing goes, can we each romance someone of our choosing or is it just the hosts experience?
Each person can
Awesome! Thank you!
Finally clear and detailed explanation. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Would you have to have any information regarding cross-play? I am unsure of whether or not you can play with console players on pc.
No crossplay they are saying, only cross saves
Is there any ingame chat intergration? My friend is muted sadly, alt tab to check discord msg occasionally is a bit of a hassle
I don’t see anything like that unfortunately
Hi, if me and friend begin together and each has character created. On Day 2, friend play ahead alone and progress the story first without waiting me who doesn't log in. On Day 3, is it possible for me to log in to join friend on his progressed?
Co-op split screen... are both players able to make a custom character? Or only just one, and the other has to play a companion?
Both can!
does it matter who hosts a co-op campaign? are there any benefits to being host? will npc's affinity only be focused on the host, or can a npc like one play and despise the other? I basically just want to know if control and interaction with the world/characters/story is equally shared amongst all players.
Yeah each player makes their own decisions and although some things could affect everyone in some way because it could change the course of the story for all, the affinity is just for the person who did the thing if that makes sense
is there any way to use my current character from my own playthrough in a multiplayer world with my friends? or do i have a make a new character from scratch? i cant just use my current character? the whole thing seems super confusing
if i want to make a copy of my current character (just race/ class/ looks wise) i have to literally just build the character again? spent an hour on this already just the other day when i got the game myself
is there a con to playing online co op, is the story butchered slightly without the npcs and their side quests/ lore?
If I'm playing with one friend, is there any way for us both to create 2 custom characters each? Or do we have to create 1 and choose one of the existing ones?
Yes you can both make custom characters!
@@TheNathanNAPALM no but I mean four custom characters. Two each.. how do we do that? Thanks for helping!!
if you mean 2 player couch co-op combining with another 2 player couch co-op I don't think that's possible at this time
So, explain to me please if I play with a friend can we both make our own dialogue choices and have our own dialogue cutscenes and both have chances for dialogue and not have a voting system? Or will all the dialogue decisions be voting and only one character in the dialogue cutscenes will be present every time?
So either of you can start the conversation, and if you change your mind and want another to take over, you can "leave" and let the other initiate it, you can both watch it, you can vote and they will see your vote, but the person who initiated the conversation gets to decide whatever they want
So it seems we won’t have cross platform co-op as an option? No way to play with friends who are on pc, xbox, and ps5?
Yeah no cross platform at this time.
Thank you for the info! Time to start the epic adventure.
Have fun!
Hey Nathan how can i get in on some Multiplayer action? Do we have to book in advance? :3
I’ve got several groups already planned but there could be room for more!
For question 1, you only need 2 controllers from what I've read. Can't do keyboard/ mouse at all.
Question 2, I don't know.
So you can both play your created characters and play through the story together right?
Is the split screen for PC played with 2 keyboards and 2 mice?
going to play with my hubby and some friends...and possibly my daughter depending on some settings :D
I just have a question if for example a friend of mine hosts a game and i join with my own character so it would be 2 companions, do my companions also level up ?
For example if i play sometimes with my friend sometimes alone, would be good if the level ups for my companions and my main character are simultaneously
Or is there just a level for your own character and your companions are automatically the same level as your main character?
Does this even work ?
Or do you have to make a different campaign for solo and for online?
So companions level up with the host it looks like, but characters or real players level up from being there when the xp is earned
At this point when a player isn’t playing you can control their character like they are a companion
Can't wait to play this with my friend group!
Great video. Well explained. Helped my wife and I decide how we'll play together. (From scratch)
Glad it helped!
I don't want to be passing the keyboard back and forth.
yeah you would need 2 ways to play for sure, 1kb & mouse and a controller would work I assume
There is multiple games in wich split screen is only available for console. For two main reason : The PC controller as you said, and PC monitors are some time too small to assure a good experience.
@@Sakdos This is why I connect my PC to my larger screen TV. Will be interesting to see how it fares with control.
We apparently need 2 controllers hooked up for it to work.
From what I understand, split screen only supports controllers and you cannot use a m&k. Apologies if this was changed/wrong.
Does BG3 jave friendly fire? For example, if i cast chain lightning, can it chain to my companion?
Some do, I'm not 100% on Chain Lightning, haven't tried that one, but I can confirm that Fireball will absolutely do friendly fire
I already know what I am doing when I t release I am going solo for the first playthrough then with a friend this game going to be huge already pre-order on PS5 can't wait
I might get it again on PS5 lol
What about crossplay? The only thing i found about, is that the Playstation won't have any, but will Xbox and PC?
There is no Xbox release date at this time, so we shall see
Sorry just to confirm...if me and my mate buy this game start it together same day creating our custom characters we cannot finish the story together ? So if he always joins my game when we finish the game only i technically have finished it, meaning he gets no story trophies/achievements or story progression nothing ?
And if i can't play cause im busy he can't continue and do side quests or explore alone, then when I come back we just continue the main story?
For example is it like the borderlands games where you do main story together and I (the host) leave to go bed, other players can continue playing side quests leveling up and that not doing story missions, then when I come back we continue the story.
Or is it like we do 10 story missions together I go off-line, does he lose all those 10 missions we did together, so if he wants to go do side missions in his own game while im not there, all those missions we did are gone for him in his game if he decides to play alone...if so that's shit as and we won't be getting it...could anyone please confirm for us
Thanks
I'm playing single and multiplayer with my wife. My wife is doing the same. We created a character in each's party and occasionally hop into each other's games to play them. A way to try alts without having to replay the whole game.
in a co-op from scratch play thru say 2 person game will both players have an option to chose urge build?
Yes they both can
3:41 I think these are the new or reborn 'dead three'. Cant' remember the character names but they resemble the three main villains revealed so far.
Question, if you make a multiplayer game with players A, B, C, and D (all of whom have their own Tavs) and player D isn't able to make it to a session, would you be able to have a player E show up, make their own Tav, and join the adverture?
That’s what I want to know lol
Also the host holds the saved data. It is not jum in jump out coop. You make a new character when joining your friends story. Or you both start from the beginning, but remember the host always has to start the game. Its like this because each character has there own story, you cant just leave your story and join a friends. Makes sense
If i wanted to do Multiplayer from scratch as my main playthrough, but wanted to do a separate playthrough solo depending on if my party cant play, can i have 2 campaigns saved simultaneously?
Yes you can have as many save files for different campaigns as you want
I want to play this game on Playstation 5 with two friends and my wife. Can me and my wife both play with our own characters on the same Playstation 5 and TV? So co-op + multiplayer? Or will we have to share a character and decide dialogue options together/take turns in combat in order to be able to play it together?
Not me finding out it has a split screen version after already buying the game again so I can play with my husband 😐
aw no, well at least you can play on your own screens now
Any kind of share-play option for co-op? I assume both players need to own the game.
Or 2 players can LAN connect on one copy from what I understand and play in the same home on 2 different computers with one copy, like couch co-op but with their own computer/monitor, but not online
@@TheNathanNAPALM Thanks! That would be perfect for my situation if so. I'll look into it.
Can't wait for when it comes out, have plans for MP from scratch and it's gonna be so much fun
The hype is real. I am ready for this game :)
oh, and great video and good write-up!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hyyyype!
How does Affinity work in multiplayer??
If im the one talking to Laezel and she likes what i said, is that also transferred to my friends character, or will they have a different relationship for when they talk to Laezel??
Will there be characters that hates one of us and loves the other, or is the Affinity shared/separate between players??
Does Baldur’s Gate 3 support crossplay between PS5 and PC?
Unfortunately no, wish it did
The only reason I won’t buy it
