      Are there no seniors tournaments in the chess world? I'm thinking probably not, at least not on a FIDE and international scale. But wouldn't it be great to once again see the old timers who have since made way for young blood, making a comeback in the seniors divisions?

      @@aram9167 You can't be embarrassing yourself when playing against the top of the world. Maybe he wouldn't beat the very top players lately but he shall still deserve more respect than this. His name is known even to people who don't have anything to do with chess. I'd say that tells you something about the guy.

      @Srilankan Tourist Your stupid. They are all extremely good players, so just because he does not want to keep losing to a World Champ in his prime mean hes any worse. Also, of coarse he kept challenging Kasparov and Anand, they were kid of the same chess generation as him.

    • @tome57a
      @tome57a 5 років тому +12

      If i remember correctly, there were two main theories as to why this happened. First, Kramnik was most likely mentally exhausted from playing against Deep Fritz due to the necessary intense calculations required. (Machines punish the slightest tactical inaccuracies.) Second, this is a very unusual mating pattern and it's well-known that GMs rely on pattern recognition to save on calculation time. This pattern just wasn't on Kramnik's mind.

If every viewer has 1 square metre to stand in then that is equivalent to 500,000 sq metres or a field 500 metres x 1,000. metres. The Earth has a surface area of 510 million sq. km, or 510, 000,000,000,000 sq. metres. You have only exaggerated Antonio's popularity by a factor of about 10 billion. You must love his videos, or Antonio, very much! Perhaps by his 40's, Antonio would have posted 10 billion videos. Well, an awful lot anyway. Good on you Antonio. Don’t waste your time. He’s a stalker. Follows me around pretending to act knowledgeable and trolling. I think he might be a conspiracy theorist, but I don’t remember where I first saw him show up.
      I think all would have been better if his parents had just given him a puppy when he was a kid. That is not to suggest that he would have learned compassion from the dog, but after he tortured it they would have sat down and wondered, “Gee, Droceretik shot the puppy with a staple gun again, maybe there’s something wrong with him.”

I find it amazing that we live in a generation where we get to experience games between these legends and 50-100 years from now they’ll still be appreciated like they should. Kramnik is an amazing player and will 100% be one of the most important influences for the future chess generation.

      I am afraid not. Its just almost impossible to have the same will in a candidates as the young generation who really wants to fight for THE title - a title he has had many years. This is a mental thing - and physical its harder and harder to keep such a concentration over many hours for many games in a few weeks - maybe even Carlsen is already feeling that - appart from the impact it has on you when you don't know anything else than beeing chased for such a long time. As Big Boris said: "None of my years were more unlucky than the three I was world chess champion." Well of course during cold war it was much much more pressure and publicity than we know it now (and thats good), but still...

    Great game by Kramnik and great video. It´s sad that Kramnik ended his career with the last place in Wijk aan Zee. He overpressed several games and lost. His game against Giri was devastating. This was not the Kramnik we knew.

    15:07 I couldn't find the checkmate in 4, because I assumed after Bxd3+ white just captures with the queen instead of the rook. I fail to see how the queen on d1 helps with anything, whereas from d3 it guards the pawn on c4 so the continuation discussed in the video is not possible. Can someone explain to me how black punishes Qxd3? I cannot find it.

    after 3:55, black c4 move - If white instead.. dxe6 2. d4xbd3 e6xf7+ // if black ..f7x e6 then kng5 ..or direct e5! ( knh4 followed by idea Qh5.) Is it worth a bishop sac on d3? As white I would considered it.

    You need to search well to find a non boring Kramnik game, this was one of the good ones. The checkmate with the bishop check... it's not that mate combos don't start with checks, they do, but who would give up this pin? the N also blocks an escape route, it's pinned, your bishop can be used in some other part of your combo, it's counter-intuitive to give it up so early. Unless, there is a checkmate there... I think the checkmate is not that hard to find, it's just not something most people would straight up consider. And under pressure or tiredness he might have missed it, despite him being the world champion of classical chess.
    And when Kramnik started his attack in this game, there was also a hint of a draw there, at least a possibility. Kasparov said no to the draw and defended against it, this was stupid - I mean, sure, defend, but let Kramnik draw a winning position, give him that chance. Kramnik would take the draw no matter what.

  • @thescholiast5118
    @thescholiast5118 4 роки тому

    The alternative checkmate you suggest for Kramnik wouldn't work if after Black plays Bxd3+, White plays Qxd3 instead of Rxd3, because at the end, after Rxe4+ White will play Qxe4 and no checkmate.

    Hi I am not sure if you are correct that he missed the mate in 4 move as taking Knight with queen is also an option which might just equalize the position...m not a expert player so ignore this if you feel m not right otherwise you can cut the only sad part of this game.
