I'm 62 and I share your thoughts, a very touching song in my life and the things that were happening. Family deaths where I was going in life!! Ms T Ellis
My dad introduced me to The Hollies, one of the best things he did. I grew up with them, I am 51 now, and love them just as much now as I did back then.
This song has been my favorite since it originally was recorded in 1969, the year I graduated from high school. My oldest brother was 2 yrs younger. We were very close our whole lives. He passed away in June. Till we meet again, he ain't heavy he's my brother. Blessed be.💜🙏💜
This song reminds me of my grandson’s, their both Marines, the oldest is now a county sheriff in NC his brother is still in active duty, my oldest grandson told me about how during boot camp they would have to put a Marine on their backs and take them to the designated safe place, he said it’s true grandma, no brother or sister left behind
This song absolutely is for my brother. He is what anyone would like for his brother to be like. I'm so so proud and blessed to have him and I thank God for him. Alan Clark and Tony Hicks are amazing and to me they don't get much better than the Hollies ❤😊
Yeah I feel the same way had a great time growing up in the 60s 70s and music we're very lucky to be living in living now enjoy every minute of it God bless you
When we were little, my brother and I, like many kids, used to squabble a lot. My Mom put up the famous "He ain't heavy, he's my brother..." painting in our bedroom. That was sixty years ago. I've never forgotten that message. Thank you Mom. And my brother and I don't squabble any more. 🙏🙏
@@Ian-ee8fsHe's not lip syncing off of the original track. This is a completely different arrangement and it's in a lower key. So time did take a toll on his vocal range but still sounds great.
One of the epic songs by the Hollies it will and has stood the test of time, a classic in its own right, makes the hairs stand up at the back of your neck. 👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️ now that is music!
I love this song everyday of my life cause, it was so popular during the Vietnam War and I live Vietnam every seconds of my life. I was to young to volunteer
8 years old...to watch my parents hug and kiss..dance for a minute after work while these great songs of that era would play... cocktail time before family dinner circa 1969.
Wow. That was very smooth. Still fabulous voice and voices. There has been nothing lost in the years up to ‘93. This has to be one of my too 5 favorite songs on this earth.
I too did not understand the meaning of this song back in 69 but as I spent more and more time in my 20 year Air Force career, the meaning became as clear as a bell. Whether you are in the military, police force, a firefighter or just have fought for justice where tyranny needs to be overcome, you bond with others in a common cause to the point where you become that close, as close as brothers. When you are in the middle of a bad situation and you have a wounded member, you have no problem carrying your brother to safety. You'll do anything for your brothers and that's what this song means to me.
I'll confess that at the time of its release this song did nothing for me... but as I aged and I slowly grew to understand the lyrics it began to inhabit me. Today at 67 it hits me right in the chest. God Bless the Hollies.
Dishonest having my people on the sun is heavy very heavy can you feel how heavy it really is yes you can cuz you my brothers and sisters together we stand divided we fall Wanda one Love in the name of the father son and the holy spirit amen
I agree with you as I drove older and hopefully wiser at age 54 that song it's to my core when I think about friends I have now The brotherhood is real and very important and this song even before I knew it has great meaning
I have loved this song and its message since I first heard it in 1969. I taught it to my third graders at Holy Ghost Catholic School in Albuquerque for the 1992 Christmas program, and as we were leaving the front of the church, the parish priest took me aside and told it was his very favorite song. I'll be 78 this November, and "He Ain't Heavy" is still on my rather long list of favorite songs.
When I was young getting to "there" was quite different and mostly short sighted. Now that I'm older and have realized what "there" really means, the responsibility we all have to each other in this life becomes truly necessary. Thanks to Allan Clarke and the Hollies for such a beautiful soul wrenching message.
Every single night from the time this song came out and all the way through high school this was the last thing I listened to as I went to sleep. Now in the winter of life, it means even more.
This is why we are here. We are each other’s keeper, especially when no one else is. West Papua, abandoned by the world for 60 years. Genocide, ethnocide, ecocide. I stand by you. PAPUA MERDEKA!
This is a timeless masterpiece and I love it even more now as I get older. The meaning in this classic is for the age’s and the harmonies of the Hollies give me chills❤🎶
THE HOLLIES ... WOW ..INCREDIBLE.... STAYING POWER ..ALSO A CD says so much... AND ..THEN NOW AND ALWAYS ....ALSO A NEWER. CD has an autograph and 2022 MAYBE THE NEXT...JUST IMAGINE.. CD..
AMEN, absolutely beautiful live performance, sounds as great or better, when he was a younger man. Still a beautiful song, and I agree this song brings tears to your eyes.
This one song from the Hollies is still my #1song still yet from the first time I had heard it in the early 70's this song I will never get tired of it. The Hollies had great songs this one was the best one for me. At the time I was only 14 when I had heard He Ain't Heavy.

Fantastic song. Fantastic voice.
It doesn't when you mime off the original track
