  • My hero, Carol Burnett. She is a genius. She stood up for gay rights on national television, when it was NOT OKAY TO BE GAY. I watch this as an adult, who was a child in the 70's, looking back, knowing what I know now, she and everyone in this skit, took A HUGE RISK. It's not hard to read between the lines. In the 70's and 80's, EVERYDAY after school, I watched Carol Burnett. She lifted my spirits bc I was and still am that weird kid. Her humor, that show shaped the humor that I have today.Your welcome world! #carolburnett #anitabryant #lgbt #sketchcomedy

Carol Burnett was/is a true icon, not just for gay people, but for everyone. She took a stand in tearing down barriers simply by poking fun at them--and sometimes in a savagely funny way. Loved her show then, love the reruns now.

Gays have inalienable rights, which include living their authentic life, engaging in politics and commerce free of the burdens of religious intolerance you somehow imagine should quash their liberty, and pursuing their own happiness.

cheistopher f. reidy That does not mean you know anything about the private lives of the talent who regularly appeared on The Carol Burnett Show. For example, Harvey Korman’s off-camera life is none of your business.
Also, you can not generalize about who watched the show in the 1960s or 1970s. It was a network television show, so millions of people watched it regularly or sometimes caught parts of the hour-long telecasts while changing channels.
You can generalize about who attended Village People concerts but not about who watched an American network television series.
Be careful when making generalizations about people, christopher f. reidy.

The studio audience would be used as a sounding board to help the network determine the reaction it would get nationally. To worship the goddess Venus they would perform ritualistic sexual acts in the temple. Romans has nothing to do with loving relationships between adults, rather wantonness and idolatry.
