I’m an old lady now but I remember Anita Bryant. I hated her. I was raised by two loving, doting attentive Dads back in a time when nobody ever heard of such a thing. She did so much damage. I remember her advertising oranges and orange juice. I didn’t drink orange juice for years and years. If people would spend more time and energy on real problems and stay the hell out of people’s bedrooms, what a happier world this would be.
Anita was right. And you didn’t hate her. You hated God and likely blamed him for your circumstances while accepting as “good” the situation you were thrust into as a means to cope. I’m sorry that you didn’t have your mother and father married raising you with the love reflected from God (for whatever reason as it’s always outside of a child’s control and I truly am sorry). Learned about this vile woman while watching #LastCallHBO. Several gay men's lives were brutally snuffed and the perpetuators directly attributed their morbid actions to her hateful words. The downfall was warranted. Those lives lost are on her hands.

I am watching the movie Milk again and thought of AB. I wonder if he'd still be alive if she hadn't spewed her hatred. Harvey milk was a person I respected and even though he was before my time I still liked his ideas about freedom. We don't know much about his love life except that he like guys younger then he was but this isn't about his personal life. He was murdered due to politics by his Co worker over political issues.

I’m an old lady now but I remember Anita Bryant. I hated her. I was raised by two loving, doting attentive Dads back in a time when nobody ever heard of such a thing. She did so much damage. I remember her advertising oranges and orange juice. I didn’t drink orange juice for years and years. If people would spend more time and energy on real problems and stay the hell out of people’s bedrooms, what a happier world this would be.

Harvey milk was a person I respected and even though he was before my time I still liked his ideas about freedom. He ran his campaign on the idea that he worked for all people in his area, both gay and straight, black and white, young man old. He was also a republican. We don't know much about his love life except that he like guys younger then he was but this isn't about his personal life. He was murdered due to politics by his Co worker over political issues.
