You can move the box pretty easily by unlocking if you wanted to. We have had it on the back for months with no issues. But yes have considered permanently mounting on roof. Stay tuned for a new video on gear.
You said that it’ll say the motors are stuck when attempting to move itself, have you had any issues or concerns with something breaking so that it no longer has the ability to move? Considering this setup so just curious. Thanks!
No, haven’t had any issues. I’ve heard other experience this same error message when they immobilize the dish so I believe it is common. However I’ve since switched to the high performance dish so that it can be permanently mounted (I didn’t feel comfortable doing the modifications to the old dish to achieve the same result, plus the in-motion capability is nice). Hope that helps - in short, I think the setup is good and it did not cause me any issues. Thanks for watching!
@@howwevan thanks for you info!!! Were you able to get any trade in value when upgrading? Debating since I just got my standard yesterday whether to swap out early on/exchange if there’s a change to want to upgrade this year.
Didn’t get any trade in value for the old dish. Still have it and considering giving to a family member if they ever want to give Starlink a try. Performance seems comparable between the 2 versions. Only advantage of the “high performance” one seems to be that it can more easily be permanently mounted on the roof (which I find easier, but some like the ability to be able to move the dish around).
@@howwevan yea… I like the permanent mount idea also. Debating paying to have an installer convert the standard to flat just for power saving sake to on what it takes to run the high performance vs standard (at least according to specs), glad to hear there’s not a huge difference in performance either way! That’s nice
Our stealth Starlink setup is great for discreet camping. See how our stealth camping experience unfolded: ua-cam.com/video/ZQTR9ds19E0/v-deo.html
Thanks for that video! Really cool.
Glad you liked it. Safe travels.
Thanks so much
Of course!
Did you consider mounting it permanently on roof with the ability to quickly take it out for cases where you are parked in a shaded area?

Always a pleasure hearing from you! Safe travels and appreciate you watching!
