Jerry is the undisputed riff lord of all time, but Go just gets me pumped every time I hear it
What’s sad to me is I’m 22 and even I know Jerry’s worth. But I notice that ppl who don’t know or listen to AIC don’t even know who he is. He’s almost criminally underrated as far as riff creativity, always keeping the riffs fresh and new sounding, but so catchy they stay stuck in your head 3 songs after the AIC song you were listening to is over hahaha also his song writing is SUPER underrated
Glad to see TAD and L7 in your video! Love them.
Cheers Josh!
Kudos on including actual 'grunge' bands, you know, the ones that created the sound... melvins, TAD, L7
Thanks mate! Thought I’d show them some love 😊🤘
Amazing pedal and amazing tone
Thanks mate! It's a lot of fun tbh haha
Starts with Grind! Automatically I pressed the like button!
Haha! 😀🤘
Room a Thousand Years Wide is Soundgarden's most underrated song
HELL FUCKING YEAH BRO❤️❤️❤️ love this song so much
I like Somewhere and Mind Riot, better than that one, but that album was pretty easy to play without skipping anything.
It’s an absolute stonker
Too right.
Everything that ever happened is underrated.
One Way Mule slaps so hard, couldn’t agree more. Love Silverchair
Absolutely. I've had that one playing almost constantly for the last few weeks, I love that song that much. Silverchair was such an awesome band, wish they were still together.
Me too! More Silverchair to come!
This pedal sounds really nice!
Thanks mate, it’s a superb pedal, Empress make very lovely things! 😀🤘
glad to see silverchair here! my favorite band
Awesome channel !!!
Thanks mate!
One way mule was a great surprise 🤘🏻
As soon as you said drop B I knew it was gonna be One Way Mule! 😍
Great!! Damn your vids are badass no matter the content!!!
ah thanks so much! 😊🤘
Some nice sounds, happy 1st of April 😂 The FX tones are actually well picked here. Wargasm - sound of the times 😉
Thanks buddy!
Empress are the best. Got the reverb for my modular system and it's impossible to sound bad.
Oh man I’ve got that one to demo and I already have way too many riffs for it! Amazing company 😊🤘
Grind 😎 and that Melvins riff 🤘 🎸
😊🤘
The breakdown riff from Pearl Jam’s Garden is so heavy to me. Starts at 2:15
ah yes that is a beefy tune too, Deep too!
Saw this pedal first on Emily Hopkins' channel (she used it with a harp), and I actually went out and bought it, it's great!
Loving the Melvins sound too!
Amazing, love Emily’s videos! 😀🤘
When you said "Tune your E string down to B" I immediately knew it was gonna be One Way Mule. I've had that song on near constant repeat for the last few weeks, I just love it. Those guys were phenomenal, and Diorama is an amazing album.
Such a huuuge tone, great tune!
When I heard drop B my mind went straight to the end of Rusty Cage. Shame it wasn’t included here.
@@dylanja09 another classic! I tried to limit myself to just one riff per band, I think Soundgarden riffs deserve their own top 10 tbh! 😀🤘
@@LetsPlayAll absolutely! Hopefully we see that one soon haha 😁🤘
#Nashville loves you! Killer playing!! #615boys #Broadwayboys
Good demo Matt - looks like great pedal for heavy stuff. I like it's got a noise gate that works. Why would you ever turn it off :)
Thanks Peter! Tbh the pickups in the Heritage deal with high gain incredibly well, they're way less noisy than some of my other guitars, so I didn't use it for most of the demo, but it's super handy to have the noise gate built in for sure, just kills any unwanted noise without ruining the tone!
You definitely nailed the tones, and I love versatile pedals like this. Nice work! Don't forget to show us the clean tone and signal path before you start! =)
Cheers mate! Clean tone is the same in every vid so I forget to post that, basically amp (victory v40) is always on very edge of breakup 🤘😊
dont know if it was mentioned in the comments, but CoC, Albatross is Heavy AF***
Is that your new guitar? Any good? Looks the awesome.
And amigo we need a full lesson on Negative Creep. One if not the best Nirvana Tunes…
Yes mate, it's immense, Heritage Custom Core H-150 :-) Nice will add NC to the list mate!
Wow the first one
Is that a new Heritage guitar 🎸? Nice demo.
Thanks! Yes mate, well it’s new to me anyways! I put a vid on INstagram yesterday, great guitars 😀🤘
@@LetsPlayAll I’m not on Instagram much but that flashy soulful top and super sounds are amazing. Great choice.
Soundgarden 4th of July
Hey I want a pedal to cop the sound from a jmp1 as used by the SP in MCIS, the Ada mp 1 channel is no longer available and some folks say that the borner xtc red has not enough gain. Is the empress heavy a good alternative, would you mind doing some MCIS songs with this one ?
This has a tonne of gain on tap, but if you're looking for MCIS tones a lot of the dirt tones tend to be more Big Muff fuzz based (Jelly Belly, Zero, Bullet with Butterfly wings etc), but plenty of gain here for any of their distorted riffs
Wow that Melvins riff sounds like Lamb of God .....!!
No, Lamb of God sounds like Melvins, give credit where it's due; Melvins have outlived many bands that they inspired, Lamb of God being a future one of them.
Sounds like a mix of an Orange/Boogie/800
Can I ask what is wrong with the victory amps overdrive
Sure! The model I have is the V40, which is a single clean channel, so it doesn't actually have a distorted channel. It will get into a very mild overdrive when cranked but it's basically a great "pedal platform" amp and I prefer getting my tones using pedals. Hope that helps!
4th of July by soundgarden.
Sound gardens 4th of July sooooo heavy
Only way to start a 90s video on riffs is to start with something the Riff Lord Jerry Cantrell wrote
Hmmmm, Silverchair with the heaviest riff? Harder to get heavier (in grunge) than TAD or Melvins.
Haha well just my opinion but to me that guitar tone just sounds heavier and thicker than the Tad or Melvins tracks. All are mighty riffs tho!
Man, if I close my eyes I hear Mark from "The Peep Show" talking about grunge gear.
hahaha i love that show
Oof, that's a pretty raunchy pedal!😬🤘
Oof indeed!
Heaviest Grunge riffs? Anything off of Soundgarden’s Echo Of Miles.
I feel a follow up brewing ;-)
Heavy , heavier then there's Giant Haystacks ( one for 80s kids there )
Haha tbh that’s a pedal idea right there. Giant Haystacks on one side and Big Daddy on the other 😂
Standard drop D isn’t heavy anymore in my eyes. Drop F# and drop E is where it’s at lol. But to be fair, the distortion tones sound good for those songs.
Haha, thanks mate 😂
Jesus Christ Pose!
Wrong guitar
if this is wrong, i don't want to be right 😀
Got me good playing 💯
Courtney stole that last riff off Kurt for sure… he would have played it off guts but would never make a song with it
According to Courtney, Billy Corgan wrote that last riff.
