Wasn't expecting a Davidian riff, but it sounded great!
I have the Empress heavy and adore it. I think for 99.9% of people the Heavy Menace will be the only high gain distortion they will need. Great demo Matt. Seriously good selection of bands chosen.

How would you compare the Heavy to the Heavy Menace? I’m having a hard time deciding which to get (size of the pedal doesn’t play a factor for me)
@@DirtyDirkDiggler If pedalboard size not a consideration then likely boils down to budget and whether you'd use two channels or not. Personally if I could only have one it'd probably be the two channel affair just for the flexibility but just be aware the two channels are identical circuits, so essentially you just get to have two fave tones to switch between (or set them the same but one with a higher vol for solos etc). Can't go wrong with either tbh tho!
for the deftones riff i’m surprised you left out the embellishments that stepehen does. super easy to miss in practice but when listening to the original it stands out. still an amazing demo and i totally need this pedal. killer as always
thanks man, glad you enjoyed the demo! Planning on some deftones lessons soon, not a band I'm too familiar with so just went with the flavour of this riffs tbh but will spend a bit more time studying them for the lessons :-)

The first thing I see is you alternate picking creeping death. I wasn’t looking at first, and wondered why it sounded different, and a little slower. That was the culprit. Didn’t have that attack.

Yet another great vid. Does the noise gate work independently from the bypass switch or it is only operable when the drive is on?
Good question I think only with the drive but I’ll check
I get a buzz out of this pedal when i hit the bypass button. I tried a power supply i had for my RP 225 pedal which i know works fine. I have not plugged into amp yet so not sure if thats the issue being open. What power supply is best for this pedal?

There’s an adaptive noise gate built in to this pedal mate
which speakers do you use the v30 or g12t75
neither mate, i use a Two Notes Captor X and have a 4x12 with celestion G12M-65 creambacks in the Wall of sound software

Depends what grunge tbh haha, it’s very high gain even on the lower settings but great for heavier grunge like AIC stuff for sure

Depends if you need two channels or one tbh, that’s the biggest difference for me. if one then I’d go for this just cos of the smaller footprint but that’s just my opinion 😊🤘
@@LetsPlayAll The other reviews showed very hairy mids with this pedal, while the heavy appeared a little bit smoother, still strong but more natural, amp like. But I see from your video that you can tone down the mids with the knob and it's fine. Plus you have the lightish which is useful for something else than metal.
@@onehandslinger1475 I haven’t A/B’d them but yea you can still get mid scooped tones. The mid sweep is pretty responsive so subtle tweaks can have fairly big differences.
still prefer the Warp Drive...
