Mel, you’re the best host I’ve ever seen. You prompt, back-off and support the collaborator to bring up their best and their message to the podcast without interrupting. Love your work and this is not the first time I’m saying this. You’ve got a big fan here. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

To me it's being genuine, displaying openness, thoughtful, not overly serious or emotional, having a bit of fun, but also knowing when to be knowledge and insightful. Building others up and recognizing their contributions, and being humble.

Ok. Charisma = Competence + WARMTH. not one or the other. A healthy balance between the two.

  • @RestorationEdenMinistries

Essentially what she is saying it's having high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. That is key for those who want to be charismatic when it is not natural. When we are living in the integrity of who we are, it will come natural. Most people who are charismatic naturally have no idea what it is that make them so and are often surprised at how influential they are without trying. They are not giving their time to how to be charismatic or how to influence. The less calculated it is the more authentic we come across to people. Just be a person of integrity and show consideration for others.
And I will add that not ALL people who are very warm are motivated by being people pleasers because they need to be accepted or liked. Some people actually are wired to be altruistic and to benefit the lives of others without the agenda of doing good for others because of some sort of need for validation. but there does need to be some balance in this like the woman says. There are people who are givers because they know how to LOVE and it is not dependent on reciprocation. I was very warm at work and actually it got me promoted not less respected. It depends on the line of work you are in.

When I was young I would watch and listen. I had great fear of being condemned for what I said. Now I fear silence, I could talk forever, when I’m home and only the cat is with me, I’m sure he wishes I’d go mute. So when I moved into my first apartment, I’d leave the radio on, so when I got home there would be sound in my apartment.😢

So , I think I’m charismatic, /warm and competent-but my last boss didn’t like it. I couldn’t be myself. What do you do about people who see your charisma and can’t be that way and seek to undo you because of envy?

  • @aishwaryababu9352

Listened to the podcast on this but as a third culture adult and having observed different cultures, social norms and cues differ across cultures so charisma is not a universal trait. It must be intentionally learned and practiced. Being warm and trustable yet also credible - thats the jackpot

I don't care what any of those people have to say. The Rock? Oprah? Taylor Swift?
    Why???
Charisma is overblown. It is short term nonsense.
    Don't seek charisma, first.
Be honest and caring and charisma will follow.
