I learned so much from you and not even just about hair but about other things as well. I would truly say that your a prime example of black excellence. One more thing I wanted to say is that, would you consider trying this hair care brand named shedavi? The mane choice was my go to hair care line but since it was sold and the formula was changed I unfortunately can no longer use it. So, I've been trying to find different options and came across shedavi and saw that the ingredients was similar to the mane choice original formula and thought it might be worth the try. I would love to see you try it and see how it works for your hair. I don't know if your going to see this or not but, love you and have a great day!!❤

So the thing with base gels is you use more of the base gel and then use a little bit of the toper. So I usually do the opposite of what you did where I do two pumps of the unkle funky and 1 pump of the ICH. That being said there are other gels where you can just use that one and it comes out almost as good for less money. The doux gels are good on their own.
Have you used the bee girl custard from the doux? I use that one and I’m trying to see the hold vs innersense bc the custard provides a strong hold and I love that
@@cbcooks yes I have and it’s great. Just make sure to use lots of water and start with a small amount and add more gel as needed. If you mess up you get flakes but if you do it right I lasts a long time. I think I only washed because it was time to wash 😊 also don’t stretch it right away.

Curly Magic has a bit of a learning curve to use properly and I think it's perfect for someone like me who hadn't found the right thing yet. I still wasn't getting the results I was looking for and found out that actually for my thicker hair strands that are prone to frizz, a leave in underneath is actually helpful. I use a humectant rich leave in underneath, then put lots of water, then UFD, then more water til it's loud and squishy and chill under a shower cap to let it marinate and apply my topper. I make sure I smooth my product instead of raking. Innersense isn't the topper I use though it's not enough hold for my hair type. It's really good with Bee Girl or Jello Shot.
This is so true. It needs lots of water. Hair should feel heavy with the weight of water and gel. Then put a plastic cap for 30 mins before putting the topper on.

You are so correct - there’s tons of new terms and factors in natural hair using botanical vs plastic (wet line gel, eco style). Humidity and dry climates make a difference in the result. I gotta use a plastic based topper gel out here in my humid streets for a long lasting style. Love your video and honesty.

I don’t call it a base gel. It’s basically a curl stimulant to help get slip get slip. Calling it a gel can be misleading for ppl new to the product imo
Some ppl like using multiples gels instead of a leave in. So a base gel is more lightweight and has more moisture like a leave in while still giving definition like a typical gel. So you would put this gel first then layer a heavier gel next so you could get thst extra hold and weight.
A base gel is basically a gel with hold, and has botanical properties. This is what you use first before topping it with another gel. That’s why it’s called a base gel. You don’t have to use a topper, but if you do, what gel you use 1st is called the base.
This video solidified that I’m gonna leave uncle funky’s daughter on the shelf bc I don’t like styling my hair in the shower and my hair doesn’t take product well when it’s soaking wet anyways

Yea so basically the ufd is a defining leave in? What the heck is a "base gel"? Im honestly still not convinced bc the gel should definitely work on its own (especially being $16). I love the innersense gel though i feel like the innersense works better with other stuff bc with my regular leave in its amazing. The ufd is just a waste of money if you have tighter hair imo i tried my sisters a long time ago and im still unimpressed 🤷🏾♀️

Uncle funkys has a learning curve but also it's about removing the residue from using butters and oils which will allow for a better end product. Also i know washing your hair every 5-10 days seems like a lot of work but when you only use shampoo, conditioner and 1 - 2 stylers your time spent in the shower is significantly reduced (my shower time every 4-5 days is 1hr 30minutes from start [saturation] to finish [styler application]). I used uncle funkys with ecoslay jello shot and the hold I have lasts way beyond 5 days but i choose to wash because I don't want to detangle for more than 10 minutes 😭
The algorithm brought you to me and I couldn’t be happier! You’ve built such a beautiful community here. I do love both of these gels though, and my scalp likes them too thank gawd-but you need to use a lot of water with them. I find I Create Hold to have a really strong hold so now I just think we need to have a meetup and scrunch out the crunch to test our results.

I was researching the whole “no oils, no butters” controversy and came across a 3 step wash method that includes botanical gels/mousses and topper gels that basically replace leave ins, oils and creams. EVERYBODY mentioned innersence and im so glad i got to see someone using the products😭❤️
I love this combo . I usally do the opposite . Two pumps of uncle funky and one to two pumps by of I create hold depending of the size of the section . I don’t do my habit in the shower , I just use a spray bottle and use a decent amount of water . Good luck !

I view Uncle Funky's as a moisturizing gel. It mixes well with other gels and doesn't typically turn white. I also like applying a mousse on top of that. Also, you may need to separate and shingle for more definition. Other than that, you and your hair look great.
That $42 haul is 3 months of product washing and styling once month. Thank you black girl curls and the 30 day hair detox for putting us on these products and how to use them.

I use UFD with Wetline on top of it.. So if you are wanting to use up that UFD throw your Wetline on top of it as the topper.. **then hears you say you don't want to keep using Wetline** Lol.. I apply my UFD in sections in the shower.. Then clip it up and away and put a shower cap on to keep it wet.. Once cleaned off from all the base gel and out the shower lotioned up and such I then take off my cap, apply my topper gel, then sit under the hooded dryer.. Folks can say what they want but I'm gone stick beside my Wetline til my stylist says otherwise.. Lol.. My entire shower, wash, detangle, style, and dry takes 1.5hrs and my hair can last 7-10days but I wash every 5-7 depending on activity level.. We all gota do what works best for us.. I totally get that.. With that, I couldn't do that ICH.. I made the mistake of purchasing only to still need to either refresh or add another gel or mousse to get my desired set.. No ma'am no Pam..
I know what you mean about Uncle Funky’s, I tried to use one of their products alone and it really did need to be combined with another brand’s product to get the effect I wanted. Also, I feel you on the bac(k)ne! When I was using products with less natural ingredients I often had that problem. That I why I love Melanin Hair Care and Quemet Biologics, that runoff doesn’t break me out and kinda saves me from having to use as much body butter after I shower.😅 Thank you and keep coming through with the entertaining and informative videos. 🙌🏾
I tell you the amount of money and time spent for THAT perfect curl clump-age ain’t worth it. When you were showing yourself applying the products in the shower I said, no Mam. Too much. The reality is no matter what gel you spend your money on, your curls will …. always come out the same.
Not really, I can only use eco Krystal right now, the original wetline extreme was my previous gel. Krystal is the only gel that makes my curls form now, anything else I get lil to no curl definition. I literally can't use just any gel

Hi Will, You should try African Pride Moisture Miracle Hold Styling Gel in Black Castor & Jojoba Oil Maxx or in Aloe & Coconut Water as a better alternative for wetline.
I love this video so much! You are a treat to watch. After many failed attempts, my secret for the "beloved" Uncle Funky's Daughter is this: I only use it as a base gel (as my hair is glycerin sensitive) but the moisture is next level! HOWEVER, I must follow up with a hard-hold, glycerin-free gel, or no Bueno! 😂 This, for me, is definitely not a one-and-done. Keep the funnies coming. You brighten my day! ❤
Definitely agree that what works for one person may not work for the next! My hair personally HATES gels with glycerin in the first 5 ingredients. While they may glide on well, they leave my hair sticky and gummy 😩
One thing for sure I'm always guaranteed a laugh with your animated reviews! LoL! But I agree, UFD Curly Magic done nothing for my hair either, even when used as instructed.
You crack me up. I'm glad you figured it out, and FYI ICH isn't the only topper that you can use with UFD. Some other good toppers are Eco Slay Jello Shot and Soultanicals Drip and Grip. I'm one of the unicorns that can use UFD as a one-and-done and have hold for 5 to 7 days.
Will it’s great, but to see full effect you need to do it for the next week. Also I read something about the temperature of the water. You also need to make sure that with the curly magic you emulsify it in your hands try raking with more of your thumb and gliding down the shaft of the hair taughtly. With the inner sense also emulsify. You should be going for a maximum amount of clumpage where the hair has really big clumps. That way the definition lasts way longer. Hope this helped!

I also layer my gels. Once I honestly discovered this, game changer. Wash n Gos last longer, no crunch, softer, and every wash day is easier.

Search up the 30 day detox on here. It is the same thing but will give you more practical and useful results.

I view Uncle Funky's as a moisturizing gel. It mixes well with other gels and doesn't typically turn white. I also like applying a mousse on top of that. Also, you may need to separate and shingle for more definition. Other than that, you and your hair look great.

I use UFD with Wetline on top of it.. So if you are wanting to use up that UFD throw your Wetline on top of it as the topper.. **then hears you say you don't want to keep using Wetline** Lol.. I apply my UFD in sections in the shower.. Then clip it up and away and put a shower cap on to keep it wet.. Once cleaned off from all the base gel and out the shower lotioned up and such I then take off my cap, apply my topper gel, then sit under the hooded dryer.. Folks can say what they want but I'm gone stick beside my Wetline til my stylist says otherwise.. Lol.. My entire shower, wash, detangle, style, and dry takes 1.5hrs and my hair can last 7-10days but I wash every 5-7 depending on activity level.. We all gota do what works best for us.. I totally get that.. With that, I couldn't do that ICH.. I made the mistake of purchasing only to still need to either refresh or add another gel or mousse to get my desired set.. No ma'am no Pam..

I know what you mean about Uncle Funky’s, I tried to use one of their products alone and it really did need to be combined with another brand’s product to get the effect I wanted. Also, I feel you on the bac(k)ne! When I was using products with less natural ingredients I often had that problem. That I why I love Melanin Hair Care and Quemet Biologics, that runoff doesn’t break me out and kinda saves me from having to use as much body butter after I shower.😅 Thank you and keep coming through with the entertaining and informative videos. 🙌🏾

I tell you the amount of money and time spent for THAT perfect curl clump-age ain’t worth it. When you were showing yourself applying the products in the shower I said, no Mam. Too much. The reality is no matter what gel you spend your money on, your curls will …. always come out the same.
Not really, I can only use eco Krystal right now, the original wetline extreme was my previous gel. Krystal is the only gel that makes my curls form now, anything else I get lil to no curl definition. I literally can't use just any gel

You should try African Pride Moisture Miracle Hold Styling Gel in Black Castor & Jojoba Oil Maxx or in Aloe & Coconut Water as a better alternative for wetline.

I love this video so much! You are a treat to watch. After many failed attempts, my secret for the "beloved" Uncle Funky's Daughter is this: I only use it as a base gel (as my hair is glycerin sensitive) but the moisture is next level! HOWEVER, I must follow up with a hard-hold, glycerin-free gel, or no Bueno! 😂 This, for me, is definitely not a one-and-done. Keep the funnies coming. You brighten my day! ❤

Definitely agree that what works for one person may not work for the next! My hair personally HATES gels with glycerin in the first 5 ingredients. While they may glide on well, they leave my hair sticky and gummy 😩
One thing for sure I'm always guaranteed a laugh with your animated reviews! LoL! But I agree, UFD Curly Magic done nothing for my hair either, even when used as instructed.
Base gels are hydrophilic and contains botanicals water (heavy water) like Aloe, glycerin and flaxseed help incase the hair shaft in water.
My hair stylist does this combo and I love the results but at home I stick to the Doux mousses

You crack me up. I'm glad you figured it out, and FYI ICH isn't the only topper that you can use with UFD. Some other good toppers are Eco Slay Jello Shot and Soultanicals Drip and Grip. I'm one of the unicorns that can use UFD as a one-and-done and have hold for 5 to 7 days.
There's a learning curve with using both products, and also it's not just application but the technique is very important.

Will it’s great, but to see full effect you need to do it for the next week. Also I read something about the temperature of the water. You also need to make sure that with the curly magic you emulsify it in your hands try raking with more of your thumb and gliding down the shaft of the hair taughtly.
With the inner sense also emulsify. You should be going for a maximum amount of clumpage where the hair has really big clumps. That way the definition lasts way longer. Hope this helped!
