Curly Crys has a good method for stretching out twists for an elongated twist out. Basically, just wait until your hair is about 60-80% dry, then use scrunchies to band your hair down in sections. I tried it and it works wonders! No heat needed
It’s very common, sadly. Experienced it heavy when I was relaxed. THANK god I stopped. It helped tremendously and I’ve gone back to natural for 8 years now. If not mistaken, that’s the most sensitive spot. I think due to the fact that it’s where the “soft spot” of your head is when you’re born? 🤔 I could be completely off.
@@TiffaniShontelle I had no idea about this! I’ve always felt like I was doing something wrong, even when I was experiencing amazing growth everywhere else. Aside from using growth aids I guess there’s nothing we can really do other than keep up healthy hair habits and hope it acts right 😭
Yeah, I agree with you!!! I’m about to look into this further because now you have me thinking.. is it uncontrollable because of “genetics” or is it what we’re doing/not doing that’s making it happen? I mean, I notice a difference when I make sure that section is properly moisturized but not being manipulated as much. The texture of that section feels more rough to me in comparison to the rest of my coils/curls. My hair isn’t coarse but that circle of hair strands has its own VIP section and refusing to join the healthy club. Could be perspective too lmaoo. I don’t know hunty 😭

I have a similar issue with breakage on crown area for years. Recently went to a trichologist and it’s a scalp condition and sometimes hereditary but can be treated 🙌🏾 Oh and thanks for these honest and amazing edits ☺️☺️☺️💕
What is the scalp condition called? I also alway have breakage at the roots but for me it’s more all throughout my hair. No matter what I try I never truly fixed it
this video was hilarious ! 🤣 i feel like there wasn’t a single point where i WASN’T smiling or laughing. your creativity and humor is so valuable and needed Will. truly, tfs ♥️
To get curl and more bounce without curlers, you could do a loop "knot" at the ends. You could do that by loop knotting a bunch together or doing them singly. Also, I found that a cut matters a lot with twist outs and short to shoulder length hair. Hair needs to be cut in the shape you want the style to be in, for best results.
I get it. My hair is literally in the same state as yours, in the same spots. I’m terrible about washing my hair. Be leaving my poor hair DRY AS HELL😩😅 be going weeks/months without washing 🥴 Currently trying to do better, but I’m about to just cut it off 😭😭
also !! we're basically texture twins and as one thick hair girly to another, my hair with no heat takes 3 days to fully dry. sitting under my dryer cap/diffusing for like an hour after i do my hair definitely helps though ! esp if you're tired, i literally sit under it and take a nap
Okay I been loc'd up for years, but what I used to do in my twist outs was to purposefully not have clean parts and make sure there were no clear lines in my head, that way when I took it down it would look fuller. I also would do like four strand twists because I hated trying to separate the twists and losing the curl definition, with four stands I automatically knew where to separate and didn't lose ANYTHING. Just some tips.
My hair is like that right at the top too. I have no idea what to do about it, except be careful when I'm handling my hair. Besides that, I've stopped worrying about it.
So it's not just me????? I have both that short hair at the center of my head (even though it's mid back length) and around my edges, my edges are long but there's short parts where it looks BALD. I thought I had alopecia or something.
The breakage and bald spot is exactly why I change my parts up. I try to avoid sectioning and styling my hair in the same parts for those exact reasons. I think what you're experiencing is a combination of styling "technique" and bad trims. At least that the theory as it applies to me. Stylists these days don't part my hair and cut. They just comb your hair out and trim what's visible. The longest hairs aren't the only hairs that need cutting, people!
I thought I was having hearing loss a couple years ago. I was actually going long periods of time without my ears popping from me traveling back and forth in Alabama through different areas of elevation. I'm talking a week's for muffled sounds until boom my ear pop in the middle of a Wal-Mart. When I moved out the mountains it stopped happening to me.
I got locs last year but took them out because I didn't like the size (had to CUT MY HAIR). it's growing back lovely and i'm just not doing much of anything with it. I just do wash and go's lmao. After having locs, I have no energy to do anything else.
Okay, but what really does cause the breakage at the crown? I really don't do that much heat - only blow dry once or twice a year and don't really touch that area for styling that much. I can't think of what could cause it!
Yes, I saw it when I kept doing tight low buns/ ponytails my hair couldn't take it and broke off in that middle area and the ends of my front hair might barely make it in the bun/ponytail causing breakage from the band.
Hey Will, very random but try getting your iron levels checked? I had the same and turned out low iron can cause breakage and brittle hair! Fixed my iron and it got better! Give it a go!
This is true. I was anemic (iron stores very low), but after getting iron infusions, within months hairs that had turned gray began growing from the follicles black. I literally had two color hair strands.
i can relate to this so much, everytime i try a twist out it goes wrong and i end up tying my hair up. i think i should also try different products, finding the right products is such a mission..... i also have breakage at the exact same place, !!! this is just so relatable
If you go and get a trim, I would recommend blowing it out, before trimming; so that you can make sure you cut all the damage. Splits can travel up the hair shaft. So if you trim it when it’s curly, you might not get all that needs to go.
When I’m trying to stretch my braid out I use multiple silk scrunchies down the ponytail all the way to my ends. I believe it’s called the banding method 🤷🏾♀️ I also saw some hair weights on Instagram that you put at the end of the hair but I haven’t tried it myself. I usually do pigtails with this method because it’s easier for me to get them evenly stretched with my length of hair. Not sure is that made sense but it works for me lol
Thank you for posting and giving me something to chuckle at while cleaning. Your so funny and have a really warm inviting voice. Also your so easy to look at 😍 I get distracted from chores lol.
