Thanks for this, I have the itiwit x100 3 person, and I've always thought the skegs are woefully inadequate - unless you kayak shallow rivers a lot! Knowing I can get decent sized replacements I'm looking forward to my next outing a lot more!
So funny watching your video! I bought the same orange larger skegs. My next problem is the seat (looking forward to see how you solved the seats problem) and also the drying problem. So your video is perfect for me. Thanks!
No idea how many itiwit owners mention the issue of drying out. Yes they're a correct, but fully waterproofing it before using cuts down 95% of the drying time. It's not difficult & as well as saving huge chunks of time, it makes it more durable & lasts longer. Our first itiwit is 5yrs old, been used hundreds of times & is almost like new. We fully waterproofed it from new. The skeg issue is more on the 2person than three, but I still believe Decathlon should supply the back & orange skews with the Kayaks. 3 of each.
Hi Tina, interesting video. My itiwit x100 was horrendous for zig zagging and veering off to the right. I thought about putting the bigger skegs in but took it back to decathlon instead. Transpired that the casing that holds the skegs in place were angled wrong so it would never had gone in a straight line due to a manufacturing error. Ended up with a new boat which was much better. Worth checking yours for alignment
@@thecockneykayaker2239 I am looking for something bigger that can fit me mark and 2 dogs in, but it’s hard to to pike when you haven’t had a go in it, don’t shan’t to spend money to find out we don’t like it.
@@TinasOutdoorAdventures I know what you mean. I’ve had two itiwits including the three seater which would probably suit your needs as it’s massive, but personally I wouldn’t buy another itiwit. Good luck though in your search
I am going to see if the dog will come on the go plus he has sat on the paddle board but he moves around a lot. He was ok in itiwit even if he made me go in a different direction some time with his hanging over the side
Yes more testing needs to be done. Me and mark without the dog as well. The dog leaning over the side definitely make it pull to the side of the dog, it cache’s the wind more than the go plus too.
Thanks for the video. I’ve read a few articles, some of which said to remove the front (or some refer to it as the mid) skeg and rely only on the rear two small skegs. It feels like it would actually track worse, but those articles suggest otherwise. I’ll be giving that a try next time we’re out. Others have said just putting the larger skeg at the front (mid) also helps. I’d be interested to know what you think of this latter option if you get a chance to test it.
I will do a bit of a experiment next time out. Putting the small skeg in the middle and big at back would be my first experience as launching off a sand bank at spring lake was a problem I had to wade in a long way. I do think the bigger skegs made it track better even with a dog hanging over the side. The itiwit is not a boat for speed. I prefer the go plus
Hi Tina. A total newbie to kayaking at 59! Bought the x100 and only been out once so not really knowing yet what mine tracks like but very interesting to know about the larger skeg! Look forward to watching more of your vlogs!

thanks! Ran into the same issue with me itiwit , it wanders a lot with every stroke.

Awesome! Thank you for watching.
We sold it in the end but I miss it for taking the dog with me
I bought a paddleboard seat and fixed it on the original one. Higher back is so much better
We added another seat it was in the second vidio
Thanks for the video, I brought the one man itiwit kayak and you are spot on about the tracking it's terrible. I'm going to try the larger skegs
A lot of people that have the 3 man, have said it is better

I will look but the new skegs have made a big difference my biggest problem it takes so long to dry
@@TinasOutdoorAdventures that’s why I chose the x100 drys just like the goplus

Interesting. Could you leave a link for those skegs. As an Itiwit owner I would consider buying.
There from decathlon they are the paddle board skegs
