@@TechWithBrett Yes, nevermind, I got it to detect the buttons by uninstalling the apps and installing again. There's some buttons that doesn't learn but at least the 80% works fine. Thanks
On my iPhone only the Ihc app recognized the device and work with Alexa without the broad link app.

I have one of these already, it controls my TV, air con and my fan, via Google mini too.
It's a great little device.
You only need the IHC for set up, and they are available on Lazada and probably lots of other places too.
In answer to another comment, it does have pre-sets for many brands.

That's great for the price. Less than half price on amazon UK. I'm tempted, just control my aircon but I'd have to buy a new home mini for the living room

I think it was I that suggested the review of the Broadlink Mini.
The IHC app was the only thing I needed to set up the TV and TV box. For each favorite channel I created a scene. But to activate the ON of either the TV and the TV Box you need to make the Broadlink Mini learn the ON commands and then do as I say, Hey Google activate On, and it will turn On the TV and TV box at the same time. To turn Off I created a scene with the Off commands that I previously teached the Broadlink. When for example I go to bed I say, Hey Google activate Off, and it will turn everything off.
For channels that have three numbers you need to give 0,5 seconds space on each number. When you create a scene for example channel 321 you will select/create channel 3 +(0,5 second)+2 (0,5 second) 1. If you don't give that time space, sometimes it might not change to the correct channel.
I use the Broadlink Mini to turn On and Off a led strip that I have on my open space kitchen. Because the Broadlink Mini has to have line of sight to be able to communicate. Remember that the Broadlink Mini will only be able to communicate with appliances near by. It's like an IR blaster remote. If you need/want to have RF signals you will have to buy the bigger brother of this Broadlink that can support both IR and RF signals.
And one thing that wasn't mentioned are the brands. If your TV brand or the TV Box doesn't appear on the options you can teach the Broadlink all the commands you want it to learn.
For the price it's a nice addition to your home and works well with Google Home.

I use to the Routines on the Google App this way instead of saying activate this or that, I say for example Let's Party and my little led robot starts spinning the light's. There's in fact a lot of options. Basically everything with IR is possible of controlling with the help of Broadlink and the Google Home.
So for every channels I need to build a scene? But la there a way to make a backup to save all my scenes? I don't want to loose all my settings in one second

My next big move is I'm getting a very cheap Universal kit for my older ceiling fan and I'm going to teach the new broadlink unit to control it it shouldn't take me too long for that next trick LOL thank you for the great words of wisdom and for being so nice

I'm very confuse which device to buy Broadlink RM3 mini, RM PRO or RM PRO plus, Ovribo Allone or Orvibo Magic Cube, cause I have a Google Mni and I want to control my LG TV not just turn on or off or volume up and down but also Channels Change. As I understood I need maybe to create scenes but is a Boring way to do. Which device above mentioned do you advice to buy for my porpouse? For RF I work with Sonoff very well so no need to use through these devices. Thanks

Hi,great video. just a question hope you can help. For most appliances, the on/off switch on the remote is the same button,so let's say for example if my TV is currently off, when i command google assistant to switch my TV off, will the TV still remain off, or will it turn it on since the IR signal for on/off is actually the same?
Just to clarify, the device has the ability to change inputs as well? I'm currently looking for a solution that will enable me to do this through my Google Home. I have been considering the Harmony Hub for a while now so I'm definitely looking forward to your review on that!
Yes I was able to change channels through the app. I could have just set a routine to change the channel up or down.

@@lyndonrebutoc4986 You change change inputs by selecting the "user defined" button (looks like a tic/tac/toe board on the app I used) click on it and it will ask you to manually aim the remote at the device to make the selection and then turn the device off and then do the same aiming at the RM mini and then select a button on the app to store that action. It works great, BUT this Chinese app is NOT smart enough to allow you to NAME the action. You will just have actions stored as 1,2,3,4 etc. so if you can remember that action one does this and action three does that... you'll be good
@@MrBNARick You have to add a routine in your smart assistant so you say something like "hey google, channel up on tv" or similar and set that command to ask the device to complete action 2 or whatever it is, for example.
I just came back to looking at this 9 months ago and Broadlink only had Alexa but you show Google Assistant too. Great News. Nice vid. I'm going to buy a bean I guess.

My uncle is a bit old and has hard time navigating the multiple menus in order to find his games. Or if you have any other recommendation for such problem?

That is exactly why I bought it! I think it recently received an update to have it work much better with Google Home.
I recommend the Harmony Hub. It does this and I know it works because I have 2 of them. And it was out 1st. Set up could be a little complicated tho.

Hey Mr Brett I've got a problem you might be able to help! I got one Casa link bulb. That does not keep connection it's in a fixture with another bulb the other bulb keeps connection fine I think it may be because there's too much metal in the fixture. Do you think there's any way that one of the mini beans and the RF bulbs would work better. The problem I see is the shade has a lot of solid white glass and of course I should say this is a ceiling light too. Your help would be greatly appreciated because you seem to make everything else work I have in fact the condo Works seamlessly and it's greatly appreciated! Your buddy Mike from Paris Illinois
Hey Brett, can you get the MAC address before the device connects to the AP? This is the biggest frustration with all the smart home products, you can't get MAC addresses until after the are connected, which means turning off MAC authentication on your router first!

If I have multiple Google Assistant, can they control multiple Broadlinks in different rooms? So I can tell google to switch on the TV in the kitchen while I'm in the living room; tell google from the bedroom to switch on the light (with smartswitch) in the basement, provided there are google assistants and Broadlinks in all rooms?
Yep it will work! You just need to have all the rooms named differently.
I have a question I really hope you can help answer for me. I'm in a wheelchair and can't use a remote. So I have a Harmony Hub which works with my Google Home and is great for controlling my tv with my voice, except for one glaring issue. You can't control the D-Pad with your voice. So like for example you can't navigate a tv guide or select OK to anything. Are you able to do this with a Broadlink?

Thanks again for the heads up on this I got it working with TV AND WITH an AVR linked by CEC and ARC. The broadlink e control app allows you to create a Broadlink account and link to Voice assistant after that I don't know. Also I was able to "merge" IR signals from AVR and TV that proved useful.
I want to create an Alexa routine that involves several steps. For example, I'd like to have the TV come on, have the source set to HDMI 3, turn on the stereo receiver and have it set to auxiliary all activated with a single command such as"watch movie". In order for the hardware to recognize this series of commands, I need to insert some pauses. In real life, I wouldn't be pushing the buttons at exactly the same time but one after another once the hardware had caught up. Do you know how to insert pauses in Alexa when setting up a routine?

Nice setup tutorial. May be you can set a routine in GH, for eg, Turn on TV. So it will turn on Wemo smart plug of TV (TV power doesn't have to be on all the times), turn on TV (using Broadlink Mini 3), Go to a specific channel etc.
Yes you should be able to do this as well as have a scene do multiple action. This was a quick overview but bit I can dive deeper on that kind of stuff if you would like to see that.

Great vid, i managed to link Broadlink Smart home to google home like at 9:27 (and it says the number of devices too) but i can't see the linked scenes listed like at 9:33. Basically i've managed to link Broadlink up but i dont have access to it or the linked scenes/devices. How can i solve this? (Mini 3 remote has been setup for TV control)

Based on your video I just checked the broadlink website. Seems there are no presets to download? Not even big brands like Samsung, Philips or Sony? Do we have to train the broadlink to operate each and every device by hand?
This is my bad. In the IHC app when you add Black Bean through it, it will give you the option to select the brand.

Yes it is, you create a scene with the numbers you want to change to & name it i.e Fox HD & the macro will then 'press' the numbers you have programmed & change the channel accordingly

Is it possible to add pauses to a sequence? For example I'd like to automate opening a menu on my TV, navigating to 'Backlight', and adjusting the setting. This wouldn't work unless I can add pauses to account for the menus loading.

Hi Brett - did you ever have any luck setting up bespoke voice commands with Alexa/Google? I have a universal remote that I have got to work from the App (pressing button 1, 2, 4 etc for the functions of my specific device - an Arduino IR receiver) but I cannot find out how to set this up in Alexa - I have linked the App to Alexa but what voice commands are available is a mystery. Any help is much appreciated!

I have a question, which Broadlink is better for me? I have a TV, a soundbar, a heater & later on a Dyson fan that I want to all control with my voice so I can stop juggling remotes. Which Broadlink should I buy, the Blackbean or the RM Pro?
Sound like maybe the RM Pro might be best as it connects to the most types of devices.

I recently acquired a Broadlink RM mini 3 and configured it with my iPhone through the App "e-control". One of the devices that I added is my Air Conditioning and at first it works but later I stop responding from the App. I restarted the RM mini 3 and now I do not recognize any IR control, practically does not learn any button and the App stays in a "learning" loop. What can I do?
By the way, I'm from Mexico but I acquired it from a website in China

Hi Brett. I have 3 mini 3. Recently one of my mini 3 seems to have connection issue. I had tried reset and press the reset button again so that it slow blink for 4 times and stop for 1 sec. It kept repeating this stage and never off. Meaning it's not configured and not connected. I got a feeling this device is broken. It it broken, Brett? Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Hey everybody let's see if we can get rid of this activate word when we use Google! I found a shortcut that may help. If you use either the RF or the IR and it runs through ICH. Go to routines in Google home. Press the plus by button at the bottom. Go to the top part where it says commands add the command such as TV on and if you want TV off at it using the plus the bottom. Then push the arrow back. Then go to add action then type activate the words that IHC is expecting to hear. Push the arrow at the top left-hand corner go to the top press the check mark and it will add that. Wait a few seconds and ask the command word that you put in for Google saying okay or hey to Google then everything should happen just as you have it set up this goes for turning on lights ceiling fans or any other feature you have set up through your broadlink unit. If you're unsure or I didn't quite run through the steps quite enough leave a comment and I'll try to make it clear. I've been using this for over 6 days with no failures. If someone finds failures let me know.
Beryl White I am trying to connect it with my Samsung Tv with Google home but there is no option for “ google home “ in the app. Where as I am able to use it with my air conditioner. Can you help me with setting it up with my Tv. Awaiting your reply.

Used both applications. One application works fine if you just use the TV box but if you want the guide to work smoothly you need to
One other note once you get it set up it works better than the remote to comes with the TV top box and guide for some reason the one that comes with it gets the television confused and the cat television won't shut off and the volume won't work but there's the timer between the steps that allows everything to work if you use the second application

Informative review Brett... but I have just 2 questions -
1). Is this wall mountable, and does it have 360° coverage?
Reason: My LG Smart TV is in front, my Airtel HD STB, Android TV Box and Denon AVR are below it, my AC is to the left and smart bulbs all around, so I need to mount it
somewhere on the wall behind me (keeping it centrally on a center table is NOT feasible ).
2.) Does it also have RF and WiFi Remote capabilities?
RM MINI is IR only ot has 360 coverage , table top .not wall mount.
RM PRO has both IR and RF. Stronger signal but not sure if can be wall mounted
Got it all working thanks, but unfortunately custom function buttons are not addressable/recognised via Alexa! Standard functions/buttons worked fine however.

i may misunderstood 11:16. what do you mean when you said "this one is more based on one TV or device"? can this product turn on the TV, sound system, air conditioning and lights at the same time with one Scene button? assuming everything can be controlled by a remote control.
Yes it can, I may have mispoken. You just need to create scenes to be able to do that.

Does the broadlink Only work through my phone? If I've done the setup with my phone and my phone is dead or I'm not Home, Will my wife be able to control the TV & other things with alexa/Google?
Yes she will. The controlling is all done over the WiFi from the Google Home over your account to the Broadlink. Your phone just gets everything setup.
Does it have an ESP8266 Chip? Can I flash it with Tasmota and then use MQTT to control it?

As far as it has a remote and supports IR I don't see why not. But that might he the tricky part about this device is knowing what exactly works well.

Does the APP somehow show you whether your appliance is on? If I've left home and I think I left the AC on, is there anyway to check using the app? The remote seems to show a power button but no indication of whether the appliance is on or off.

I have Google home, I did everything just like your guide, and my living room tv remote control responding when I open home app, also the Broadlink in the same wifi,I made few scene like on ,off,volume up and down, but when I call to google home to turn on tv,it says OK I turn on the tv,but the tv is still off, by now google ask me to the app and set the tv again.
I will be geatfull if you hell to resolve this problem.
By the way, it switch on and off the wifi light.

Hi Brett, do I still need chromecast to turn on my smart TV? My Sony tv has Netflix, UA-cam and other built in apps but no google assistant. If not, can I use Broadlink Mini 3 for turning off and on my tv and change channels?
A Chromecast would work but since you already have smart apps you could use the Broadlink Mini to turn it on and off and it will change channels. Are you just using an antenna or do you have a cable box?
Tech With Brett Yes, I have a cable box. I think I'll rather choose broadlink mini 3 since I already have a built in smart apps. My friend told me that broadlink is hard to set up if I'm goin to connect it to my devices like TV, Cable box and other appliances. By the way, I love all your videos! :)

For the tv you can hit search remotes and search preset stock ir remotes so you can say volume up 3 on tv or 5 or 11 w.e. and not have to make a scene or volume double up..
