      I’ve been looking for any advanced-level racing game that is an exceptional follow-up to what I can argue was the most visually impressive and greatest off-road racing series of the PS3 era, Motorstorm! Redout looks graphically stunning and has high-velocity and technical vehicle acceleration and performance. I like the variety of tracks, smooth frame rate, customization of vehicles and various modes! Thanks for sharing this review- and great job by the way 🤙🏼

    I know this phrase is an overused meme, but Redout 2 just might be the dark souls of racing games.
    Extremely difficult, but very satisfying to learn the mechanics, master the track layouts, and use each of the ships effectively.
    Not to mention the sense of speed gets absolutely nuts later in the game.

      All this series needs now is some memorable bosses, both in terms of gameplay and lore.

      @@romiarkan450 An AG race at breakneck speeds that lasts fifteen minutes isn't memorable enough for you? And there is lore,, just not a surfeit of lore. The gameplay is fantasitic but progression within leagues is a huge step in a wrong direction and it sucks. I feel that the new ship score system is not well implemented at all as well, as in; I can't even use all the upgrades I won? but the dynamic soundtrack is so completely uninspired... that is another thing that is a big letdown after the original nailed it so well. No Spotify option either...So, if there is another sequel, not just DLC, I won't get my hopes up so much.

    • @romiarkan450

      @@photonjones5908 not exactly. A lot iconic racing games have memorable characters and vehicles that made their games a bit more special. Captain Falcon, Razor, Sergeant Cross, Reiko Nagase, the BMW M3 GTR, team Ravenwest, Sweet Tooth and his van, the #41 Hornet, and the list goes on.
      Redout's gameplay is memorable, but it takes more than gameplay to be considered the Dark Souls of racing games, because the Souls series has a lot of iconic characters. Sprinkles of lore here and there in Redout are just begging for a more in-depth portrayal, like a story mode.

    • @photonjones5908
      @photonjones5908 2 роки тому +2

      @@romiarkan450 I think in terms of difficulty, the Dark Souls tag is understandable: Of course there's nothing wrong with having evolved lore like wipeout, or a sexy mascot like Nagase, or a hero like Capt.Falcon, but I personally don't require them, and many racing games don't bother with much of a story or character development. My point in responding was, given that this game is imo less enjoyable than the original redout in some important aspects, that I feel the series needs to go back to the formula that worked for the first game, rather than to introduce story and character elements, on which we may agree to disagree, of course.

    in some ways, unfairly bullshit tracks are some sort of tradition with old school obscure anti gravity racers. that being said, the game can use so many small fixes since they're gonna be pushing a season pass anyway.
    I just don't like being confused about where i need to land when there's a ramp, the flying system overall is incredibly jank and the ui for it is also terrible (looking everywhere at the screen to find the indicators and how i should be adjusting for the landing). there is a ramp on tartarus mines and it leads immediately to a sharp left where the problem isn't that the track doesn't have walls, the problem is that there are walls and they deliberately end before the corner and the only way to not fly off is by rewinding back and forth and trying to run yourself into a wall to slow down. also, beginning cars handle abysmally and the ai rubber banding is too nuts for you to afford to brake before multiple sharp turns. when the game is good it's p darn good but atleast in b league for now, 95% of the time it's just terrible. going on arcade to play on mount fuji with top spec ships is an absolute blast though.

    • @DARamosYT
      @DARamosYT 2 роки тому +4

      You're not wrong that b league is probably the worst in career. Limited parts and vehicles really squeeze the player to learn quickly in order to progress. Even playing Redout 1 extensively, it was a struggle on the normal difficulty then, but once all the parts were unlocked and I got familiar with the tracks, things eased up.
      The ai doesn't quite use rubberbanding mechanics. Their load outs are all on display after each race, and some might have a bit more points than the player. That, and they're especially good at boost management - a mechanic that has quite a lot of depth that new players must learn in order to compete against them. Improperly managing boost will result in being overtaken by opponents that know how to make the most of it. Sure, one may boost past them in a corner with a burst, but that's not ideal when a large straight follows up for them to rocket past again at max speed.

    Fun to return to this review. I would like to see more people review the game, but it definitely has rough edges. There were plenty bugs on launch, a good number patched, and still some that persist to the annoyance of the active player base( 10:00 case in point). Still waiting on that ranked mode, and community and season challenge tabs, even after 2 dlc drops.
    Wish I can recommend it more, but it's not for everyone.

      On career time race events the time times you've got to beat to gain stars have names like bronze, silver, gold. There IS a hidden platinum time though that will show up when beaten. Getting your first plat time gives a steam achievement that says something like "Beating the devs"

      No such luxeries from redout 2, the ai is challenging and when it isnt my own discipline with the boost is just as much of a threat. Plus now that high top speed ships are now very viable I choose them since they require you to get into a flow and maintain it

    I 100%ed the first Redout and i stopped playing the 2nd one 1/3 into the campagin because the difficulty in the was just so goddamn inconsistent. Some challenges felt more or less impossible (even on easier difficultys), while others were a breeze. Less events with a more consistent balancing would have done a lot of good for this game...

      I don't know when it happened, but the difficulty curve of the campaign was tuned to be more in line with Redout 1.
      You can expect to get first place fairly consistently even on redout dificulty early on now, kind of a shame but I suppose it was a little too crazy before, I can always tune the difficulty up.

      The tracks are more than wide enough to speed through them jet engines blazing. The learning curve is steep but if you get into it then the game is really rewarding to master.

    • @DARamosYT
      @DARamosYT 2 роки тому

      There are some wide sections. But the devs really added a ton of grip compared to the first game to stay on them. That, and the track banking does a little bit to keep the player centered somewhat from what I've noticed, even without the assists.

    • @HighLanderPonyYT
      @HighLanderPonyYT Рік тому

      Maybe the devs stop being stubborn about it by RO3.
      All narrow tracks do is multi-dip in the feelsbad: Players learning won't only race a suboptimal line but also keep ramming into the walls. I think it's fine for a few super difficult tracks but in RO1-2 it's the norm.

  • @romiarkan450
    @romiarkan450 2 роки тому +3

    I've been trying out this game and there are a few things I dislike. Mind you, I've played the first game and I think the on-track gameplay is great here. My complaints are all off the track, if there's a word for it.
    First, the fact that ESA is the only starting ship. Would've liked to be able to pick based on what I prefer, at least in terms of boost strength and duration since boosting is a strongly emphasized skill to master in the beginning of the career mode. The ESA can stay as the happy medium, but I'd like it if there are two more to choose from. One has a slightly stronger boost but slightly worse cooling (it overheats faster), the other has slightly weaker boost but slightly better cooling (it overheats slower). And then, put some kind of skill tree but instead of branching skills it's branching ship models that you can unlock.
    Second, no livery editor. I can live with using ESA's livery pattern at the beginning, but what if I'd like to change the paintjob from the brand's navy-orange to, say, white-red-black? Cosmetics, especially paintjobs, shouldn't be locked behind progression in 2022. Put an in-game currency system like the first one, and let us just buy the items from the customization menu using our winnings throughout the career mode. And please, free color changes!
    Third, and I consider this kind of minor, is they haven't realized the full potential of VERTEX's lore. It's a program, meaning creating custom tracks should be possible. Just add a track creator and allow us to share our creations. It's going to massively improve the game's lifespan. I mean, just look at games like Trackmania, Assetto Corsa, and Cities: Skylines. Those three have inherently great gameplay despite being rather old, but their respective communities have greatly increased the longevity through customized contents.
