I discovered "Raw Alignment" when I was 13. I became vegan because of ethical reasons when I was 14, but I felt SO BAD and "unhealthy" because I ate cooked foods. I thought that I was weak because I couldn't go on a 30 day juice fast. Nonetheless, it led me to think that she has so much self control, and that she is the epitome of health. I'm 16 now, and eat vegan junk food without guilt. These influencers need to be held accountable for how they are hurting people.

@@aidanclifford501Ehhh doubtful. I'm a doctor. Some lean beef in moderation is fine, but it is not a healthy food. A balanced vegan diet is much healthier than the standard American diet. Not a high bar to set, but healthier than most. You'd probably be healthier incorporating fatty fish into your diet, but plants (veggies, fruits, whole grains, legumes) should make up the majority of a healthy diet.

i think she went carnivore bc her ex promoted it (openly in his channel) and she has had mold issues for a while and her clearly past restrictive vegan diet(s) wasn't working. a few other formerly popular raw vegans (evan rock/meagan moon + megan elizabeth) also quit veganism bc of this dude (drew). she exchanged the vegan form of her ED for the carnivore and rebranded and got some new clients. bc she is good at law of attraction stuff, is bright/shiny/tiny/white, and she is well-spoken and good at social media/YT. sigh. her entire dietary journey has been disordered eating. most of UA-cam, and DEFINITELY vegan and carnivore UA-cam, has disordered eating habits and dogma and a fixation on appearance (obviously, it's social media). i went to kanekiki (raw vegan community she went to when she first was in hawaii) i can tell you first hand that the vast majority, if not like 99.9% of raw/"health" HCLF vegans are totaaaaally disordered. ugh.

When people have an eating disorder it's comforting to follow some diet. Highly restrictive eating is easier on the mind if you have arbitrary rules you can obsess over.
    It becomes a full-time hobby.
"Accidentally" constantly underconsuming because your diet is so "healthy" and full of veggies that you can't bring yourself to eat more, because your stomach is too dainty to stretch enough, yet, you also actively exercise and avoid fats... It's a vicious mindset. (Yeah, feeling too stuffed is an issue with whole foods but usually, people don't underconsume for years, instead they adapt however necessary to get the nutrients they need.)
However, once the arbitrary rules get broken, the perception of food and health still is damaged, and obviously, there isn't much actual self-care in eating disorders. You keep jumping from different fad to fad while your body and mind never get to heal and yet, you wonder why you feel so terrible, because "you have tried everything." You feel like you know everything about dieting and food, while your proper knowledge barely exists.
You just have a hard time believing that nearly everyone around you doesn't care about food and calories all the time.
You kind of want to obsess. This is your domain, this is the control and the occupation you think you need.
Add to that, that you don't have a job or other performances, where passing out or heavy brain fog alerts people or gives you bad grades. Also, add that you can monetize your obsession and that people keep praising you, your body and your choices.
If tumblr proanas/-mias or the ones from all the closed forums could have earned a living of triggering people and letting themselves be consumed by their illness, we would have more deaths to report.

@@ronbailey257 Keto is a useful for diet for treating certain conditions, especially insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. Carbohydrates have the biggest effect on insulin and blood sugar of all the macronutrients, so once you already have IR or Type 2 diabetes, you benefit from carbohydrate restriction. That said, you don't need to be on keto to do that. It's just that, when you restrict carbs back for blood sugar control and insulin reduction, you can't replace all that energy with just protein. You have to eat more fat. So, the diet is a bit more satiating and realistic than a low-fat, low-carb diet. If you do end up doing keto, you don't need to eat animal products, but it's obviously much easier because meat, cheese, eggs, and cream have no carbs or trace carbs. You get a lot of calories and nutrition for your carb buck, if you get me. To cut a long story short, I don't see much wrong with keto or carbohydrate restriction, but like with veganism, you can't just half-ass it. You have to think about where your fats are coming from, you have to be choosier about your carbs (highest nutrition for the lowest number of carbs), and you can't just eat bacon and cheese all day because the protein really adds up.
If you don't have IR or diabetes and you want to be healthier, lose weight or whatever else, then I more or less consider all these diets a wash assuming they're all about as nutritious as the other. But I would absolutely give an edge to carb restriction for anyone who's dealing with IR and Type 2.

I was diagnosed with cancer as a child nearly lost my arm, I'm looking for a system that can help defend me against another reoccurence (cancer treatment is HELL). I have read research pointing to reducing meat consumption also reduces cancer tissue growth. I don't need to tell you how important that is from my perspective. And again if you have doctor's whose research is verifiable that assert you point of view please do link them, just don't think your opinion will carry enough weight otherwise.

I listened to that podcast (it only killed a few of my brain cells) that she links to in the pinned comment, and it’s strange because it says the exact opposite sentiment that she does in her video regarding factory farming.
In the video, she says grass-fed meat is better for the environment and more humane.
However, that podcast she linked says that factory farming (they refer to them at “feed lots”) is the better option, and they are dismissive about animal welfare. They heavily defend the practice of factory farming.
So why in the world does Alyse link to it as evidence when she contradicts it with her video? Very strange.

The only way I see this being a useful diet is as an extreme elimination diet when all other options have been exhausted and only under supervision of a health care professional. The mentality of changing her diet so often is very unhealthy and she needs to seek help for that and help with balancing her diet.

Yes! Thank you for addressing the way she talked to her supporters. I used to be one of them. I had been watching Alyse since she had like 12,000 followers. I didn’t stop because she wasn’t vegan. It was the way she handled the whole situation. I’ve found that if anyone brings up how maybe she could have just been upfront, they’re suddenly just “not aligned” with her. It’s bullshit. And on the other side of it, I’ve tried to sympathize with her. She was clearly overwhelmed with social media and (I think) felt like she couldn’t do or say anything right. But also ... that’s how she’s chosen to live her life and make money so I’m constantly on the fence about her.
