    I said 60cm for the cable length when I meant 140cm. My tired brain didn't convert properly.

      @@marinosmichael Hi Marino! Greetings from the US. You are welcome. I'm happy to hear you enjoy and find these enjoyable. I am surprised how stable the virus is on my current computer. One issue I have is a crash when I turn off the virus haha something about the USB on my motherboard doesn't like it.

      @@ModIcore Crashes are normal and part of life no matter how old are the machines you use. IT professional here :). I bought recently Native Instruments Komplete 15 Ultimate package (plugin package) and their new Midi Keyboard the Kontrol MK3 61 and this is installed in a high end PC using a 14900k i9 processor and latest motherboard from ASUS z790 and while connecting it by TYPE C cable latest drivers / win 10 it sometimes crashes and have to reinsert the cable and then works fine :) to tell you the truth the virus i only used it to record tracks in the past in CUBASE as audio (we are talking 2006-2010) Never tried to use the software and now that you educated us with this very helpful tutorial i will try to use it in FL STUDIO (which i currently use) in order to play it as midi and not audio. (i use Windows 10 in my latest PCs and hopefully this will work in windows 11 as well)

    i really appreciate you going deep in the weeds, a lot of folks just show the end result and it's really interesting to see the deep dive. I don't have a virus or plan on getting one but it's still very interesting to see.

    I am also using MR816 (actually 5 of them connected together), but with Mac Pro 2013. Running with 128 buffer size at 44.1KHz is pretty stable (Cubase 11 Pro).

      The pres sound so good! The unit is super cheap now. Glad you have a stable setup with a low buffer size! Are you using a firewire pci card?

      @@ModIcore Yes, I like the sound too. And they are convenient with Cubase. My 3 interfaces daisy-chained using FireWire and connected to my Mac Pro 2013 (trashcan) using Apple FireWire to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. Other 2 interfaces connected using ADAT to other 2 interfaces (among those daisy-chained ones connected by FireWire). The only drawback is that Steinberg dropped support and never bothered to release 64-bit driver for Mac. So I am staying on Mac OS X 10.14 (Mojave) for now. Don’t see much reason to upgrade, honestly.

      @@serhiymarchenko8361 Yes! I love the quick connect feature. I am surprised the adapter is working out so well! It seems so picky. I would have been content with my old computer, but video editing is what prompted me to get a new one. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of life improvements in my upgrade. I thought it was going to be a lot of letting go to old software and habits, but it was not the case.

    Can anyone explain why in the menu , there is a setting that says "Page A - sysex or controller data , Page B - Sysex / polypressure " what do they mean ? i have to use page A set to controller data to get it to work with my MPCX to record automation , i know that much . Also what does "soft through" on and off do ? and what should it be set to ? and lastly , ifi set the settings to "send arp data " it also does some odd things sometimes like the delays only show one page on the "classic " setting .
    Once i fiddled with these , i now get no pops or clicks . ( i do not use usb on it at all , for sequencing OR control centre , i bought it for hardware not software . I use midi in and out .

      I only use local and dump settings on the Virus so not sure sorry. Sounds like you are on the right track if you're reducing clicks though!

    An os"kill"ator? That's new on me, I have the virus ti2 vst and I did have the virus ti, amazing emulation on some patches the sound isnt not quite the same but it does have it's character down to a T thanks to the emulation of the Motorola/freescale/Motorola 56367 dsp being emulated 💯❤️

    That was brave, confessing that you broke the Virus. Have you ever test driven a Bluetooth Midi Interface? The newer ones are fairly inexpensive (like 50 bucks) & work well. I expected Latency galore & tortured it for hours so I could say, yeah, piece of crap & couldn't fault it, as good as cable for me.
    ps: the most important point you made for me was the Internet. Windows 10 has so much crap going on in the background, it even messes with the Internet as well, not to mention hungry as f*ck on resources. I lived off Win7Ult SP1 for as long as I could until new software started telling me that they were not compatible with my OS & I really wanted that new software. A shame coz they really got it right with SP1. Everything worked right & worked fast. The machine in my studio back in Australia is as I left it with SP1 & it will stay like that coz all the VST stuff I use here relies on Win 10 but all the stuff back there is mostly Hardware based.

      Haha yeah I am more careful around wires now! I have not tried a Bluetooth Midi interface for the same concerns you had. That is interesting that it is rock solid; is yours USB3 or USBC out? Windows 7 was beautiful, I agree! That was the first OS that seemed to make things load quicker. I was reluctant to upgrade from XP, but wow that was such a nice upgrade.Windows 10 does feel like a downgrade. I don't know if you have looked into Windows 11, but I don't really see us ever moving to it! They designed it for tablets (and let's not talk about the CPUs that require security). I feel that if I ever upgrade my computer, I will have to update my audio interface and daw to make use of the new technology. I am satisfied with what I have, but making these videos can be painful sometimes and makes me want to upgrade - I don't see myself doing that until I find a new job.

      Most of the Bluetooth interface come with your choice of connectors, including 5 pin Midi & usually include USB adaptors to make sure you're connected. Some come with a Receiver, others don't so you need a one dollar Bluetooth 5 Dongle & then you're good. Microsoft have made it so that your Music computer should be a dedicated, stand-alone, off-the-grid box, so be it. From 1981 & on, until Cubase became available & stable for PC, I lived off an Atari ST running Cubase. As a straight-up sequencer, it kicked butt. Still the only computer ever that came standard with Midi In, Out & Thru ports.

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  8 місяців тому

      Interesting. I don't like cable mess so if I can patch within software, I'd be happy! Thanks for the information as I don't know much about them. I am surprised that the Atari ST is the only computer with built in midi; I figured the MSX would have a system with it, but outboard gear was probably a must anyways at that point to save on costs. I was born in 1989 so I missed a lot of this stuff. I started using computers pretty quickly though and learned DOS from my older brother. Windows 95 was such a great OS, but I don't even remember why I liked it so much anymore haha. @@AA-ge4uj

      I have a MSX in my collection, in the form of the Yamaha CX-5M-II, along with every cartridge ever made for it. Yeah, in that form it has the ports but it's sequencing capabilities were so primitive & weak compared to Atari-Cubase combo that it always lived life as a master keyboard & the occasional DXey sounds until I scored a DX7, still my most disliked piece. I believed the hype & now it sits in the corner like the unwanted child of an uncaring mother.

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore  8 місяців тому

      Sorry to hear it was a waste of time. The DX7 is your most disliked piece or the MSX? I have a soft spot for the original DX-7. I love good sounding classic waves and it delivers with those 8-bit outputs.@@AA-ge4uj
