You have to admit that the script is highly innovative, bringing the fight with Moby Dick onto land. I hope in the sequel, the fight would be in the air.

Barry Bostwick starred in 2010: Moby Dick. And he was also one of the stars of Rocky Horror Picture Show in the '70s, co-starring with Susan Sarandon - who later won an Oscar for Dead Man Walking in the '90s. So technically, this movie is just one degree removed from Oscar! (Yes, we realize we can probably do that with almost every Hollywood movie!)😉 Thank you for joining in the commentary.

Once again… moviedom has out done itself. Taken a true classic and proven they have no imagination. On top of that they manage to puke out another horrific , if not to say class c movie . Unfortunately there is no rating low enough to describe this disaster.

Both the old and new movie convey the same basic message: The hubris of man defeated by nature! Absolutely great and moving!

This is bread and butter for The Asylum. The sequel will probably be a flying whale. Actually I am a little surprised that this one couldn't spit fire or control people with its thought waves. 8/10

As a real reader of "Moby Dick" (which I highly recommend) and a fan of the 3 1/2 hour Ethan Hawke traditional representation I have to say I did not have high hopes for this but...

It did! The size of Moby Dick!!! It literally clenched nuclear sub in its jaws! Ending was a homage to the begining of the novel ‘my name is Ishmael…’ But in this case it is she in the middle of the ocean rescued by the chopper.

I had just finished Das Boot, the series and the algorithm recommended this one. By the end of the opening scene I called it a night.

Giant whale jumps out of water and eats another whale, which is only the size of a guppy to Moby, and Moby splashes down with less splash than an Olympic diver. That's D grade FX.

That was Excellent ! I'm glad Moby Dick got away and survived the nuclear missiles. But it was kind of sad that he ate another whale. Whales should be kind to each other and care for one another. Probably my favourite part was when Moby' ate a helicopter. I can't wait for part 2.

1st time watching this movie. Arrogance + Hubris = HIGH Risk to life. Its unfortunate that none of them had the backbone to stop their captain once they saw he was mad and irrational. They allowed him to lead them to their demise.
When I was a child..I only watched it in cartoons version..now it's in movie.
CGI is really crazy, outrunning a torpedo is hilarious, one good thing is you are kept glued to the movie till the end. hahaha
You'll be more rewarded by The Heart Of The Sea. It's based on the actual whale attack that inspired Melville. Although the survivors being stalked by the whale is bogus.

Wow, must admit, very impressed with the adaptation in construction , of the most modern submarine, is still held together , by the trusty rivet system, wow , who was the set designer , a 5 year old, and the healing properties of the skipper , wow , one minute , slices his hand and bleeds enough blood to keep a transfusion clinic in stock for 28 days , and then miraculously , drives a zodiac craft and has no wound on his left hand , now the skipper of a nuclear sub , out on manoeuvres with the boys , great movie
Its one of those movies that really make you think!
Plus, you can always just steal someones cross in a graveyard and bust off the ends if you need a quick peg leg. Ahab was a real crafty guy, I wonder why he just didn't shoot the whale in that 50 foot diameter eyeball. They never seem to be able to hit giant eyeballs, even if they had a grenade launcher. At least that way the whale could be wearing a pirate eye patch in " Moby Dick 3 Sky High and Swimming."
A creature that size, cannot move like that.

The more money that can be made sitting and constructing a film through digital means, the more character development, good acting, directing, etc. will continue to go down, down, down.. There will be exceptions, but this is a fine example of what I am talking about.

The effects are awful, Moby Dick sounds like a bear. But the acting is decent I would say, despite all this. Not the worst movie to waste your time on.

Any movie made my The Asylum is pure crap. And anyone who says otherwise doesn't know good movies even when one is literally slapping them in the face.
Moby Dick is one of my favorite classics, the 1st movie was great and this adaptation had me nerding out. Actually really liked it and all the really clever plays on important parts from the book and original movie.

What can I say, an amphibious whale been hunted by a mad captain with what looks like a super soaker I had as a kid and then the whole cast to be nuked at the end. You gotta watch it.

Apart from, well, everything, I think they broke rule one of monster movies: don't reveal your monster right at the start. Aimed at a younger audience than I me I guess.
