It was a pretty good movie. Two thing I'd like to mention in case anyone reading this finds themselves unexpectedly out in the cold on a snowy landscape in sunlight or overcast. #1. Don't touch metal with your bare hands as your skin will most likely stick to it. #2. anything with a very narrow slit in it can be used as impromptu sunglasses to protect you from snow blindness. A piece of wood with a narrow slit worked into or even a piece of dark cloth can help a lot.

@@kamilaabdulkadir7389 Two things that can cause snow-blindness: overcast days or high glare. With an overcast day there's no shadows on the snow and the eye opens up further to try and differentiate terrains. That or a high glare day can cause too much UV rays to enter the eye. Snow-blindness is effectively a sunburn on the inside of the eye which is why it's so painful.

Ok, I was expecting a cheesy amusing disaster movie and that’s not what this is (well aside from odd bits and that slightly nauseating ending) this movie was utterly terrifying, for me the worst was the way we in Britain treat refugees and those in need - scenes like this aren’t that far away, actually none of it is that far away. Scary as all hell and I really appreciate you posting it.

    • @ladybug591

mjookie - The non-compatible people streaming over your borders are NOT refugees and they need to go back and fix their own country - we had to do that and so can they.
This is a made-up propaganda movie made by people who are lying to foolish people that we humans are destroying the climate - this is beyond stupid. Go learn some real history, science and geology, stop believing that a movie is real and the scenes in the movie represent what is happening in the real world. One minute its Global Warming and the next its Global Freezing - what nonsense they feed you.

Movies are for entertainment. Sit back and enjoy a break from reality. Science documentaries are for facts and presumptions. You are doing entertainment wrong. By your logic there should be no movies as blue people dont exist, we cant fly, there is no Avengers, Cybertron or Talking turtles that are ninjas. Relax. You are probably a person that overthinks a grilled cheese sandwich. It is just bread with melted cheese, not a fine dining experience.

It started well enough, but too many unlikely coincidences saved the day. A few of the usual movie cliches as well. Also, I don't think the script writer/director has ever been in temperatures of -30C. Believe me, at that temperature you would make a hat and gloves out of anything, just anything. But there they went, our heroes often bareheaded, handling freezing metal objects with bare hands. That's something you'd only do once.

Tom's father looks more like his brother than his father.
At 2:14:45, the group enters a shelter. The door is wide open. What's the point of entering a shelter and leaving the door open if it's freezing cold outside. All the cold gets in. But, we can see that everyone inside the shelter is warm and having snacks.
At 2:17:50, they show the city almost buried under snow. We can only see the spirals of tall towers. Earlier, Thom said that they had 30 feet of snow beneath them. They could see the sign boards and lamp posts at ground level. Yet, his family is walking through buses that are parked on the ground. They are walking through a line of buses as through a tunnel, which is not possible because in between each bus there must be ice.
At 2:19:50, Thom and his lady friend are walking through the snow for hours. They have now reached ground level. We can see the buildings and streets. Even after walking through the freezing snow for hours, they have not frozen to death.

I think the shelter doors issue is the fact they filmed in what looks like an old steel works and those were blast doors and they probably don't actually close anymore in reality due to them being motorised and unused for some time.

werrrrl not exactly. We are in the interglacial warm period of an ice age. You are referring to the last glacial maximum of 90,000 years give or take. Each ice age for the last 4 million years lasts on average 90k years with a brief warm spell for 10k years. However ours has now gone on for 13k years so the next period of glaciation is overdue to start, which makes the anthorpogenic global warming narrative even more laughable.

@Estoy Hasta LaMadre Governance is just "the action or manner of governing". So the output of legislative institutions, municipalities, organizations, etcetera. If you were actively engaged in, for example, town hall meetings, you too would be part of "governance". If your local government is corrupt, does not mean all of "governance" is..
What has Al Gore specifically done to hurt you? Can you name an example of a tax/legislation that directly affected you? If you can't that means you're being a bit hyperbolic.
And Greta is just a kid with a passion being abused for optics, not a criminal mastermind. You're angry at them cuz other people told you to be.. There is no argument you added yourself. Lazy parroting.
What do you define as the "destruction of the planet"? Because sea level rise will take a 100 years, there are far more pressing concerns right now. Also it's not only about climate change; in a lot of instances that is only the drop that makes the cup run over; human activities are oft not sustainable and ecosystems can't handle the speed of change.
You say you get ripped off by people that didn't even affect you. It's almost the same as people that say, we need capitalist free markets, and then just forget to mention currently oil is still subsidized. Keeping open failing coal plants, for example, costs a lot of money and is communist to the core.
Also, defending your garden from destruction is just smart capitalism. Why would your failure to deal with capitalism need to mean that the rest of society can't deal with climate change? Is it because you feel butt-hurt? We all do, please don't add to it even more, you selfish narcissist.
"The planet will be extinct in 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 years to 150 or maybe in 1,500 or a million years". No, each environmental issue has it's own scope and timeline. Why are you confusing a bunch of numbers.. Who the hell used that as an argument before and how can you think it's OK to copy such a crap argument and just call it a day? Using a strawman argument like that is pretty self-defeating, but you can do better, right?
"Meanwhile give me your money, obey and shut up". Have you in fact given money? Are you in fact shutting up? No no no....
Man, you're a hyperbolic rant machine, aren't you, but where Al Gore is being a dick with a proper excuse, you're just being a dick.
Sustainable development simply equals making more money in the long term. The conclusion then, must be that you basically just suck at being a capitalist.

What always perplexes me is that during the Middle Ages, when no fossil fuel based industrial techology was extant, the temperature was actually warmer than it is today. This is known as the medieval warm period. Paleo-climatology has discovered that the temperature fluctuates between ice-age and temperate in a natural cycle, most probably to do with solar influence and geo-magenetic changes. Current research suggests we are returning to another period of prolonged cold, known in the past as mini-ice ages that last for several decades, before the earth returns to a more temperate climate.

I saw Claire Forlani on CSI NY for a few episodes. Better role for her. Freezing to death is supposed to be quite painless. When the extremities freeze, frost bite, the blood congeals in the centre of the body to keep the internal temp high, You then feel warm and fall asleep, forever. At that time it is good to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Special effects are good, interesting to see the houses of parliament covered in ice and snow.
Small point, a small plane loaded down with snow and ice taking off in inclement weather and flying to England. Good luck even flying the great circle route.

though i think being good at meditation is a better thing to have if dieing by frezzing to death then any of the abrahamic religions mantras ;) it help more with the hole '' fear '' part of ceasing to exist.

For some reason Flood with Robert Carlisle was more realistic in time frame, with regard to the Thames barrier.
This film does make me more interested in what folk are doing in the Arctic and Antarctic more. All of this drilling, testing and god knows what else. Who actually governs that land?

While the Actors are professionals themselves, why they did not raise the absence of those when filming? Just wondering otherwise, it's a great film.
