I have actually given some thought to how this story could possibly be reconciled with the Don Rosa continuity. Yeah, I have too much time on my hands. Donald's mother proper is Hortense, Scrooge's sister. I tend to assume that she had the egg, but that some big non-anthropomorphic bird carried it off (Donald's notorious bad luck kicking in VERY early) and placed it in its own nest. Luckily, Donald survived the hatching and was accidentally found by members of his own family. He was eventually reunited with his mother and father. But Grandma had also developed intense maternal feelings for him, and since his parents were very hot-tempered and undoubtedly often engaged in month-long feuds, Donald spent very much of his childhood on Grandma's farm while his parents sorted things out. (Nearly all comics dealing with Donald's childhood show him at Grandma's farm, though without claiming she is his mother.) Another problem is of course that Grandma and Scrooge are presented as siblings here, which they are not in the Don Rosa continuity. Could something be contrieved to the effect that they have to pretend to be siblings here, as if for whatever reason they must keep up this ruse before an unseen third passenger in the car? There would seem to be a LOT happening between the panels that is not explicitly covered.
I am obsessed with the fact that this explanation also ends up concluding that some lies must've taken place between the lines and panels. This is fun. Thank you for sharing.
@@lucentleaves Since this whole story visualizes an interview with Donald himself, I think we may be dealing with the classical "unreliable narrator" here. This is how he prefers to remember his life, not necessarily how things really happened ...
Oh my I love this analysis! It’s so entertaining and I love your voice. Great pacing, it’s fast enough that I was constantly entertained but also clear. Plus I loved that you had great intonation so it felt like you were just talking rather than following a script. Really really well done!!!
If Donald's sister... err... Cousin is any indication, then yes, Duck mothers do randomly abandon their eggs in the Duckverse. Maybe Disney Ducks are the equivalent of cuckoo birds in this universe, abandoning their kids. This explains the steady supply of orphans in Disney stories!
Perhaps it's an abandoned child sort of situation. Just like in some stories where the main character finds an abandoned newborn in random places (Tokyo Godfathers come to mind, since they find a baby while scavenging trash), I can see Donald Duck's parents deciding to abandon the egg at some random nest. Edit: I watched the rest of the video, and holy molly do the implications get scarier.
As far as I know, there is indeed some kind of maternity or at least the anthropomorphic ducks take care of the eggs until they hatch as shown in DT 2017 and in some Italian comics(cant remember rn, there are so many)
Nice video it was really well made and I hope that you can make many more videos about Donald Duck and his many supporting characters and I remember very well reading this comic in Danish when I was a child in the ladder part of the 1990s when it was included with the weekly Donald Duck comic and I also remember being very confused by Donald's really freaking weird origin story
It is only one birth story of Donald but really I would say that the best understanding to Donald origins is that he grew up in Elvira farm and his mother (Hortense) and father were maybe separated after his birth some years ago and for that his mom was away working while he stayed at his grandma farm
Heyyyyyyyy..!! Here is an idea for another conspiracy duck video: Who is the 3rd sibling in the Della/Donald pack? If it's a normal thing for the Duck canon to be in pack of three like: Elvira/Scrooge/Hortense; louie/huey/ dewey; April, May, and June (Daisy's triplet nieces).... it shouldn't be a 3rd unknow sibling? xD just a thought
Damnnnn just found ur channel earlier, loved the vids, although its very niche lol, btw (sorry if its off-putting, but-) can I have your permission to edit your videos and post it on my tt account?
I'm so glad you've enjoyed! I would prefer if you do not. I like to have some degree of control of where and how my content is presented, especially when my voice is involved. I appreciate you for asking though.

Thank you! It means a lot to hear!
I couldn't stop laughing during this video! I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I am HERE for wild analyses of From Egg to Duck!

ALSO, THE EGGS ARE GIANT COMPARED TO THE DUCKS, SO THE "BIRTH" OF LAYING THE EGG MUST BE VERY PAINFUL.
This vid is really giving me ideas for a fic xD I just love it, it was fun, entertaining and inspirational ;) thanksssss
