Real or Fake Duck Comic (Quiz with Friends)

In the middle of December I challenged some of my friends to see if they could tell what Disney Duck Comic plots were real and which ones were fake. Here's the result of that. The film "Saludos Amigos" turns 80 this year so I'll pretend this was intentionally made as an anniversary thing and that I didn't just hear about that a few days ago. Thanks to my friend Jade for the "History of The Three Caballeros", "Disney Not Having a Very Good Time", "Saludos Amigos", and "The Three Caballeros" title cards. Your hard work is appreciated. Fuck you [boob-ifies your duck] Anyway yeah I'm mostly just confused. (This really isn't meant to be a mean-spirited callout to anyone mentioned in this video. Again, this is not a very serious video and I'm just trying to lightly poke fun at something that happens quite a bit) If this video is monetized it's because there was a small copyright claim regarding the music used at the start of the...

How Barks' Magica De Spell could easily take over the world
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
In December of 1961, Magica De Spell made her first appearance in the duck comics. As we all know, that's the most important holiday happening this month, so I made this video in her honor. Special thanks to the people on a duckverse discord server I'm a part of for providing me with specific stories and panels I wanted to use for this video. The mysterious circumstances of Donald Duck's birth according to Marco Rota

I have so many questions This is the second video in a row where I've called Scrooge out for underpaying workers, I feel like I'm turning into Huey, Dewey, and Louie in "Return to Duckburg Place" you know what I'm saying? This video uses a bunch of pixabay content and pictures from various duck comics. It focuses on Marco Rota's "Buon compleanno, Paperino!" I don't know what else to say here bu...

Bill cipher solos
AWESOME
Omg. I grew up spending 90% of my time reading french Duckverse comics. It was, and still is one of my favorite fictional pieces of media ever. But I couldn't talk about it with anyone else, or see social media talking about it only until now. This is not just nostalgia, I'm genuinely so happy to find this video and channel, and will continue to look for others. Wonderful video. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for this amazing vid
I'm really glad you enjoyed and got some fun out of it!
As a Brazilian I wanted to say that i love your video and it's so cute seeing how happy you sound talking about our favorite silly birds
I'm glad!
I love your voice and the content, i looked your channel and there are no new videos :( espero sigas creando contenido
Thank you! I hope it'll happen eventually. I'm still around though.
If they start calling themselves gay caballeros again, they also better bring back Panchito's solo. It's the highlight of the original song for me.
Agreed!
He can really do anything. OH GOD HE INVENTED A CHEMICAL WEAPON
banger video. i’ve been working on a similar video about the three caballeros and this just popped up lol. super well researched and entertaining to watch. small question i’ve been trying to solve on my own: where in the hell did the “pistoles” come from for Panchito?? I’ve been unable to find any official disney media using the last name, and i’m so curious where it started. especially since we’ve gotten his full name said and pistolas was not part of it. if anyone has any source on this i would absolutely love to see it
Hi! Thank you so much for asking this question because I may sort of have an answer for you? I can't promise this is entirely accurate information, as the only source I have for it is Don Rosa. In what I believe is the Don Rosa Library hardback featuring "The Magnificent Seven (Minus 4) Caballeros" story by Don Rosa, page 173 has the following quote: "During my research I found - somewhere in my collection of vintage Three Caballeros memorabilia - one reference in a promotional pamphlet hat gave Panchito's last name as "Pistoles". This pleased e because t had always vaguely bothered me that Donald Duck and José Carioca both had surnames, but Panchito was just "Panchito." So I added "Pistoles". To my knowledge, this became the only time this lost surname had ever been used anywhere besides that pamphlet. But later I noticed that in reaction to my story, this "Pistoles" surname was now being given to Panchito across the internet in almost all reference works!!!" I think this is the only source *I've* discovered that gives any explanation for Panchito's surname. I do know where he may have seen the surname in the first place though. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
@@lucentleaves omg thank you so much for this!! it's so interesting how that name is so universal now despite barely appearing in print. i would love to see that original pamphlet just out of curiosity... thanks again :)
I wonder if UA-cam recommended me this for being a duck character owner. Yes, the duck has the B's, pft. I think it could be related to "appeal". The female body draws more attention, thus increasing the potential new public for a work. That won't stop for certain, and that's not a bad thing. Neither will the duckies without the B's cease to exist, so it's nice to know there will always be something for anyone to enjoy!
I loved the movie when I was little. So this is the very first Disney animation film to premiere in Mexico. The second one took a lot of years later, and that will be Disney-Pixar Coco
I do love this movie as a kid since it's such a wholesome friendship they have here even from different cultures.
Just want to clarify an off-hand comment: Ary Barroso's Aquarela do Brasil was popularized by the movie, both in Brazil and abroad, but it was recorded a few years before it was put in the movie and existed quite independently of it. It just wasn't very popular. Apparently Ary Barroso was upset with Villa-Lobos (yes, THAT Villa-Lobos) for not including that song in the top three of that year's Carnaval. (See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquarela_do_Brasil) The lyrics are about Brazil's beauty and tragedy, at a time when slavery was not a distant memory yet. The version that made it into the Disney movie, naturally, skips the verse about ending racism. It's Disney; were they going to leave it in? Though by popularizing the song they did make its message more widely heard. In Brazil. Because the version that became popular in the US skips ALL that, restructures the melody, and makes the song about, like, hooking up with a girl on a trip to Brazil then leaving. Great work on the translation, there, Bob Russell.
This is an important and excellent addition! Thanks.
Not strange at all. They are meant to resemble humans partially. No ducks are billionaires either, speaking english, drive cars or live in houses or watch TV :)
It's always so weird home badly a movie can be received when it first comes out but later on loved by many. I was born well after this came out but growing up very poor it was one of the films me and my family could both afford and enjoy together (were from Mexico) and we loved and enjoyed it soooooo much! My parents went as far as dressing us (me and my 2 brothers at the time) as los tres caballeros for Halloween. It's still one of our favorite movies to watch to this day ❤
That's so sweet!
as someone who is Dutch I had no idea that José and Pantchito where so littel known outside the nethelands.
This is my favorite Disney movie ever!! I grew up in Uganda. No one else seemed to know or like it. The music and the art are amazing and very nostalgic for me. I remember I’d always get this horrible feeling when the movie was ending cause I’d get so entranced and just wanted it to go on forever. The sequence with the singer dancing with the flowers was so beautiful. And the Christmas story from Mexico omg!!! The penguin…
No, I do not give them because it make me feel weird
As someone who grew up with the three caballeros movie in Mexico, I loved your video. I had no idea about their origns and knowing that more people love these characters is great.
Oh my goodness, this unlocked a core memory: Disney's Wonderful World of Knowledge was a kid’s encyclopedia set we had growing up, and one of the volumes had the Three Caballeros. The movie was a fave since I have a Brasilian parent, and I’m pretty sure they added a fourth member like was planned for the Cuba-based spin-off that got scrapped when Castro came to power.
That's extremely interesting!
I love how this whole thing stems back to the US not liking Germany.
This video was very informative and well thought out. I was expecting this channel to have more subscribers. Keep making good videos :)
Damnnnn just found ur channel earlier, loved the vids, although its very niche lol, btw (sorry if its off-putting, but-) can I have your permission to edit your videos and post it on my tt account?
I'm so glad you've enjoyed! I would prefer if you do not. I like to have some degree of control of where and how my content is presented, especially when my voice is involved. I appreciate you for asking though.
Great video, this is one of my favorite all time movies and characters. By the way, the penguin that wanted to svape from the South Pole came to Galapagos Islands that are part of my country, Ecuador 🇪🇨. Keep this excelent contento coming.
José is actually pronounced with a more English sounding J in his earlier incarnations because Portuguese pronunciation of José is like that, but Disney messed it up when they started having José appear again in the 90s.
But what about della duck
I love that you apologized for pronouncing José incorrectly, specially beacuse DISNEY themselves do it wrong. Good on you.
I learned how to pronounce it almost immediately after I realized, so now I notice it whenever I rewatch it.
@@lucentleaves I know the pain of noticing mistakes AFTER you finish a video but as I said, if Disney themselves screw it up, don't be so hard on yourself.
I fell in love with Latin America as a small child watching this movie. It really gives the vibe of the natural and cultural beauty of the different countries. I begged my Mom to take me to Bahia all the time
There's a reason why Rosa and Sciarrone are my 2 all time favourite XD
I found "How to find your number one dime (and steal it if necessary)" very enlightening. It has similar aspects to D. F. Duck's philosophy about getting knocked down and getting right back up. And similar to McDuck, De Spell clearly values materialistic pleasures, but also talks a lot about spirituality and magic. She is truly under appreciated.
How refreshing to find such enlightening analysis of these essentials works of philosophy within this comment section.
If she shapeshifts into a bird she has to work in order to fly, the rug requires far less energy on her part
That's a good point
It really does crack me up that they removed the word gay from the original song like Disney, are you trying to hide something? You all just made it more suspicious, not even joking, my kid self saw the Three Callberos and just went okay theres something more here why are they so handsy with one another 😂😂😂😂
Disney are cowards

The parody of Dante's inferno. Did I stutter
I grew up in the 90's in Italy and I LOVED The Three Caballeros film, but almost no one seems to remember it! It was so trippy and chaotic, it was great! Thank you for the video (also your Italian pronunciation wasn't that bad!)
Always great to hear that from an Italian
i love these three but they are unnecessarily horny
Mr. Edmundo Santos (translator in spanish of Walt Disney's films since Pinocchio, and director since Fantasia; until his death in 1977), was associated in this one and in Saludos Amigos, his name is in both credits; he was a friend of Walt Disney, and Walt called him "Pancho" for Pancho Pistolas.
You know in Ducktales it is revealed that Magica has a brother named Poe who was transformed into a raven a long time ago. He kind of replaces Ratface in the series and one of the reasons why Magica is so obsessed with getting her hands on Scrooges lucky dime is because it somehow contains some sort of magical power. Which, when melted together with Magicas amulet, would not just make her rich but also make her powerful enough to turn Poe back into a duck.

like in mickey and the racers they sang the song from the movie but they remaked it a little
Heyyyyyyyy..!! Here is an idea for another conspiracy duck video: Who is the 3rd sibling in the Della/Donald pack? If it's a normal thing for the Duck canon to be in pack of three like: Elvira/Scrooge/Hortense; louie/huey/ dewey; April, May, and June (Daisy's triplet nieces).... it shouldn't be a 3rd unknow sibling? xD just a thought
This vid is really giving me ideas for a fic xD I just love it, it was fun, entertaining and inspirational ;) thanksssss
I'm doing research for a fanfic about this three (cuz i'm a huge fan of the series of Legend of the tree Cabs) when i found this vid. It was funnnnnn! Thanks for making content about them, it's so rare and honestly im astonish for how little content or info there is about their stories. So... thanks again :3 <3 <3 <3
Thank you! Good luck with your fanfic!
whats the fic about?
@@calamadness It's about the Cabs trying to break the curse that binds Xandra to the Atlas so that she doesn't have to rely on having the bookmark put inside the book. Also, I'm going to expand the plot of how they become the Cabs. :S it's still in process but it's going to be a very large story xD
