    I do love how these little warbirds are getting better and better. But, I'd lose my crap if I had 6 or 8 or a friggin dozen transmitters falling all over themselves in my wife's knitting dungeon- which has recently been invaded by my other planes... and an NX8, still in the box... until Christmas 😢😂
    I am totally getting one of my sons a little heli, though. He's proficient with quads. I think he'll dig a sub250g heli.
    Awesome review.

      Merry Christmas Al! We just extended some of our plane stands, and have plans for one or maybe TWO matching 40' HC containers for storage...we need to finish the basement, as our kids need some more room, and this might help us solve our time sensitive matters while we work toward getting our pond, dam runway & heli-pad, and ultimately, the Dam Gift Shop (AKA 60'X80'X20' building/hangar/storage area/film studio???)

      I use one remote (stock) for all of my mini warbirds. I have one for the battery sensing newer planes (V2) and one for my older ones. I really enjoy these planes, I keep one or two on the dash of my truck along with batteries and a controller in the console. Super fun little planes, I fly them a lot.

    I have a few of the different 400mm Volantex warbirds. I found that on the 2 bladed prop tail dragers, I give a little up elevator before any throttle. That keeps the nose up a little and prevents the prop from hitting the ground on takeoff.

  • @jojoma4025
    @jojoma4025 9 місяців тому +1

    These 400 mm series of planes are great, love my P-51 and BF-109. They can fly in a good bit of wind given their size. I have multi-protocol radio and was able to link up to these guys. Takes some tweaking but now I can set expo and fly manually, better all the time. Still able to switch back to stabilized mode the only thing I lost was the automatic tricks feature.

    Thanks for reviewing this. I've never been a big fan of the P47 but this is one of the more detailed/advanced versions with clear cockpit and beep warnings for range and battery level. Agree Volantex are great. Flying inverted in Midd mode is impossible because it will try to self-right still. This can however be achieved in expert mode but takes some doing. In Midd mode a loop needs to be in line with the wind, or it will turn as you found out. Still great fun either way, and I actually enjoy flying in windy days now. I have 15 of these and flown then over 150 days of flying. The Red Tail Mustang is still the best flyer in expert and you can fly at very low speeds, and it glides nicely. One-touch return in not needed, as it doesn't work well lol. By the way you can peel off the transmitter clear protective covers if you want (25:25 where it says aerobatics for e.g.) and get a cleaner finish. My next plan is to fly in the snow. when snowing, just because it can.

    I found CG at 18mm from the front wing/fuse joint makes Expert mode flying normal. Mine was about a centimeter behind that. But that Gyro kept it in check in beginner and sport. Put it in Expert though and it was find that switch to put it back into sport or beginner. at 18mm, I was doing loops and rolls almost like my larger planes but I had 5-10 mph winds and it only weighs 2 ounces.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 місяців тому

    Quick question Brian, out of all of these 400mm warbirds from volantex, do you have a favorite or does any one of them in particular fly better than the others. I love all warbirds so I really don’t have a favorite ww2 fighter. So I’m just wondering if one flies better than the others. Thanks

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 місяців тому

      They keep changing the design, so what I think is it's a bit of a crap-shoot. I wish I could say P-51, and that might be a safe place to start, but then you might get a "new design", so I don't mean to be dismissive, but to be honest, we've found with the 400mm warbirds, they have a 75% chance of great experience, and 25% chance of garbage experience. The more beautiful they come out of the box, the worst they seem to fly - which is annoying, but if you want a GOOD flying experience, that will rival a 1.2m or larger, just get an UMX P-51 or whatever you like in the UMX lineup. They are ROCK SOLID but admittedly less crash survivable, AND more expensive.

    please show how to fly back as one key to return home.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Місяць тому

      It is NOT a "Return to Home". We explain this and this is specifically why we don't like it. Many have confused the two features, and it is basically a lie. This feature is 100% useless. It will cause issues for most users, and I DO NOT recommend using it. All it does is "turn around" the plane, but even that, there's no guarantee. If you want to use it, go for it, but it should not be depended on, as it will let you down.

      @BrianPhillipsRC  Місяць тому +1

      Volantex (ExHobby) manufactures the Eachine line so they are basically the same thing. We prefer Volantex/Eachine over TopRC. And if you go to ExHobby, they have lots of spare parts available as well.

      A full scale plane? Not yet...but soon, as in within a few years. I won't get a plane without at least a hangar built...and the "dam gift shop" will be the 60'X80'X20' building behind the dam, so that will more than likely act as the hangar.

      If you get the CG right and maybe a few mechanical adjustments you can get these things to fly pretty good, can't expect but so much for 100 bucks, lol I'm still amazed they fly as well as they do straight out of the box, I have the sport cub S 2 and it's the same way, you have to add weight to get the CG right and it flys much better, I'm going to order some bigger battery's, it will fly longer and I want have to tape a quarter to it anymore lol,

      My Spitty and Corsair fly level and true out of gyro mode.
      But...... it took a bunch of clicks to get them to stop their crazy climb as soon as I switched off the gyro.
      Gotta do your trimming out of gyro mode.
      Simply go stupid high....be ready with your trimming finger on the switch and have at it until you get it flying level without the gyro.
      Once you get it right, it's awesome fun.
      Then you should be able to flip your switch in and out of gyro mode and your plane still flies level and true.
      Now you have a crazy fun little War Bird that will provide hours of fun.
      P.S.
      CG?
      Who knows where that is on these planes?
      Honesty it doesn't matter if you do the aboveforementioned.
