Am kinda the same way with my 87. (I'm just 2 years older than you Manoy) I had a guy approach me summer of 22 when I had JUST got her out of 8 years sitting in the garage. It was still pretty grungy, lots of oil leaks etc. He offered me $4000 just out of the blue. I just smiled and said it ain't for sale bro. Thinking to myself this bike is going to be under my own care till I die, lol. That next winter I took it apart down to every last bolt/nut/bearing. Sandblasted motor, frame, swingarm, repainted all, refurbed EVERY last part. New bore, piston. Everything else was within spec and serviceable for continued use. Summer of 23 it runs liked a raped ape. And a one-kick wonder. And I'll be 95% on pavement from here on. Won't be abusing it too much so hopefully it will be a running bike till I croak. Just gotta figure out how to get it to Pangasinan cause that' where we're going to retire in a few years. Mangatarem to be precise. Hopefully can find fellow riders there !!!

Have since had to concede that people advising me to sell my bike and give up on the idea to export from North America and import to Philippines - are right. Import fees alone they want the value of the bike. Then the probably $2000 to ship it on a boat. Not practical. Especially since numerous bagger and cruiser riders in the group I've since hooked up with locally - have decided they "want" my bike and will most likely give me a decent amount for it when that time comes for us to make our way to the PI for "retirement". That'll give me funds to buy something over there. What, exactly, that might be is still up for debate...

Hey man! Nice video! Dont think you remember me but i was the one having cdi issues a while back. Got my licence and did a ~500km offrad trip since then, and i must say that this old bike is in a leauge of its own. If things clear up here in europe i hope to travel trough most countries and states worldwide, and maybe try to meet good people from the internet like you! Also pat your bike on the head for me its doing an awesome job! Cheers!

I currently own a 1989 Honda XR250R, I agree with you that the 80's Honda enduro/trail bikes are great bikes and are virtually indestructible. Mine is all stock suspension and plastics, Supertrapp exhaust, with a fresh top end job with about 30 hours on it. Changed the front 13 tooth sprocket to a 14 tooth to calm it down a little and give a little more top speed. So much fun to ride, and I don't have any problems keeping up with modern 250's. Future plans are a fork swap from a CRF250 for more modern suspension and a Hagon rear shock, mainly because the stock suspension is a little too soft for me. Still a blast every time I kick it over and take off! Thanks for the cool video, and long live the air cooled bikes of the 80's!

I'm a 90s semi millennial kid but I like these old classic dual sport enduro bikes and contents like this.
A very underrated channel, awesome content sir! More power ! 💪🏼

The 83 and 84 years specifically have the biggest intake and carbs and make the most power from the factory for any RFVC engine out of all years. This was literally the fastest dual sport in the world for a looong time. I stripped mine all the way down and put it back together... Worth it! I've had mine for about 10 years as well but it broke a lot. I think the quality-control was meh back in the 80s. I've had this bike longer than I was married

Wheelies for days! I have an 82 XR200r for the trails and my daily driver a 93 XT600. Come to think of it, each of my other bikes are no younger than 20 years. There's really something special about these old machines. Kinda hard to get parts in the Philippines, though. Cheers!

You are a champ bro. Great video. Great bike. In pinas i prefer 125s when riding in tbe mountains. A 600 is a "big bike' in pinas. If I find one i want to buy one. Salamat Brother

I just a few months ago traded a Husaberg 600 and got some cash and a Honda xl600r but also a Husqvarna te 610. And i didnt honestly think much of the xl600r but even though 2 days ago i tried it for the first time after the winter and it had a carburetor wich is dirty so i had to kickstart it 100 times and ran out of fuel and all crap things i today are looking at it and are intrigued and honesty a honda is good quality so even though i was to sell it now quick i have reconsidered.. i think i may keep this one and let the Husqvarna go ahead. .

I often wonder why Honda goes through the trouble to make some of those complex engineering designs. Maybe just using them as a test platform.
