  • Building a dining table out of salvaged lumber. This is a Live Oak, countertop height table.
    Selecting the boards, planing, mortice & tenon joints, glue up, stabilizing the tabletop with bow ties, test fit, and drilling holes in the metal straps.

    Really nice job on all the joinery. I love how you recycle and reuse and give new life to what others would probably see as firewood. Can't wait to see the table completed!

    This was incredible to watch, Red. My Dad gave me his hand planer before he died. He had it before he and my mother married in 1939. I have it displayed with treasured pieces of ceramic and China.
    And Rick and I bought an antique farmhouse kitchen table back in 1989.
    It dates back to the 1880's. The 4 planks have spaces in between. I'd love to have your knowledge.
    Can't wait to see the finished product 👍

    Very cool, I love all the hand tool work! It is awesome that an old hand plane is still the best tool for the job sometimes!

    I would never have thought about gluing boards together good job. I truly wish I had studied wood work but my older but my brother 😊😊did. Next year I may get him to teach me but it’s120kms round trip.
