  • Father & son tiny home build from start to finish. Video includes cost of home, property, and off-grid utilities. Complete build time lapse. Sustainable living.
    This is a 15'x30' hyperadobe earth bag home. It has stucco on the exterior, cob on the interior walls, earthen floors. It is complete with a bathroom, kitchen, & appliances.
    Kyle saved up and built this house debt free. He is now able to live very inexpensively on his 5 acre property without a mortgage or utility bills.
    I set the volume the same on all of the songs, but unfortunately the volume levels vary through the video.
    If you don't like the music feel free to turn the sound off and listen to the music of your choice. 🙂

    Very good! It is a manual 3D printer. It is a tiny house as you say, but with that method it could be 10 times larger. Do not stop.

      It's a lot of work! Smaller is usually better with this type of build. Some people build large hyperadobe homes, but it takes them many years to complete.

      Maybe practical if you actually make it with a 3D printer, but manually it's a lot of work.

    Great capture of footage to show entire build of Kyle's home. $47,200 wow for a home, septic, solar, and water. There you go seniors out there watching this a home and land for under $50k.
    Wonderful temp diff in little house.
    I see a bed for a two people, but was wondering where a crib would fit? Just joking Kyle.

    It's a great project. And yet, those dirt bags are something like $5000 so I wouldn't call this a dirt-cheap tiny house. Personally, I bought and used five tons of straw at a cost of $375, minimal stud framing and got a 24'x24' cabin installed for less. (I actually bought eleven tons of straw, hired a semi and sold six tons that day, offsetting my transporation cost for my own.) Down in Peru, I designed a house that a hundred volunteers could build and assemble in a span of five days for a cost of $500 each. I'm not kidding.

    • @RedandAprilOff-Grid
      @RedandAprilOff-Grid  7 місяців тому +13

      The two rolls of bag material cost $900. He had 1/2 roll leftover, so the actual cost was $750.
      We could have built a cheaper roof, but opted for heavy guage R-Panel metal roofing with 5 feet of overhang to shade and protect the walls. A roof with minimal overhangs and sheeted with tin or tar paper would have cost a lot less, but it also wouldn't last nearly as long.
      That's awesome you are able to quickly and inexpensively build homes! 😎👍
      This house has new appliances, electric, plumbing and a good roof. We saved and reused as much as made sense, but did splurge some on the roof and appliances.
      This same roof would have cost a lot less 3 years ago. Material prices have gone up.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL ❤🎉

    • @RedandAprilOff-Grid
      @RedandAprilOff-Grid  7 місяців тому

      Thanks! 😄 Dirt Is pretty much the cheapest building material out there, but it's definitely a lot of work. The roof was by far the most expensive part of the house, so you could save some money there. We also included the price of new appliances with the home total. You could probably build an earth bag dome for less, but it would also be a lot more work because in order for it to be structurally safe, it has to be just as tall as it is wide. So a 20 ft dome has to be 20 ft tall. That's a lot of dirt! 😊🛖🏜️

    If the house had been made round, that would have given more indoor space, been cooler, and allowed winds to flow around the walls. A circular roof with a center beam and voila, you have an ideal desert dwelling.
    I love the bagging of the walls idea… very thermally efficient. And you know critters aren’t likely to nest in the walls. One can add old water and wine bottles to such a house in the walls for color and light flowing in.

    • @RedandAprilOff-Grid
      @RedandAprilOff-Grid  7 місяців тому +2

      The roof reflects heat away and helps shade the walls. Hyperadobe is not recommended for domes, and there's a lot of engineering that has to go into the design. Typically a 20 ft earth bag dome, needs to be 20 ft tall to be structurally sound. That's a lot more dirt, and a lot more work.

      Thanks! Yes, pretty crazy, but glad it's done! All that is going into the septic is the toilet, dishwasher and kitchen sink. The washing machine and shower are gray water.

    I live alone - I'd ditch the dishwasher for at least a two burner stove top. To each his own.

    Pretty neat seeing the techniques used for this material. I never wouldve thought of using mesh bags to keep material together. If I were to live in a earth house I'd prefer to live in one of them Viking longhouses that are like entirely covered in grass

      Hyperadobe bags are great, and our soil has the good mix of sand, clay and caliche, so it has worked out well. 😎 We are way too dry for that, but it sounds awesome. 🌞🏜️

    I think that a large roofed porch with outdoor kitchen would make it more livable. You would have it made in the shade.

      The videos of finishing the kitchen and moving in show the house pretty well. Besides bringing his stuff over he didn't do much decorating so there's not much else to show. But, I know what you mean, if it was our house we would have done a walkthrough tour.
