    If you're interested in learning about the places to hunt for gold where the "49ers" might have missed it, I can recommend a book called "Bacon and Beans from a Gold Pan." It is the story of a couple who spent the great depression panning for gold in northern California. Their entire focus was on finding the spots the 49ers had overlooked, and they discuss the sorts of places they found gold.
    Looking for quartz is not gong to help you find placer gold. Quartz is dead common: it makes up 20% of the earth's crust, making it THE most common mineral on the earth. Finding a piece in a creek doesn't indicate anything about the likelihood of finding gold in that creek. Most quartz has no gold in it. Most of the quartz that does have gold is not white: the mineralization that deposits gold along with quartz deposits lots of other minerals in the quartz as well, and they tend to stain the quartz brown, red or black.

    Thanks for posting man! Reminded me of a creek i prospected outside of Seattle after google historical results told me i could find gold there...not one spec however. Mossing, crevicing, pans, but not one spec. But it was a beautiful spot and adventure. And, now i know more than i did before

      It's true what they say. Gold is where you find it. Lots of quartz and jasper.

    Nice trip👍. The same thing happened to me on Monday. The day before on Sunday I went to the south Umpqua and worked some bedrock and the next day I went to see if I could find any gold on the Santiam river and my very first pan had a nice size chunk of gold and some smaller flakes. I about shit my pants thinking I found a good spot 15 minutes from my house. But I did 8 pans after that and only found a couple micros. So I think my classifier had some leftover gold stuck in I from the Umpqua the day before 😅

    That last spot with the rounded river rock on top of gravel, I would dig down as far as I could right there. Even if you have to wait for it to basically dry up there to get down very far, I think that it would be worth it. That looks like old river {creek} channel that hasn't been mined. Good luck. By the way, I grew up near Glendale.

      Hi Larry!
      Im glad you like my videos, it’s because of comments like yours that I continue making new videos. Truth be told, this video wasn’t going to published because I didn’t find gold”aside from a micro or 2”
      I took a small poll and they wanted to see it anyways so you got it! The adventure and methods I use to prospect gold might be of interst but I won’t make a habit out of getting skunked.

    • @Goldhunter7769
      @Goldhunter7769  6 місяців тому

      Yes, I’m definitely NOT done with this creek. Just a bit disappointed because I should have found some small flake flood gold at least. I did find a couple micros but who knows, I will try again.
      Also, this creek is located much further away from the gold bearing mountains I usually prospect so that could be it as well.
