I remember the ford 9700 from my youth in the 80's. This tractor made a screaming agressive powerfull sound and we always ran to the street when we heard him coming in the distance. It was always a spectacular moment when this tractor passed.😀👍

I learned to drive a tractor on a 9600 ford when I was 7 years old. Dad would fork chopped grass off a flat deck wagon to the milk cows while I drove around in the pasture. Of course I couldn't push in the clutch but I could turn off the key. The first time he let me drive out through the gat I broke off a fence post. That was over 40 years now and I still love tractors today. Now to teach my grandkids.

I grew up in Ag from cattle ranching to row crop to pasture, to prarie haying, to orchards. We had a lot of brands of tractors; John Deere, Ford, Case, International, Farmall. I worked at a Ford tractor dealership when in college in the late 60's and early 70's, and I fell in love with the US 5000 general purpose. Sold a bunch of them, and got to demo and deliver: what a thrill for a farm boy. My next Ford down the line (not discounting the Jubalee) was the 6000 Ford with the select-o-speed 10 speed shift on the go.

Leaving an aweful deep hole at the end of each pass. The exit from the pass is spot on, but the entry of each pass is another story. As your front wheel enters the furrow, lower your plow and the furrow will be covered. Also, forget you have a 3 point hitch to pick it up....use the hydraulics.

One of my favorite all time Ford tractors ... the 100 series tractors got the look sound etc, we had 400acres and a 7700 Blue Power Special rated at 110hp if i recall. The later tractor a Tw-5 fwa and a turbo was added bringing the hp to @140hp.

The family used the 9600 to pull a seven bottom m.f plow teamed with an 1155m.f pulling an 8 bottom. Both tractors hauled the potato harvesters in the fall on our farm on Prince Edward Island.

Two 5000’s a 8000, tw 10, 9600, 7610 and the last tm 140. Not all at the same time but they were good tractors. Very nice condition the 9700 hundred is in I see tractors that look like they have been in a demolition derby and wonder how they got like that.

I worked for a farmer when I was a young man.
His fleet included a Ford 8N, Ford 801Gas Select O Speed, Ford 801 Diesel Select O Speed, Ford 5000 Gas, David Brown 990 Diesel, Ford 5600 Diesel and a Ford 9600 Diesel.
My favorites were the 801 Diesel and the 9600.
