- It’s time to get some work on Happy Ours, our 2006 341 Meridian sport bridge motor yacht. We’re taking her up the Caloosahatchee river from Cape Coral in Florida to a do it yourself boatyard 60 miles away. We need to pack everything we can possibly need as we plan to be up there with no car for 5 days doing this work. We have a couple locks to traverse and will be staying on the hook a couple nights as we make our way up and down river. We’re also going live for a portion of the trip, so don’t miss that livestream,
I’m glad yall show the good, bad and ugly of cruising/big boat ownership. But, when you are working your a$$ off maintaining it, don’t forget the life memories you get from the cruising part. Keep cruising and enjoying sunsets. Thanks for great videos.
Appreciate your always positive attitude even when things aren't going your way!
Have a great day by choosing to have one.
Hope the projects go smoothly.
A neighbor here at my marina used ground hot chili pepper in his bottom paint and its working pretty good.! He also used Pittsburgh bottom paint at about half price from Interlux and it works well, too.
Looks like you have everything covered. Good luck on your adventure. I'll be watching. Keep smiling!
Sounds like a busy week. Safe travels and good luck on the maintenance. First mate Mattie will miss you.👍
Saving .80 cents a gallon on gas, and having it delivered to your dock is pretty cool Safe travels!
Good morning. Tyvek paper coveralls might help keep most of the paint off of you. And maybe a dust respirator. At least in my experience that helped.
I got em!
I use a creeper to lay on for bottom painting....better on the knees, and bring an adjustable stool on wheels from harbor freight to sit on instead of being on your knees.....what about a fan to keep fumes and no see ums off you..get a box of three away gloves too
Please chart your progress, very interested to see how the process of bottom painting yourself goes. Seems like most Boatyards do a half ass job at best.
I'm just the other side of Chiquita from you! Hope the project is going well
Pettit Prop Coat in a 19.75 oz spray can, think it's 36 bucks, I just had my props balanced and the boat yard boss made me go buy a can and spray props before he put them on 3 weeks ago in thunderbolt Georgia.......it's to keep barnacles off
Just had my props reconned also. Tried using prop coat and always ended up with a spray can 60% and hopelessly clogged nozzles at a great cost. So I tried prop coat in a can and a foam roller. Applied nicely but negatively affected the cup on the props….. was go ping to try prop speed but we back in tot beach often which means a full strip and recoat every year… no thanks. So I asked the prop shop what they recommend and this is what they told me. Rustoleum cold galvanizing spray. I was in disbelief so they told me to check it for myself which I did by pulling an SDS for both prop coat and the rustoleum product. They are the exact same thing word for word. The rustoleum product is $6/ can. Check for yourself if you want but you’ll find the same result. Now if the nozzle gets super clogged, I didn’t just throw away $36.
@jamesranker6275 I’ve heard good things about the rustoleum cold gav. I couldn’t bring myself to do it this time around. Maybe next time.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs tell ya what, I’m gonna do mine this year and I’ll let ya know.
Have a great trip cap. And dont work to hard.
Bahamas this year?
I live in the cape also I just saw a neighbor getting a fuel delivery last week I didn't realize that service was available good to know
A-1 is the fuel delivery service I used here in cape. Great service!
Thanks for the info that might have been the same company not sure@@AdventuresofHappyOurs
I had diesel delivered and it wasn't the proper grade. It was low grade that made my two month old Volvo turbo 6 cylinder engine run ruff with no power.
Interesting. I’ll see how their gas works when I get happy ours on plane ina few days.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs I didn't know you ran gasoline, you will not have issues.
There are 2 yards in charlotte harbor you can do your own work
I may try those next time.
What is the minimum fuel purchase to get the fuel truck to your boat?
100 gallons for the discounted fuel.
What happened to the admiral
The admiral sitting this work project out lol. Sleeping in a boatyard for a week isn’t her cup of tea. Lol
You should fly the real American flag at the stern.
Old glory flys high above proudly from the masthead.
