I appreciate this! Concise and easy to watch. We blew a good deal of money on a loft bed frame in the mail. I wanted one with no extreme "chemical" sealants etc (I used hemp oil). But it's SO unsturdy. I didn't want to keep adding wood without knowing if it would help. Our frame is structured a little differently but this gets me started in the right direction!
Great. Good luck on yours. If you add the corner braces like I did, you'll be amazed at how much sturdier it'll be. You may not have to strengthen the join between top and bottom bunk. Just depends on how well it's built already. But if it's easy to do, you might as well.
Ya have a loft I just bought for my son and I don't like how much movement there is at all. This gives me lots of ideas. I was going to use brackets to attach to the wall but this would be better

Yes, kind of. The principles are the same regarding how to stiffen metal bunk beds. The difficulty will be drilling through the metal frame. Not impossible at all, just need to use titanium bits and use an occasional drop of oil during the drilling process. You could even use wood on your metal bed as the diagonal pieces at each corner. To do that, use screws with nuts. Don't over-tighten the nuts. I suggest using locknuts to ensure they don't loosen over time.
One other thought... you can also go to a place like Lowes and get some metal pieces to stiffen the corners of the loft bed. You could take a photo of your bed and take it with you to show one of the workers what you're trying to do. They'll show you what they have that would work. Good luck!

If so, that'll help some but not nearly as much as the wood pieces I installed at a 45-degree angle. But if brackets are all you have, yes, that will help reinforce it some.

Nothing is worse than 'Better Home and Garden' bs from walmart. Its so bad. The wood is very soft. They paint over blemishes that affect structural integrity. Such garbage. I have a bed I got in 1989 that is still aa solid as it was from day 1. It was was made with 2x8" wood and nuts and bolts and screws. The damn thing just wouldnt wobble. Some of these new products are crap. It looks like this bed in the video can be saved.
