  • This week we take you out to Fort Wordon state park for a campground review. Fort Worden state park has 2 campground and in this video we will be reviewing the 50 lower sites which are nestled right against the water and the lower battery with great access to the water and also the the famous light house as well.
One of the big things to keep an eye out for is the windy conditions as there is minimal protection as these sites are extremely wide open to any wind and weather coming off the water. But was it lacks for protection most sites offer great wide recreation areas and short walks to the highlight of Fort Worden with the lower battery, beach access and the famous light house. These sites are some of the hardest to get in Washington, so if you have the opportunity ,don’t hesitate to jump as these sites always go quick.
We now know why this state park is always in such high demand and is one of the sought after reservations in the state.

Using your vids, I'm puting together an eventual week long trip visiting several CG's on the peninsula and down toward Belfair or Twanoh State parks

We were thinking wind , but that was on a different level. But the views and experience was worth it !

Great video, thank you. It's one of our favorite campgrounds. We have camped there 2 times over the years. Lucked out and grabbed a canceled reservation in July. It is so hard to get a reservation in spring and summer.

Thanks the great comment. Always nice to grab a cancelled site. For sure one of the hardest tickets to get is n Washington. That’s one of the reasons we ended up going in March. Hope you guys have a great time!!

Nice tour of the campground. Did you get a chance to go through neighboring Fort Flagler? We like that one too. Kudos for braving the cold to record this.

Unfortunately we had a lot to experience at Fort Worden we were unable to go to Flagler. But it is on our short list. Thanks for the great comment and the support ! We really appreciate it !

Another helpful vid. Is any part of the CG noticeably less windy?

Scott I would say towards the end of the campground , the last couple of pull thru’s, especially the ones next to the hill side would be the best bet if you want to stay on the lower beach loop. Or you could forgo the view and try the upper campground, where there was also less wind. Might have to see if a video pops up for that campground !

@@UniqueAdventurez Thanks! I've got slide-out awnings and I try to avoid having them flap.
      Cheers!

Should be fine to do tents . It is a bit windy there at times , so keep they in mind..
