Yup, living on the East Coast I got pretty good at recognizing old Coastal Artillery emplacements (the big concrete bunker near the end of the video). Many were built for the Spanish American War (1898), and were kept in operation through WWII, until it became obvious that air warfare rendered coastal batteries effectively moot. Fort Monroe, in Hampton, VA has a great museum about the Coastal Battery force.
the navy frowns when civilians are near the base. drove to Indian Island Naval Base twice per day for 4 years. hubs, was stationed there, til he got transferred to Bremerton. we go up there at least twice a month. Fort Flager and Fort Worden. Fort Worden is famous for being haunted. those buildings are the old officer quarters and the old barracks. you can rent them for a week or for a weekend. glad you liked my corner of the world.
Yeah - most military installations do.. lol but that siren wasn't about me, they aren't THAT bad. lol that is pretty cool and you are for sure familiar with the area. :-)
Judy, you will love it. so much to explore at the Fort. lots of hiking trails, miles of beach, and if you are lucky a family of deer will follow you around mooching. lol
Amazing beautiful
Glad you liked it
Those trees!!!!!!

Jeez Dano. I have a lot of your videos to catch up on. West coast huh?
I still have tons to catch up on too! lol
U.S. Army on the coast since 1897. One wonders why Army rather than Navy...hummmmm.
I thought the same thing. Plus I had a dumb moment... army has "Forts & Posts" the other branches it's pretty much "bases" lol
State park prices are reasonable you mention but ya didn’t mention the amount???
My bad - I must have forgot in this one but try to put them in there.. most seem to be in the $32 - 36 neighborhood.. some parks are a little more
