@@Lafret17 Why? They all bring different knowledge and perspectives, plus they can split workloads. Nik just happens to be a savant in some areas kind of like Liam Howlet for Prodigy. You didn't see him complaining about their success while working with Keith Flint..
Maybe there was a mastermind, but it wouldn't be Noisia without 3 of them. Group dynamics and cooperation workflows really did wonders. The whole DnB scene is a giant pool of producers cooperating and sharing tips and it's what makes its strenght.
I wonder...With Martijn and Thys it's quite hard to tell what their "Noisia artistry" was like because their solo work split off it quite different directions that make it harder to connect the dots, unlike Nik who is quite unmistakeable in his sound both in the group and solo. But I tend to agree with you, espcially considering the Armajet soundtrack also seems like it was mainly Nik producing with the others consulting.
It's hard to believe, that 4 days was the inspiration for running blind, a mind-blowingly awesome track! Mixed together so much better than 4 days was, but I get that it's his youth sentiment! 😁
@@elioks word!!! I come on these UA-cam comments every now and then, and it amazes me how much people are locked in a particular genre bubble!!! It blows my mind 🤯 There's good music to be found in every single genre, even fart music, has their own hits 😅 But Nik aka Sleepnet, is a legend non the less!!!
this guy is fucking INSANE!!! fuck crazy dope, I recently came across Noisia from the recentish skrillex songs, and hearing THIS SONG.. BRUH.. i'm blown away!!
the vocal in forgotten is from the finale of "inferno" by dario argento. awesome track, awesome album. possibly the best neuro album ever actually. very formative to me as well, along with wormhole, through the eyes of a scorpion, clockwork, industry etc
I remember hearing that bass in a studio BTS/tour years ago while Nik was working on a new tune during the recording - then a good while later hearing it in Running Blind, and over a decade later it's still an absolute banger. That earliest rendition is VERY BC-esque, it would be delightful to hear a VIP with that original variation and the other elements included somehow. Cheers for uploading 🤘😎🤘
When I'm looking at this. and I see aaaaaall those modulation curves, I think to myself, hoooooly shit man, someone really put a lot of work in this!!! 😍
Do you constantly listen and analyze the inspiration tracks while doing the arrangement? And do you create everything from scratch like kicks, shaker loops, pads etc. ?
Would love to hear you make a sing inspired by night train by BC or analize it. For me, its the most technical sounding song i have ever heard, truly a one off
Speaking of Bad Company (f*cking legends, I adore their music), they used to do a nice little thing in their tunes that I never hear nowadays in dnb. I am not music producer so pardon my layman's way of describing it. In BC tunes there were a lot of quite subtle switch ups in breaks, hi hats an d other percussion elements. I used to love it, I still do! Such a nice little touch, but it gives so much dynamic and character to their tunes!
That’s why those tunes will still be played in another 20yrs time while I know jump up “producers” that are bored with their tunes after a week😂 Stagnant beats and baselines created with a mouse so have no feeling
As a dedicated Noisia fan who's spent a lot on their music and shows, I'm baffled by their choice to use Patreon. It seems to exploit the most devoted fans, milking those who've already invested so much into the group. This strikes me as particularly odd for accomplished musicians with millions of Spotify plays, who are also record label managers and party organizers. If the goal is to share knowledge and assist others, this content should be made more inclusive. The principle behind offering tutorials is commendable, and the stories behind the tracks are fascinating, but the execution falls short of the quality expected from Noisia. I recall Thijs, during a Twitch stream with Colin Benders, stressing the importance of professionalism when there were technical issues. This level of professionalism seems to be missing here, notably when the project starts incorrectly due to an oversight with the toms-an error that should have been fixed. It's not just about fixing mistakes; it's about respecting the paying audience's expectations for quality. If the intention is to maximize profits, then the quality must also be optimized. No one wants to pay for content where it appears the instructor hasn't adequately prepared their lesson. This doesn't meet the high standards Noisia has set over the years, and it's disappointing for fans who have supported them throughout their career.
Nik is the mastermind behind Noisia
always was. I kinda feel bad for him..
@@Lafret17 why? he's doing great stuff on his own and noisia have an incredible musical legacy

4 Days was instant goosebumps. In my opinion the golden days of drum and bass. That was my youth and my favorite parties 🎉
Love the early 2000s neuro vibe with a modern facelift. Such a great tune.
This track is legendary
classic!
It always seemed louder than most tracks as well. It's crazy. But that's probably because of that high reese then just filling up the spectrum haha.
Nik's smile when 4 days drops... is me everytime time i listen to bad company and noisia

@@whole_caveman_or_lions_den yeah, 4 days was mad in the late 90s so, I will not hold that against it haha.
Nik is the best electronic music producer ever, for me. Always on point no matter what he does.
electronic music producer nope, but dnb, yes
@@elioksDisagreed, Nik is a LEGEND! And everything he touches, turns into gold!!!
@@elioks Idk man, Billain is on a different level compared to the Noisia boys.
Guys, there is life outside dnb, even outside electronic dance music, there are incredible producers out there

Timeless tracks.
inside the machine, massive album that was and still is
my most treasured record (well, set of records) on vinyl. legendary
favorite alongside wormhole
These excerpts always FLY by, I could listen to Nik all day. Thanks for sharing guys.
those lead stabs are sick! this song is still in heavy rotation on mypersonal playlist when im driving! i go insane!
Running Blind is an absolutely awesome track. Thank you so much for sharing this breakdown of it; fascinating to hear about that and the influences

Always with the svedaliza album in the back fuggin love it
Die eerdere versies zijn bizar goed man
I saw a lot of versions. Interesting, how many time you have to spent to finish this track?
The bass in this is still amazing. This was a personal fav from that release. FIRING.
Nik would you mind making breakdown of the Finality track? That bassline absolutely slaps!

Now this is a treat omg
legend! the genius of Noisia right here
Can’t thank you enough for doing a deep dive into this one 🙏
Running Blind is to me a sort of ode to Pressure - Atom & Cell Noisia Remix. Which is when dnb started for me. Love 'em both
I wish you'd show more of the techniques, sound design, mixing etc.
Do you constantly listen and analyze the inspiration tracks while doing the arrangement?
And do you create everything from scratch like kicks, shaker loops, pads etc. ?
I do love a backstory. ❤
12:55 loads of Jonny L's tunes work this way haha, another legend!
If we sign up for patreon do we get access to all the old stuff posted on there?
Zoveel jaar later probeer ik nu Neurofunk/ Techstep te produceren met Noisia en Black Sun Empire als inspiratiebron.

They often use to add or remove rides for example. Very obvious in “the nine”
What program is being used to play the mp3s?
foobar 2000
16:44 it's sick indeed :D
Running Blind is a such a good tune, sure it owes a lot to BC but it's a masterpiece on its own nevertheless
cool track. still a banger
Вот таких треков от Noisia хотим по больше, как раньше всех уничтожали таким саундом!
5:36 so it’s acceptable to “borrow” ideas from released tracks….
Bc virus and earlier ram is the sound I’m going for
Nice to see u and 🐇 🎵)
Nice trip into dnb history for younger listeners.
5:36 bro i literally made a song inspired by 4 days and running blind thats crazy lol
We need more Sleepnet.
argh, no stems? nice track thank you for the look inside...

Great breakdown but there is an unpleasant hiss in his voice recording
