Properly positioned voices have a darkness and brightness throughout. Franco Corelli, Mario del Monaco, Giuseppe giacomini are all great examples. They don’t sound like babies on top, nor dull or overly dark, though they are considered to have dark, masculine voices while being able to sing magnificent high notes…. Without amplification over the largest orchestras.
Hi! Vocal coach here. What I think you are referring to is twang, not nasal resonance. Twang is a quality that can sound nasal, but it's actually produced by engaging the aryepiglottic sphincter (AES) above the vocal folds. Nasality or nasal resonance is produced by lowering the soft palate to allow air to flow through the nasal port. How can you tell the difference? It can be hard. But twang personally sounds brighter and harsher to me. It also gets complicated, because you could technically use both twang and nasal resonance at the same time. If you want to know which one or how much of each you are using, mimic the "wah wah" cry of a baby or the cackle of a witch and then plug your nose. How much does the sound change? If you're using nasal resonance, the sound will get snuffed out or greatly reduced when you plug your nose. If instead the sound is unchanged, you're using twang. With twang, you will also feel the muscle under your jaw bulge if you put your thumb there (unlike with nasal resonance). Hope this helps.
HELLO MR. JAY JEE, THE PHARYNGEAL VOICE IS A METAPHORIC TERM FOR A BRIGHTNESS IN THE NORMAL VOICE. SEE PHARYNGEAL VOCAL TECHNIQUE BY TONY SILVA FOR CLARIFICATION. First and foremost, I want to compliment you on your very clear enthusiasm for vocal pedagogy. I apologise, but what you are teaching in this lesson is incorrect; this is based on over 50 years of experience. "Placing" the voice forward, in the nose/nasal cavities, is a terrible mistake. It has nothing to do with true pharyngeal resonance; however, it is occasionally used for effect, often comic. Below, is an excerpt from Tetrazzini & Caruso's book; two of the greatest singers of all time. Following, there is a link to the entire book, which is free; it is in the Public Domain. Many teachers, especially the French, make a point of placing the voice in the nasal cavity on the pretext of strengthening it, and this nasal quality, partly on account of the sound of many of the French words, is only too prevalent. The voice, however, can only be strengthened by legitimate means; otherwise it can easily be ruined. One can breathe through the nose, but never attack or sing through it. As for the fault of nasality, it is, as I have said, the most difficult to get rid of. Sometimes one never does lose it. The only remedy is what I have previously indicated-to attack from the abdomen, with the throat open, and carry the voice over the soft palate, for if the voice is placed in the nose it indicates that one is singing too far forward, which is against the rules of song. If the student has a tendency to sing in this way it is well to practice in vowel sounds only (ah-eh-ee-la-lay-lee, etc.) in order to be cured of this serious fault. After all, however, those who have practiced the art of right breathing need have none of the defects mentioned above. The Art of Singing www.ibiblio.org/ebooks/Tetrazzini/Art_Singing.htm#p56
But we're Pop and Metal singers Not classical Your arguments are very valid in the context of classical, and even in contemporary, sometimes singers have difficulty with their tone being unpleasant. But I'd have to disagree that it's completely wrong to find higher notes with experimentation like this. I suffer with the same problem really, but this weird, unpleasant voice got my range further than anything else. I'd feel out what my high notes would sound like, connected in full voice, in ANY WAY I CAN DO, which includes baby noises, crying noises, creaky door noises, to get a hold of what it feels like to sing that high. And after that I refine it, to sound and feel better singing them. Other than this, the creator of the video literally forgot to say that we're definitely not going to sound like a baby or a creaking door when singing, it's literally just a way to explore the direction we need to go.
his singing is okay, nothing exceptional. a lot of the time, i'm like wtf is he talking about. he speaks too much about the theoretical aspects of singing and overexplains. i find its better just to experiment with your voice with some of the information in mind, but not all of it.

You should do your videos without music on the underground. I can't focus on what you are saying.

I think he is describing twang in the video, not nasal resonance.
Funny whe u swear. Good vid
To whom it may concern,
Please don't forget to use breath support.
Nice video….wonder who edited it
Is this the same in a nasal resonance sir?
I think he is talking about twang, not nasal resonance. Two different anatomical mechanisms.
Sing a song please .Show me singing ,no talking

I try to understand but without any demo it becomes boring to death and I stop the video at half length.
