How to restore only contacts, photos and videos from iCloud back once we reset the iphone. What happens when we click dont transfer apps and data will that option only allows us to restore photos, videos and contacts.

Good explanation of the various transfer routes (iCloud vs. directly from the phone). I opted for the direct cell phone transfer. My 60GB of transfer took 20 minutes. Helpful video!

Thanks - very helpful. I'm in the UK so we will still have sims, but I transferred my main line to esim several years ago. I've ordered a 14 Pro and I now have a better idea on how to move the esim across from my 12 Pro. I have to say, however, that I'm glad I'll still have a sim slot - it's so useful when travelling, especially to places where language might be a problem.

Hi it is very helpful to learn from you how to transfer data from old iPhone to new iPhone 14. But what is the case for having a physical SIM card? Should I take out the physical SIM card from old iPhone and insert the physical SIM card to the new iPhone 14 Pro Max before switching the new phone on? Thanks

I’ve had the 7 plus for over 5 years and just updated to the iPhone 14 pro max 256gb. A bit expensive than the 7 plus but I figured I’ll have 14 pro max for the next 5 years.

Extremely helpful video. I used it for 3 separate upgrades. Unfortunately, I had to call AT&T for 2 of 3 cellular transfers. For some reason, the cellular data didn't transfer via the eSim. Don't fret; a quick call to AT&T and the setup was done.

what if I don't have my old iphone? Say, I sold it. Does the esim activate based on apple ID?
I sold my 13 to upgrade 14 pro max which will be delivered this week. I think that I already deleted that phone (erase all) on my icloud ID. Is it safe to say that I would get the same exact settings and app placement when I do this method without affecting the sold older? I back it up before selling so I have the back up data from the day I sold it which was last December 16.
Sorry I just recently updated from P30 for 4 years to Iphone 13, then Iphone 14pro max. So this is my first time doing this kind of things haha. I pulled the triger as I only have a base 13, wanting to experience the pro max 🤭🤭🤭

Very helpful, thank you! I’m wondering how easy it would be to transfer the esim back. I’m pretty disappointed they removed the sim for ease of use when traveling, but if transferring esims is as easy as just going to settings and transferring maybe it won’t be so bad.
So I have switched my main Esim 3 times now and no issues. Hopefully that is the norm.

The service stays on your watch, this just changes which iPhone is managing it.

That depends on the app. The direct transfer seems to be better at that.
Thanks for the vid but question - when you did Quick Start on and the new phone automatically connected to WiFi, how does this work if I’m on a public WiFi when setting up (when you connect to a WiFi in settings and a pop-up page appears for you to log into the WiFi)? Will new phone still automatically connect or, if not, will I be able to log into the public WiFi on pop-up page on new phone?
The old phone transfers directly all the information needed to the new phone including saved Wi-Fi.

I haven used a custom tone for some time but previously it would with iTunes so I think it will.

What will happen to the data files, settings, and apps on the old phone? Will they be erased or retained unless you reset to factory setting?
Definitely retained unless you say delete after transfer
How long it take download 512GB from cloud ? whats if you lost youre phone esim will be in the cloud ? or you need restore sim in some other way ? does icloud store all informations about apps like bank app logins password and password loging from hmm web pages ? or you need logon again in those 50apps what you have before ?
Download speeds depend on lots of factors. Esim can be added to new device by calling carrier (possible you can just do in iPhone not sure if they need to be near each other). I have had mixed results on if need to log back into apps I find it works best with iTunes/macOS restore.
On another website it says that I have to have. both devices plugged in but I notice that you don't and it still. works. Is there an advantage to plugging them in? My old phone is charged up to 95%.

What if your previous phone can’t join wifi? My iPhone 11 Pro wifi button is grayed out and when I reset the network settings it doesn’t work anymore. I’m getting my 14 pro max next week
You would need to use iTunes on windows or use a Mac to do the transfer.

You do not need to update but if you don’t have the 14 yet you can if you want.

If you have same size or larger go for it. If you want to clear stuff out or start fresh that is also an option.
How about the logins? Do we have to re-login to every apps sign in?
That mostly depends on the app now. This will keep as many of them signed in as it can.
Only I cloud backup doesn’t transfer music which wasn’t payed
I still do an encrypted backup via Finder whenever I move phones. Worked like a charm last year when I bought my 13 Pro. I have way too many two factor setups for my various services I use personally and professionally and there is no way I'm going to manually restore those if I don't have to. Encrypted backups are the way to go IMO, but its still incredibly annoying that my Apple Music downloads don't move over and I have to manually redownload everything. I don't understand why Apple can't automate this with any restore option. Ironically, if I subscribed to Spotify, those downloads would move over just fine. So annoying.

Nope you have the option to type in a code manually if it is t working to scan it.
If we're about to upgrade from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 14 and we're using apple's built in authenticator app in iOS on various web sites, do we have to remove the two factor protection from each site and re-install it later or will it carry over to the new phone via iCloud?
Nope it will carry over with iCloud!

Did a phone to phone transfer n most apps did not installed back to the new iPhone 14 pro of mine. I hv to do manually. Bummer. Also lost the use of two old apps which still work on my iPhone 13 but apps no longer available in App Store so I can’t install it back. Any advice?
I heard about sometimes the direct transfer not working and wiping the new phone and starting over worked. For the old apps you used to be able to back those up to iTunes but not anymore. I would try wiping and trying again or use Mac/windows to try.
For old apps which are not available AppStore , u can manually backup from old device and instal manually on new device .

Do you use iCloud Photos? If so disable on the old phone and delete before migrating.

Yes, during the setup you have to add all cards again no matter which option.

If you have an iPhone 14 with a physical sim I would just wait til setup is complete then move the sim.

Yup simples! I transferred all the data from old phone, when the new 14 pro had completed the transfer and set up, I turned both phones off, transferred the sim, and everything was hunky dory. Cheers Jerry
Does the SIM, number transfer activate your cellular service on the new iPhone as in to make calls, texts, or do you still need to contact Carrier for actual activation. Great video btw!

Correct! A few minutes after you finish the migration your watch will vibrate and ask if you want to move it to your new iPhone.

SIM card trays are still in the iPhone 14 pros in Canada, which is in North America, Sim free version is only in the US.

Been trying to transfer from a 12 to a 14 since yesterday and for some weird reason after doing the Face ID, software download comes up and it’s been over 12hrs and my iPhone 14 is still spinning but nothing happening to my 1phone 12 which I’m able to use. Just strange.

What if you’re moving from a nearly full 256Gb phone to this at 256 as well, won’t it immediately affect performance?

You mentioned that the “North American” iPhone Pro has an eSIM. The Canadian iPhone Pro still uses a physical SIM card. I don’t know about Mexico. I think eSIM is for US only.

Reset the new phone to factory settings and start over. Settings>general>transfer or reset phone.

Looks like your esim is not set up.
When I transferred directly from iPhone it took less than 30 minutes and I had about 74 GB of data in the old iPhone
Never understud why people put their phones on table face down, ugh! The camera lenses(protection layer) is already there, small scratches won't be seen on the cameras because the outer surface is so close to the actual innard lense (the actual camera lense), scratches on the display on the other hand...
