Everything of mine is up to date and my PowerA Lic Pro Controller still connects to my phone but will keep the lights flashing, I know you probably get a lot of comments about those but could you tell me any more information about why it does that? I would appreciate that a ton. I know you might not respond because this video is from 6 months ago so it’s fine.
You're fine, I try to answer the comments when I'm able. I can't say for certain, but here's my thinking. Apple added support for official Nintendo Switch controller. Unofficial Switch Controllers, even licensed ones, may work because they use the same connections, but were likely made expecting only to connect to Switch when developed. So when it connects to an iDevice, the controller will work because the Mac accepts it as a Nintendo controller, but the controller hasn't received all the "handshakes" that would come from being connected to a Switch like intended. Does that make sense?
Lic pro controller was the name of it and it doesn’t show up with game controller. I think this is normal because you might have to use the official joy cons are pro controller. The official one of mine is broken.
Not sure what is the issue with Lic controllers, but I’ve had a lot of comments about them across my Switch controller videos. I think it’s something with them
I want to get something straight, if you connect both joycons and press and hold on both the screenshot button and the home button will you be able to use the joycons the way you would normally use them (please respond)
That is correct. It actually will toggle them. When you connect both a left and right joycon to the iDevice, they will act as independent controllers. If you press and hold the home and screenshot buttons for 3 seconds iOS will change them to act as a unified controller. When you press and hold them again, it will revert them to being independent controllers
Hey. Does it have to say Pro Controller to connect it to IOS because mine says Lic Pro Controller Because I was wondering if it’s the controller or not
Thanks for the video it was really helpful! I just got one problem, I connected my joy cons and the iPad detected them, but in the controller mapping it says they're not connected, even though bluetooth says they are. Pro controller is fine. Any solutions?
@diesupergurke56 Just wanted to make sure. Unfortunately the Game Controller section doesn’t appear for Joy-Cons, only for Pro Controllers. My guess is Apple already had it for Xbox and PS controllers, so it was easy to map onto the Pro controller but not the Joy-Cons, so they didn’t bother. It makes sense when you think of them individually but not when you can use them as a unified pair. Sorry.
Hey I got the mast version of Ipad and Ios on my ipad and iPhone and I can’t succeed on both I got a message like : Pairing failed. Pairing took too much time make sure ur device is turned on
Hi! I wanted to connect my afterglow wave wireless controller to my iphone, and I’ve successfully “connected it on bluetooth”, but the lights at the bottom still blink and does not work on the phone
It has to be an official, first party Nintendo controller. Even if it’s third party controller blessed by Nintendo, Apple only has official support for Nintendo’s own controllers.
@emiliano-651 Sounds like it’s a PowerA controller, because that’s the thing that shows up when I search “Nintendo Switch Enhanced wireless controller” If that’s the case then no. Only official, 1st party controllers are supported. If Nintendo didn’t make it, then Apple doesn’t support it. Even those blessed by Nintendo
My controller use to work for my iPad but it jus shows the blinking lights going back snd forth when connected, my iPad is up to date and so is my controller. What do I do?
Could be. If it doesn’t light up after a few seconds of holding it, it could be an issue with the button, the light, or something else. Can you use the button method to connect the controller to your Switch (not the USB-cable method)
I’d first update to at least the latest version of iPadOS 16, which is currently 16.7.2, then try again. Does the controller work even though the Game Controller option isn’t there?
Ah that explains it. From my experience third party controllers don't have the best of luck. The official ones are the only ones guaranteed by Apple to work. Those third party ones that are officially blessed by Nintendo have better success than those that don't, but even those can have inconsistencies. A lot of people have complained to me about the Lic controllers across my videos about Switch controllers on Apple platforms
Normally holding the sync button until the lights flash causes the controller to forget its connection to its previous console. Did the lights flash on your controller
my official joicons can connect but i can't edit the action of each button. also when i press at game it will not at any game at all. And i tried to play roblox and some games don't work correctly and i can't edit actions. pls help
